The Law and Art - Symbolism, Aesthetics, Architecture
Ševečka, Daniel ; Agha, Petr (advisor) ; Kosek, Jan (referee)
The Law and Art - Symbolism, Aesthetics, Architecture Abstract The Law and Art can be considered as a field of legal science or as a part of the theory of law, which is beginning to enjoy the interest of lawyers and legal scientists and theoreticians. However, this is not an area of law dealing with the Art Law. The Art Law focuses more on intellectual property law and the application of law in the world of art and artists. This thesis analyzes the theoretical question of whether the law can be understood as a distinct artistic discipline. So called beautiful art. This question also is the main hypothesis of this thesis. The thesis consists of five backbone chapters, in which the author, with the help of partial hypotheses and submitting as much information as possible, seeks to defend or refute the main hypothesis. As a by-product of the research done, the author also introduces a new term "The Art of Law". The Art of Law is supposed to represent possible ways and (the) ways of the connections of particular beautiful and applied arts with the law as a field of human activity. The aim of the thesis is not only to provide comprehensive and definitive answers to the main hypothesis (but also to a comprehensive explanation of the concept of the Art of Law) likewise an effort to set up a stimulating environment...
Copyright protection of architectural work, current development trends
Güttlerová, Alice ; Žikovská, Petra (advisor) ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee)
Title of thesis Copyright protectionof architectural work, current developmental trends Abstract This thesis explores the concept and protectionof architectural work and developmental trends in this legal area in the Czech Republic with respect to the valid copyright legislation. Architectural work is a work expressedthrough an architectural drawing, study, project documentation or a model, whereas in the absolute majority of cases the building itself is a reproduction of the architectural work. Subsequently, architectural work in the form of a building cannot be equated to the legislative term of architectural work in the sense of the copyright law. The work may be protected as architectural work only in the case that it fulfills the conceptual traits of author's work stipulated by the copyright law. These are defined both positively as well as negatively whereas the copyright law exempts some author's work from the copyright protection.Accordingtothe copyright law architectural workis definedas unique work of art which is the result of the creative work of an author and is expressed in an objectively perceivable form. Copyright therefore does not protect architectural ideas (concepts, notions) as such, but only their outer expression. The value of the work and its social significance is not decisive for the...
Brutalist architecture of the 20th century and its didactic avail
Křížová, Eliška ; Županič, Jan (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Michaela (referee)
The thesis focuses on the icons of the czech brutalism who are nowadays often a subject of discussion. It aims to provide coherent outlook to the reader, not just a technical description of the building but more so the process of its construction from the idea on the paper to the its final state. It observes how the views have been transformed and the perspective of the public, which is oftentimes dimmed by the stigma of the era in which these buildings were created. The goal of this thesis is to extend the knowledge about qualities of the brutalist architecture among younger generation so they could make better judgement of what will happen to these buildings in the future. For this purpose there is a didactic elaboration that will introduce brutalism to the high school students. KEYWORDS architecture, 20th century architecture, brutalism, architecture in education
St Vitus' Cathedral in Prague: Liturgy, Symbolism and Architectural Imitation in Medieval Bohemia
Uličný, Petr ; Kuthan, Jiří (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee) ; Walczak, Marek (referee)
St Vitus' Cathedral in Prague: Liturgy, Symbolism and Architectural Imitation in Medieval Bohemia In this thesis, the focus is put on the Wenceslas Chapel in St Vitus' Cathedral, the unusual design of which seems to have two levels of meanings: On the one hand, it was probably designed as a recreation of an earlier rotunda that had been founded by St Wenceslas. On the other hand, it seems that the intention was made the chapel and the whole cathedral would resemble the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, where the Calvary Chapel occupied the same position as the Wenceslas Chapel. This was most likely inspired by presence of the Imperial insignia containing the valuable Passion relics that Charles had acquired in 1350 and placed in the basilica, probably near the Wenceslas Chapel. Perhaps from that reason Charles had the new Gothic chapel decorated with semi-precious stones, because its red spots were associated with the blood of Christ and the Passion. The Wenceslas Chapel together with two Passion chapels at Karlstein Castle, containing Charles IV's private passion treasure, gave rise to the "Passion" architecture of the Luxembourg period. It included the church of St Margaret in the Cistercian monastery in Zlatá Koruna and the Resurrection Chapel attached to the church of SS Peter and Paul at...
