Comparison and analysis of the SIMO and MIMO methodology in the experimental modal analysis

Tato práce srovnává dvě dnes běžné varianty experimentální modální analýzy, a sice SIMO a MIMO analýzu. Pro provedení MIMO analýzy bylo nutné navrhnout nový postup měření, který je v práci podrobně popsán. Jak SIMO tak MIMO analýza byly provedeny za stejných podmínek, aby je bylo možno objektivně srovnat. Výsledky ukazují, že volba takzvaných referenčních bodů je pro věrohodnost výsledků zcela zásadní. Při dodržení všech zásad měření a vhodné volbě parametrů poskytuje MIMO analýza lepší výsledky.

Study of the effect of migrastatics on the dynamics of tumour cell migration using a coherence-controlled holographic microscope

The thesis is focused on the exploitation of the coherence controlled holographic microscopy for the investigation of the influence of the supposed migrastatic drugs on the dynamics of cancer cell migration. The theoretical part briefly describes the history of holographic microscopy and the development of the holographic microscope at the Brno University of Technology in collaboration with Telight, Brno, including an insight into the design and principle of operation of the coherence-controlled holographic microscope. Next a brief description of current cancer treatments introduces new class of anti-cancer drug candidates designated migrastatics that should impair cancer cell migration and thus prevent late metastases formation. The main part of the thesis deals with the design of the experimental observation procedure and data processing using the holographic incoherent Quantitative Phase Imaging technique. The last part of the thesis is the subsequent analysis of the migrastatic effect of the selected drugs on cancer cells in vitro and the comparison of the obtained results with existing studies. Finally, the objectives with magnification 4x and 10x were evaluated and compared for starting “the Rapid Assessment of Cell Growth and Migration”.

Ze vzniklého textu je vytvořen komentář za účelem analýzy rozdílů mezi originálem a překladem. Součástí je diskuze o přenosu informací, kohezi textu, terminologii a lokalizaci. V práci je také část věnovaná podrobnostem odborného stylu.

Complex conjunctives and their impact on cohesion and coherence in upper-secondary students' semi-formal essays

The thesis aims to explore the usage of complex conjunctives in upper-secondary students' semi-formal essays. It deals with written discourse produced by two groups of students of B1 and B2 (CEFR) levels, uncovers the differences in their use, explores their impact on cohesion and coherence and looks at the students' understanding of these concepts. In total, 40 essays in two B1 and B2 subcorpora are analysed through a corpus analysis tool inspired by the framework of Halliday and Hasan. Prior to that, analyses of writing sections in three students' books from the perspective of Teachability Hypothesis and Processability Model are conducted to establish the potential frequency and conjunctive type scale. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses showed that upper-intermediate students employ more complex conjunctives than intermediate students, even though the difference is not substantial. The data also indicate that both groups prefer initial sentence placements to the medial positions, and that additives are used over adversatives. Furthermore, the analyses uncovered surprising results, for example, in the area of paragraph-initially and paragraph- internally used conjunctives. Teoretická část této práce se komplexně zabývá různými aspekty analýzy diskurzu, zahrnujícími definice diskurzu, metodologie analýzy, situované významy, kohezi, koherenci a rozdíly mezi mluveným a psaným jazykem. Práce zdůrazňuje složitou povahu jazyka a zdůrazňuje, že efektivní komunikace přesahuje pouhou gramatickou přesnost. Zahrnuje porozumění kontextu, uplatňování pragmatických strategií a obratné používání různých řečových aktů k dosažení přesných komunikačních cílů. Práce dále zkoumá pojem řečových aktů, jejich rozmanité typy a jejich mnohostranné funkce v rámci různých jazykových stylů, zejména v oblasti vědy a techniky a populárně naučného stylu. V následujícím segmentu práce se studie hlouběji zabývá konkrétními řečovými akty, které se běžně vyskytují v oblasti angličtiny v elektrotechnice. Jedná se o tyto řečové akty: explikace, exemplifikace, hodnocení, argumentace, definování, vyvození závěru a kritika. Co se týče praktické části práce, analyzuje příklady technických a humanitních textů, které odpovídají různým řečovým aktům, jež byly zkoumány v teoretické části.

Comparative analysis of professional texts on computer science

Cílem této bakalářské práce je srovnávací analýza odborných textů z oblasti informatiky. Jako téma pro materiály byla zvolena technologie VxLAN, která je nejčastěji používána v datových centrech. Prvním textem pro analýzu je článek z webového časopisu, druhým je technická dokumentace Request for Comments (RFC), třetím je video přednáška. Hlavním cílem této práce je prozkoumat vybrané materiály z různých pohledů a určit, do jaké míry se texty, psané a mluvené, liší v použití jazyka a jaké jsou jejich společné rysy. K dosažení tohoto cíle jsou materiály zkoumány z hlediska několika diskurzních rysů, mezi které patří funkce jazyka, styl a žánr, koheze, koherence a deixe. Práce se také zaměřuje na zjištění, zda jsou analyzované materiály typickými představiteli svých žánrů a stylů.

Climate of a school class

The aim of bachelor's thesis is to find out and compare the climate of two 6th (later 7th ) grade classes at the elementary school.The paper deals with deterioration of discipline, study results and hard work of teachers in these classes. The teoretical section defines the basic terms - climate, actors of climate, types of climate, approaches to studying climate and its measurement, social interaction. Practical part introduces the method MCI, then it describes the research and its progress. In the final part of the thesis marked out assumptions are verified.

Selected aspects of radio programmes on cooking

This thesis discusses selected linguistic aspects of two radio culinary broadcasts (Rozhlas u plotny, Pochoutky). The theoretical part deals with the tradition of spoken language research, its resources and the phenomena studied. The conclusion of this chapter is devoted to the approaches to spoken language focused on coherence and cohesion. For the purposes of analysis, transcripts of above mentioned radio culinary broadcasts were made. Specific transcription rules (based on different existing transcription rules) were created, to suit our type of analysis. In Rozhlas u plotny, the guest is a professional chef, in Pochoutky, the guest is an actor or a presenter. First part of the work briefly describes and compares language of these two types of speakers in the terms of phonetics, morphology, lexicology, syntax and stylistics. Subsequently, the main part of the thesis concentrates on textual syntax and describes cohesion and coherence of spoken dialogue. From this point of view, it focuses on comparison of two types of dialogues (and two types of speakers): predominantly continuous dialogue vs. predominantly interrupted dialogue (e.g. by overlapping talk).
