Pěkná, Adéla ; Kasáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
The period from 2014 to 2017 was marked in Catalonia by many events and tensions surrounding independence issues. This work "Catalan identity and nationalism from the perspective of Catalan and Spanish political parties between 2014 and 2017" aims to find out how identity themes are captured in the programs of political parties across the entire political spectrum in Catalonia, i. e. in the programs of both national and Catalan parties, and whether the processing of these themes leads to a clear interpretation of Catalan identity or problematizes it. The work is based on the interpretation of the nation according to Anthony D. Smith and the national identity derived from it, expanded with linguistic themes and cultural peculiarities of the community of nations according to Eric J. Hobsbawm. The application of thematic analysis on the political proclamations were identified based on the formulation of these parties' national-identity perception of Catalonia. The basic source are the election programs of the Catalan political parties. This work concludes that the themes represented by the national-identity issue in the program of Catalan political parties are language, protection of cultural heritage and territorial identity. However, processing these topics does not lead to a clear interpretation of...

Grospič, Erik ; Guasti, Petra (advisor) ; Jüptner, Petr (referee)
Although there has been a debate of varying intensity regarding the benefits of a nationwide referendum since 1993, the Czech Republic belongs to the minority group of states within the European Union in which the general regulation of this institute is not enshrined in the legal order. At the same time, only one referendum at this level has been held here under specific circumstances since the First Republic itself. This diploma thesis deals with the concept of this element of direct democracy by relevant political entities that were represented in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in the years 1993-2021. From a time point of view, this thesis focuses on eight electoral periods of the lower chamber. In the introductory part of the thesis, the use of the referendum is briefly presented from a global point of view, then within Europe and also the current Czech practice. The theoretical part presents the concept of direct democracy and the referendum itself, including its typology. This is complemented by a number of findings from recent scientific studies. In connection with this, some controversial aspects of the referendum are presented, the conception of which by the given actor subsequently determines the relationship to the use of the referendum as such. The...
Decrease of Electoral Preferences of ČSSD after the Chamber of Deputies' Elections in 2017
Telerovský, Hynek ; Stauber, Jakub (advisor) ; Perottino, Michel (referee)
The bachelor thesis is concerned with the Czech Social Democratic Party and focuses on the election failures of the party in the last two decades. The main objective is to answer the question: What caused the electoral decline of one of the most influential political parties in the Czech Republic? The author identifies potential sources of such a decline. In the theoretical part, he discusses the problems of social democracies on the European continent in the context of the global financial crisis of 2008, which he sees as one of the general factors behind the decline of these parties. In the case of CSSD, the author adds the failed attempt to modernize CSSD, which may have contributed to its decline. In the practical part, both factors are examined in more detail with a specific focus on the CSSD. Using the method of synchronic comparison, the author compares the changes in the electoral success of individual social democratic parliamentary parties in the period 2010-2021. The second factor, concerning the electoral performance of the CSSD after the party's modernization, is examined in the context of the movement of voters and the emergence of new political parties based on the analysis of sociological data. The results confirm the author's assumption that the increasing electoral decline of the...

Veselá, Martina ; Stracený, Josef (advisor) ; Lánský, Ondřej (referee)
This thesis compares the electoral programmes of green political parties in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Austria, and the Czech Republic in the years 1990- 2014, namely the German party Alliance '90/The Greens, the Austrian party The Greens - The Green Alternative, and the Czech Green Party. The beginning of the work provides an explanation of the concepts related to green politics, such as ecology, environmentalism, environment and sustainable development, whose knowledge is essential for understanding the major themes of the electoral programmes. Subsequently, the origin and history of all three political parties are outlined. The actual comparison is performed in a twofold manner. The first one compares the content of a specific programme with the previous ones and the second one compares the programmes of all three green parties for the same or the close electoral period. Furthermore, the format of individual programmes is characterized. Attention is focused on the major thematic areas, similarities and differences, and on the position of these parties before and after a particular parliamentary election being held.
