Imagery of Czech border in modern cinematography and in television

This master's thesis named Imagery of Czech Border in Modern Cinematography and in Television focuses on the issue of the representation of the Czech border region in Czech cinematography after 1990. The Czech border region is still an interesting area for its historical development, attracting the attention of many historians and artists. The thesis seeks to answer the question of how Czech cinematography works with historically and geographically given realities. The first part of the thesis deals with the issue of the historical development of the Czech border region and introduces the reader to the key events that formed the border in the past. It then explains how these historical events resulted in the present form of the Czech border region. The second part of the thesis focuses on the exploration of five different films made after 1990. Selected Czech films are Až do Města Aš (Made in Ash), Mistři (Champions), Habermannův mlýn (Habermann's Mill), the analysed series are Pustina (Wasteland) and Přísahám a slibuji (Spondeo ac polliceor). Marketing communication of Film Tourism in the Czech Republic on the Example of Kroměříž

The bachelor thesis focuses on introduction to marketing communication of film tourism in the Czech Republic and presents the city of Kroměříž as a destination whose tourism is significantly influenced by film tourism. The thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter describes terms as tourism, marketing communication, marketing communication mix, film tourism and also discusses current trends in film tourism. Second chapter defines film tourism in the Czech Republic and introduces two important agencies - CzechTourism and Czech Film Commisions. The crucial chapter presents the city of Kroměříž, its history, tourism and film-induced tourism. SWOT analyses is finally used to analyse marketing communication of film tourism in Kroměříž. The thesis aims to describe principal terms and to present the marketing communication of the city of Kroměříž.

The master thesis named The Transformation of Presentation of the Middle East Population in Post-9/11 American Films aims to closely analyze eight chosen mainstream American films with the help of the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods. The plot of the observed films has to be placed in the Middle East, picture terrorism or contain the Arabs or Muslims as characters. On the basis of a wide range of criteria and the final comparison, the thesis focuses on the comparison of the Hollywood movies which were created before and after the terrorist attacks in New York in 2001. The theoretical chapters are dedicated to the introduction of the social construction of reality, stereotyping and one-dimensional description of the Arabs in Hollywood films and mainly to the deep introduction of West and Islamic culture, not only from the historic but also cultural and valuable point of view. The applied methodology follows after. The detailed analysis of the chosen films is accompanied by photographs and excerpts directly from the films to help readers to understand the differences as much as possible. Story building in serial format focusing on the Chernobyl miniseries

This diploma theses titled Story building in serial format focusing on the Chernobyl miniseries analyses the serial Chernobyl coproduced by American HBO and British Sky aired in 2019. Chernobyl miniseries gained public recognition and still ranks as one of the highest-rated TV shows in history according to movie databases in the Czech Republic and abroad. It also received wide media coverage from different newspapers and movie servers. The miniseries has five episodes it describes primarily the human aspect of a horrifying disaster in the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986. The main aim of this theses is content and dramaturgy analysis, description, and development of individual characters and themes. This diploma thesis also focuses on the story building of a serial in terms of theoretical concepts and aspects typical for making serials and series. Moreover, the thesis mentions particular Czech and international reviews of Chernobyl.
The Picture of Judas Iscariot in Contemporary Research and Cultural Contexts.

This diploma thesis attempts to outline the image of Judas in a long-lasting tradition and follows the references of this character in canonical and non-canonical reports. It is an extension of the author's bachelor's thesis, which was dedicated to the analysis of biblical and Gnostic texts concerning the figure of Judas. For this reason, the author does not deal with a detailed analysis of these texts in this work and directly refers the reader to it (the work is available for inspection in the Repository of Final Theses of Charles University). The first chapters are devoted to reports from the Gospels and Paul's works, which the author serves primarily as a springboard for the introduction of various conceptions of the person of Judas, and which became the basis for the development of a tradition in the following centuries. In addition to canonical messages, the author encounters motives from non-canonical and apocryphal texts related to Judas, which have influenced the tradition of perception of one of Jesus' disciples to a similar extent. One of the subchapters is also devoted to the text of the Book of the Cock, which is not available in Czech, and to not very well-known topics that have not been very successful in the official church tradition. Present authorship prehension of journalism genre of film review

This thesis focuses on present prehension of publicistic genre of film review by its authors and seeks for its differences from original theoretical definitions including the reasoning and question on its future change. Derivation of our research is confirmation of hypothesis which was conclusion of previous bachelor thesis and it speaks of transformational tendency of film reviews in time. Combination of quantitative and qualitative technique gathering data, therefore questionnaire survey with present-day film reviewers and semi-structured interviews with well-known figures, aims to the most perfect capturing of their present output, equipment for it and values, but also theirs own authorship opinions about points of importance within writing about movies and how it is changing in time and eventually where it is heading.
Movie as an addition intervention in the regime addiction treatment

Background: The effectiveness of exposure therapy in the treatment of addiction is a topic of discussion. The question remains whether movie exposure can be a meaningful intervention in regimen. A research project with a similar focus has not yet taken place in the Czech Republic, although the use of movies in addictology treatment is not new. Also, only a small number of similar studies can be found worldwide. Aims: The primary goal was to verify the possibilities of movie intervention as a supplement to the standard regimen treatment of addictions in the inpatient department of men of the Department of Addictology. Methodology: The diploma thesis is based on a qualitative research methodology supplemented by a questionnaire survey. Patients were selected by deliberate targeted selection. In addition to the general criteria for entering treatment, a cut-off of min. third week of treatment. The research group consisted of 22 patients with an average age of 39 years. The obtained data were analyzed mainly by means of content analysis of focus groups, based on the method of grounded theory. The research used 3 types of questionnaires focused on the current feelings of patients, appetite for addictive substances and evaluation of predefined problems that commonly occur in treatment.
