Use and Comparison of Selected Activating Teaching Methods by Attitude Questionnaire at the High School
Chvojová, Valerie
The central theme of the thesis is activating teaching methods, of which eleven were selected and used for its research. Specifically, these were the following ones: brainstorming, guided discussion, snowball method, inquiry-based learning, I.N.S.E.R.T. method, work with text, concept map, mind map, critical thinking method, rounds and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). These selected activating teaching methods were compared according to how the students evaluated them through attitude questionnaires, which is determined as the main aim of the work. Attitude questionnaires were created from the IMI (Intrinsic Motivation Inventory) tool. In the attitude questionnaire, the students evaluated the individual teaching methods in scales of interest/pleasure, perceived competence, effort/importance, pressure/tension and value/usefulness. In the scale of interest/pleasure, the snowball method was the best evaluated by the pupils, in the perspective of perceived competence also the snowball method, in the effort/importance scale the CLIL method, in the scale of pressure/tension inquiry-based learning and in the scale of value/usefulness again the snowball method. For further evaluation of the results, an index of subjective evaluation of teaching methods was created. It showed that the best...
Learning Progression-Based Assessment of Modern Genetics
Procházka, Marek ; Janštová, Vanda (advisor) ; Jáč, Martin (referee)
Molecular biology and genetics represent some of the most challenging biological topics for students, a correct understanding is also essential for the other chapters of biology and chemistry. The learning progression test is a tool that allows to determine the level of understanding of the given fields, which can serve as feedback that can be followed up in a targeted manner in further teaching. The aim of this work was to translate and subsequently validate the test of learning progression in molecular biology and genetics from the English original "Learning Progression-Based Assessment of Modern Genetics". Another goal of the thesis was to explain the possible influence of variables (e.g. participation in a biology seminar, science competitions or future study focus) on the overall score. Validation took place in several phases (checking the translation by experts and didactics, testing at schools and subsequent evaluation and analysis). Grammar school students completed the test online during biology class. They achieved a low level of understanding of heredity at the molecular level, further in the area of the influence of the environment on genetic information, the transfer of genetic information to offspring, and in general it is difficult for them to apply theoretical knowledge to specific...
Tracking of graduates of secondary vocational schools
Nazarov, Džalal ; Liška, Roman (advisor) ; Veteška, Jaroslav (referee)
Regular evaluation of graduates' satisfaction with the school and the quality of education provided is one of the important tools of quality management in education. Through regular and targeted tracing of former pupils, it is possible to detect mismatches between education and labour market requirements, but also to identify facts that can improve the quality of school education and provide valuable feedback to school management. The thesis on "Tracking of secondary school leavers" is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the definitions and basic concepts related to this topic. These include, for example, concepts such as pupil and graduate, the education system in the Czech Republic, school climate and the influence of school climate on pupil satisfaction or factors influencing the choice of school. The aim of the thesis is to find out how former pupils are satisfied with the school they graduated from, the quality of education they received, how they evaluate the contribution of the education they received to their further studies and professional career and to translate these findings into recommendations for school management. The research questions can help us to achieve the aim of this paper. In the practical part of this thesis, the analysis of the...
Analysis of high school graduates' motivation for pursuing higher education based on the type of high school.
Burantová, Silvie ; Liška, Roman (advisor) ; Svobodová, Zuzana (referee)
This master¢s thesis addresses the issue of motivation among high school graduates to pursue higher education. The aim of the thesis is to analyze whether the level of motivation for higher education among graduates of vocational schools and gymnasiums differs. The objective is also to identify the factors influencing this motivation. Within our research investigation, we utilized quantitative methodology, where a questionnaire was used to determine whether graduates from different types of school exhibit varying levels of motivation. It is expected that the questionnaire survey, based on the Likert scale, will confirm our assumption. The results of our investigation can contribute to a better understanding of the decision-making process among high school graduates regarding their potential future studies and career choices. Furthermore, I will discuss the integration of financial literacy into school curricula. In the second, practical part of the bachelor thesis, I will develop a quantitative financial literacy questionnaire for secondary school students to determine their level of financial literacy. I will conduct the questionnaire survey in selected schools, a grammar school, an industrial school and a vocational secondary school. Finally, I will analyze and evaluate the results of this research and possibly propose possible theories on how the situation could be improved. Revitalization of the Gemini High School, design of its dormitory and a proposal for a new use of the school garden with a café gives a new life to this place located in the calm area of the Brno housing estate Lesná. This thesis aims to create a pleasant environment not only for students and the school’s employees, but also for the public. The revitalization of the Gemini High School is designed to best enable the education of disabled students and to allow the local teaching to follow trends of the modern times. The school premises should also become a place where these students can gradually integrate into the mainstream society and earn many valuable experiences for their journey through life.

The bachelor thesis focuses on the revitalization of the Gemini High School for the Disabled and its adjacent garden. The school is located in a quiet area of the Lesná housing estate in Brno. Due to the rapid conversion of the former kindergarten and nursery into a secondary school in the 1990s, it does not meet the ideal environment and conditions for students with disabilities today. Therefore, I decided to undertake an extensive renovation of this building to reflect the current educational needs for students with disabilities.
