Study of the solar wind multicomponent structure and its variations in interaction regions
Ďurovcová, Tereza ; Šafránková, Jana (advisor) ; Borovsky, Joseph Eric (referee) ; Mostafavi, Parisa (referee)
The solar wind is a multicomponent plasma consisting of protons, electrons, and smaller amounts of heavy ions. Often, two proton populations moving different speeds occur simultaneously. The more abundant one is called the proton core and the less abundant one the proton beam. Among the ions heavier than protons, α particles (fully ionized helium) are the only species that significantly affect the solar wind dynamics and thermodynamics due to their highest abundance. The differences between the proton and α particle parameters are often used to identify the source regions of solar wind streams. However, the stream interactions and other processes can change mutual rela- tions between the solar wind components. The less abundant but important components (α particles and proton beam) can thus serve as probes of those processes. The aim of the thesis is to study their contribution to variations of the solar wind and winds perturbed by stream interactions. To contribute to these topics, both statistical and case studies of the spacecraft observations at distances 0.3 to 1 AU from the Sun were performed. This required a reprocessing of the Helios measurements to obtain not only the parameters of the dominant proton core, but also the proton beam and α particle parameters. We found a connection between the proton...
Intercultural differences in management in childcare facilities
Demyan, Nikolay ; Šafránková, Jana Marie (advisor) ; Kursch, Martin (referee)
The thesis focuses on the analysis of the management of selected organizations providing care for young children in terms of intercultural differences in the management style and principles of their managers from the majority society. The analysis is based primarily on the work of Geert Hofstede and Robert House, who revealed the sociological phenomenon of cultural dimensions. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to an analysis of the current legislative framework for the provision of early childhood education in Czech Republic and the position and role of the school or non-profit organization director as a manager. Special attention is paid to the concept of intercultural management as a specific area of people management and the basic theories of cultural dimensions of Geert Hofstede and Robert House are discussed, including the framing of the whole situation in the context of the Czech social and cultural environment. The practical part is focused on research of selected organizations providing care for young children. Due to the limited number of childcare facilities in the Czech Republic with a multicultural workforce, a qualitative research method, namely case study analysis using semi-structured interviews with managers of childcare organizations, was chosen to identify...
Analysis of the new employees adaptation in a selected organization
Šinfeltová, Karolína ; Šafránková, Jana Marie (advisor) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (referee)
The thesis focuses on the adaptation process in the selected organization, specifically on the analysis of the organization's approach to the adaptation process, and especially on the determination of employee satisfaction with this process. The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the organization's approach to the adaptation of new employees, to determine the satisfaction of employees with the adaptation process in the organization and to propose recommendations for the specific organization. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part focuses on defining the basic topics such as human resource management and adaptation process with the help of professional sources. The practical part, following the theoretical part, will then focus on the analysis of the approach of two selected departments of a specific organization to the adaptation process of new employees and the analysis of employee satisfaction with this process. Theoretical-empirical research methods will be used. The approach of the specific departments to the adaptation process will be analysed through interviews with the responsible employees, while employee satisfaction will be analysed through a questionnaire survey. At the end of the thesis, based on the results of the research investigation,...
Use of coaching as an educational method in business organizations
Matějková, Markéta ; Šafránková, Jana Marie (advisor) ; Liška, Roman (referee)
Considering the frequent and fast changes, technology development, new processes and globalization, education becomes more and more important. It impacts not only individuals but also organizations that need to have high quality employees who will be able to react to the changes and adapt to new conditions. To ensure process effectiveness, it is necessary to select appropriate educational methods when educating employees. This thesis deals with coaching, and its aim is to evaluate the possibility of using coaching as an educational method in business organization. In the theoretical part, the comparative and content-analysis methods were used and in the empirical part the data were collected through questionnaire and semi-structured and unstructured interviews. Research was executed among employees of business organizations, human resources personnel and managers who had experience with coaching. It was supplemented by an interview with a professional coach who provides coaching in organizations. The goal of the survey was to identify benefits of coaching for employee education and to detect its potential constraints. The results of the survey demonstrated that coaching can be considered as a suitable method for educating employees. The main benefit for employees is in improving their skills in...
Conceptualization of the departmental school model
Urbanová, Eva ; Šafránková, Jana Marie (advisor) ; Walterová, Eliška (referee) ; Vítečková, Miluše (referee)
The dissertation deals with the conceptualization of the model of the departmental school as a way of realization of managerial practices of students of the study programme School Management at the Faculty of Education of Charles University. The aim of the dissertation is to propose a concept of transferring specific knowledge and experience of secondary school principals by appropriate methods at management practices implemented in departmental schools to students of the study programme School Management, usable to transform their knowledge acquired in the theoretical part of teaching into skills applicable in practice in the school field. The theoretical part of the dissertation defines the departmental school as a place to transfer knowledge from experienced school principals to students, specifies the possibilities of managing and transferring explicit and tacit knowledge in the organization through a managerial approach, in the case of schools also through a pedagogical approach using experiential learning, and identifies the work activities and competencies of the manager and school principal. In the practical part of the dissertation, a detailed analysis of documents, publications and legal regulations was prepared in order to determine the roles, work activities and competences of the...
Multivariate ARCH and GARCH models
Šafránková, Jana ; Prášková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hurt, Jan (referee)
We study multivariate ARCH and GARCH models and their subsequent application to simulated and real data. In discussed models the conditional variance matrix is considered to be a function of lagged data process which is the subject of study. In case of GARCH models the conditional variance matrix is dependent on own lagged values, too. First of all, we deal with univariate ARCH and GARCH models to get some theoretical basis. The subsequent study extends this basis to multivariate models. A survey of multivariate GARCH models is presented in the next part of this thesis. Further study is devoted to maximum likelihood estimators of these models and we deal with alternatives to multivariate normal distribution which is a standard assumption of this method. We occupy ourselves with tests of these models, too. We mention both preestimation tests and postestimation tests to verify the adequacy of models. In conclusion we give practical examples which show di±culties of applications of these models for real data.
