The main topic of dissertation named "Case Radovan Krejčíř - from reality and newspaper/TV news to book and film cover and film critique" is person of Radovan Krejčíř, one of the biggest Czech criminals in the history of the country. A controversial billionaire was caught up in many criminal cases already in nineties, and not only in Czech Republic. He escaped the country in the spring of 2005 because of the danger of arrest and then he got on with pursuits against the law in the Seychelles (2005 - 2007) and later on also in South Africa (2007 - 2013). In South Africa in 2013, he was arrested and subsequently sentenced to 35 years in prison. However, the case is not yet completely closed, because there are some other Krejčíř's South African cases, that the judge's decisions are still pending. Life story of Radovan Krejčíř inspired investigative journalist and publicist Jaroslav Kmenta to write book trilogy Padrino Krejčíř (African - 2014, Gangster - 2015 and Shark - 2016) and director Jan Pachl to make a two movies (Gangster Ka and Gangster Ka: African - both 2015). Milena Jesenská and her work for Lidové noviny and Přítomnost
Němečková, Sára ; Čeňková, Jana (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The thesis deals with the journalistic works of Milena Jesenská not only in Lidové noviny but also in the magazine Přítomnost in 1929 - 1930, resp. in 1937 - 1939. In her works we can find a number of repetitive topics. Most of them have in large part roots in her life. Her literaty output is permanently penetrated by her permanent need to help her surroundings and to protect her weaker residents, which is according to author's biographers for Milena Jesenská sheer crucial. The author stood in the years 1929 - 1930 as the head of women's section of Lidové noviny and was trying very hardly to fight for the change of the form of this section in the print at that time. Another significant topic was the issue of a modern woman and her role in the society at that time. The thesis deals also with the resonance of social relations and historic events in the examined texts. Politically tuned reflections or reports and reportage by Milena Jesenská in the magazine Přítomnost bring an authentic perspective to the atmosphere in the Czechoslovak society at that time.

Blending of political and media power: The case of Radek John and his programme Bez cenzury
Štrup, David ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Moravec, Václav (referee)
This thesis considers the role of former politician and journalist Radek John in an investigative programme Bez cenzury on TV Barrandov. Even though John was a politician and leader of Czech political party Věci veřejné, he decided to return to journalism. He did so with no intention of resigning his chair in the Chamber of Deputies, part of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. With this in mind, this could be considered as a specific representation of political parallelism. This study describes specific cases where Radek John might have acted contrary to normative journalistic values and journalism ethics. Furthermore, the thesis analyses the possibility that Radek John's own political interests and opinions affected the television programme itself. The research is conducted using the method of a case study which combines qualitative and quantitative content analysis, qualitative interviews and other research methods. Consequently, the analysis found signs of biased reporting in the programme's introduction and some stories, which reflected Radek John's antipathy towards traditional political parties and their leaders. However, the research did not reveal any direct support of Věci veřejné or their representatives. Furthermore, the thesis also presents media, academic and political responses to...
