Bakalářská práce se zabývá vyjádřením šedé barvy českými lexémy šedý a šedivý. Metodologicky vychází z pojetí označení barev v kontextu kognitivní lingvistiky představených v první kapitole. Praktická část práce předkládá analýzu českého slovníkového materiálu a korpusových dat se zaměřením na časté kolokace jednotlivých lexémů. Poznatky vedou k určení jednoho z adjektiv jako označení základní barvy v pojetí B. Berlina a P. Kaye. Výzkum dále přispívá i k objasnění problému, ve kterých oblastech se analyzované výrazy významově liší či překrývají. K tomuto účelu je v práci využita typologie sémantické struktury barevného pojmu K. Waszakowé. Z výsledků vyplývá, že původně adjektiva odkazovala k jiným objektům reality, ale postupně se lexémy šedý a šedivý významově i konotačně sbližují, přesto však nefungují zcela synonymně. Methodological it is based on the concepts of color terms in the context of cognitive linguistics introduced in the first chapter. Linguistic part of this thesis presents the analysis of the Czech dictionaries and the corpus data, focusing on frequent collocations individual lexemes. Those findings lead to designate one of the adjectives as basic color term in the conception B. Berlin and P. Kay. The research also contributes to the clarification of the problem, in which areas these terms differ or overlap in meaning. For this purpose it uses a typology of semantic structure of colour concept K. Waszakowa. The results show, that originally the adjectives referred to different objects of reality, but gradually the meanings and connotations of both lexemes converge, but still don't work completely synonymously.
