Horáček, Jiří ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Freidingerová, Tereza (referee)
Vietnamese food stores are located all over the Czechia and are often the only option for food purchases in non-metropolitan areas. This dissertation is focused on the study of Vietnamese retail in the context of the problems of serviceability of small towns and rural settlements in the Czechia. One of the main goals of this dissertation is to verify whether Vietnamese businesses are one of the ways to save the ever-falling rural service functions. Considering that the issue of rural service provision is an extensive topic, the work only yields partial results that will need to be verified in further studies. The introductory sections analyze the processes of Vietnamese migration into our country and subsequently characterize the development of retail. The next part focuses on the operation of Vietnamese retail where structured interviews conducted within the research serve as a main source of information. The quantitative part of the research focuses on the issue of the distribution of shops, and, in the empirical part, using questionnaire the functioning of the Zásmuky retail trade with a focus on Vietnamese food stores is assessed. The analysis shows that Vietnamese food stores are one of the solutions to maintaining business in rural communities. Due to the efficiency of their operation, which...
Vietnamese Community in Germany 1990 - 1995
Do Thu, Trang ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Filipová, Lucie (referee)
The Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) in the 70`s adopted and successfully integrated the boat people, who fled from war in Vietnam. On the contrary, the German Democratic Republic (GDR) had adopted in the 80`s tens of thousands of factory workers from several socialist countries, including Vietnam. Hence this, the fall of the Berlin Wall deepened the differences in the integration of these two groups. While the former "boat people" lived a decent life, their "East German" compatriots waited years for the allocation of permits to stay and faced the attacks of right-wing extremists. However, the era after the German reunification had also brought many opportunities to start a business freely and independently, even to start a family. This thesis clearly describes the different developments within the Vietnamese community in Germany between the years of 1990-1995, which stemmed precisely from the different conditions of emigration from Vietnam. The first part focuses mainly on the characterization of the Vietnamese workers in the GDR and the boat people. This allows comparing the different integration of both groups in other chapters. In contrast, the other ones deal with the specific issues that affected the Vietnamese community in years 1990-1995. Especially, the political struggle for the status of former...

Tungová, Lenka ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Švec, Štefan (referee)
Diploma thesis "Vạn Xuân" - Ten thousand springs: Vietnamese journal in Czech republic deals not only with the magazine itself, but also with the Vietnamese press in Czech Republic in general. It is impossible to study Vietnamese press in Czech Republic without historical knowledge about this community on Czech territory. Hence, in the first part of this paper, the Vietnamese migration is fully explained. The aim of this work is to find out, how magazine Vạn Xuân reflects parallel Words in which it works - in Czech majority and Vietnamese minor. It is also important to know the range of information from Vietnam that the journal brings. Since most of Vietnamese do not speak Czech well and can not obtain information from Czech media, Vietnamese magazines are their primary, sometimes the only information source that they have. Thereby, Vietnamese press in Czech Republic has an important role in shaping knowledge and maybe even opinion of its community. Vietnamese community is quite isolated from Czech society, since it is its natural character. However, by and by, it is still more vivid that without adaptation, the Vietnamese community can not adequately exist. It is necessary for them to be conscious about Czech matters of policy, economy, but also culture. Without this consciousness, they can get...
Representation of Vietnamese in the Czech newspapers
Bartůňková, Tereza ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
Diploma thesis "Representation of Vietnamese in the czech newspapers" deals with representation of this ethnic minority living in the Czech Republic in some czech newspapers. Vietnamese are the third biggest group of foreigners in the Czech Republic. They started coming to our republic in 50's by agreements between Czechoslovakia and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Some of them stayed here after 1989 but most of immigrants after 1989 are the new incomers, mostly they come even with families. The reasons of their arrivals are most often better economic situation or better education. The vietnamese community living here is quite reserved so the media are often the only opportunity how to gain some information about this group. But the studies show that Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic get into the media above all in context of criminality. The aim of the survey, done by means of quantitative content analysis, is to chart the representation of the Vietnamese - in what way and contexts the chosen media write about them, eventually find out the fixed ways of presenting the Vietnamese or their stereotypes.

The work uses a qualitative approach for data analysis that allows an insight into the lives of examined individuals. The results reflect the perspective of migrants and their family members.
