Physiological and pathophysiological aspects of hydrogen sulfide metabolism in humans
Neminářová, Kristýna ; Kožich, Viktor (advisor) ; Tolde, Ondřej (referee)
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), known as a toxic gas for a long time, was recently shown to be an important signaling molecule. Hydrogen sulfide is produced in small concentration in organism and exhibits a physiological role in many tissues (brain, blood vessels, lungs). Hydrogen sulfide is mostly formed enzymatically from L-cysteine by two enzymes - cystathionin β-synthase (CBS, EC 4.2.1.22, L- serine hydro-lyase) occurring especially in the brain and cystathionine γ-lyase (CSE, EC 4.4.1.1, L- cystathionine cysteine-lyase) generating hydrogen sulfide mainly in the small intestine, portal vein and thoracic aorta. In vessels hydrogen sulfide acts as a vasorelaxant factor and reduces blood pressure while in the brain it is involved in neuronal transmission. In addition to these effects, hydrogen sulfide plays a role in inflammatory processes as well as in the transmission of pain. Hydrogen sulfide acts through activation of KATP channel (in blood vessels, digestive tract, and in inflammation), activation of NMDA receptors (brain), reduces molecules causing oxidative stress (lungs, brain) and affects influx of Ca2+ ions into the cells (retina). Based on these findings it is apparent that the modulations of metabolism of hydrogen sulfide may have a therapeutic potential, e.g. in vascular disease or in...
Kompozitní pěnové nosiče pro tkáňové inženýrství kostí
Kuntová, Henrieta ; Rampichová, Michala (advisor) ; Krulová, Magdaléna (referee)
The goal of my work was to introduce the fast pacing field of tissue engineering with focus on bone regeneration. Tissue engineering could be a future alternative to the currently used conventional approaches that suffer from healing failures. Due to increasing demand for bone tissue replacement damaged by degenerative diseases or injuries, many laboratories have attempted to come up with solutions in a form of artificial constructs. In the present light of interest are composite scaffolds usually made of polymer and ceramic combinations. Their main advantage is that they combine elasticity and tensile strength of a polymer with bioactivity and mechanical hardness of a ceramic, while removing drawbacks of each material. Fimanová, Barbora ; Vaňková, Irena (advisor) ; Chromý, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with two lexemes šedý and šedivý, which serve to designate grey colour in Czech. Methodological it is based on the concepts of color terms in the context of cognitive linguistics introduced in the first chapter. Linguistic part of this thesis presents the analysis of the Czech dictionaries and the corpus data, focusing on frequent collocations individual lexemes. Those findings lead to designate one of the adjectives as basic color term in the conception B. Berlin and P. Kay. The research also contributes to the clarification of the problem, in which areas these terms differ or overlap in meaning. For this purpose it uses a typology of semantic structure of colour concept K. Waszakowa. The results show, that originally the adjectives referred to different objects of reality, but gradually the meanings and connotations of both lexemes converge, but still don't work completely synonymously. Keywords colors, grey color, meaning, connotation, collocation, prototype, basic color term, Czech linguistic dictionaries

Čech, Adam ; Anděl, Petr (advisor) ; Lorenz, Torsten Horst (referee)
Comparison of the US occupation politics in Japan, Germany and Austria Adam Čech 2015 Abstract This dissertation focuses to provide a comparison of the character, course and the impacts of the US occupation in Japan, Austria and West Germany after the end of the World War II. The basic thesis is the assumption that the occupation policy and politics in these countries differed in many areas, due to the diversity between the characters of the territories, different outcomes of the war and dissimilar political implications of their involvement in it. This work thus reveals, examines and compares such differences and identifies the causes. By comparing individual areas this work contributes to further detailed images on the aspects of the US military occupations.
