This thesis focuses on the issue of Czech drama in the twenties of the 20th century. Specifically, it focuses on the repertoire of the National Theatre. In the first chapters, the state of drama in this period is briefly analysed. In next chapters, dramas are selected that were written by the Czech writers others than the Čapek brothers and introduced in the twenties of the 20th century. Three thematic pairs of dramas were chosen from this limited selection for the purpose of further analysis and comparison. The core and most important elements are the analysis and comparison of pairs of dramas whereas every pair composes of one successful and one unsuccessful drama. All dramas were introduced at the National Theatre in the twenties and all of them were considered as an average when compared to the work of the Čapek brothers. Furthermore, the analysis and comparison of every pair is accompanied by the contemporary critics and reviews published in the newspapers. Based on the comparison of both successful and unsuccessful dramas that are thematically close, the thesis outlines the information on most probable reason why every individual drama was successful or unsuccessful with the audience, on what was popular among the audience, on the contemporary trends and on the common taste of average...

Pražák, Michal ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
The main objective of the thesis is the evaluation of the development of avoidable mortality in selected European countries during 1980-2010 with emphasis on comparison of East and West. Concept of avoidable mortality was established to measure the effectiveness of the health care system in 70s of the past century. The main results of the thesis indicate different development of avoidable mortality during 80s in both parts of Europe. Inefficient medical care and inappropriate health policy in formal Eastern Bloc contributed to divergent trends of avoidable mortality in Europe. Different trends of mortality were observed in East European countries especially during the transformation process. The importance of selection of avoidable causes and age limits was confirmed. A Comparative Analysis of Canadian and Czech Security Policies in the Context of ISAF Mission: From Motivation to Exit
Křížová, Karolina ; Hynek, Nikola (advisor) ; Karásek, Tomáš (referee)
This work focuses on approach of security policy toward foreign missions and interventions. I focused on the application of the theory of comparative analysis in the social sciences . The aim of this work is to analyze the development of security policies in Canada and the Czech Republic in relation to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. Across-case comparative research metho emphasising the contrast of context separated the timeline of my work into two period: 2001-2006 and 2006-2014 . This paper examines the official positions of the Government of Canada and the Czech Republic as different context's members within the North Atlantic Treaty Organization . The data I worked with using techniques text-by-text, completed by point-by-point scheme. The idea is to demonstrate motivation of the States before joining the ISAF mission (2001) and the current reflection of the so-called exit strategy - only the Canadian ISAF mission has been terminated.. The result of this work is to understand the formation of security policy in the country from the Old continent as a new member of the NATO and long-term Alliance's member with different geographical and political environment. Different internal political developments in both countries had an influence on the shift in the priorities of the foreign.security...
Separatist conflict: comparative study of Sri Lanka and Aceh, Indonesia
Bartošová, Kateřina ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee)
The aim of the master thesis is to determine factors that contribute to peace settlement of separatist conflicts. It compares two separatist conflicts with different forms of termination. The Indonesian government signed a peace agreement with separatists in province of Aceh and offered them greater autonomy, whereas the government of Sri Lanka decided on military suppression of Tamil separatists. The analysis of the conflicts is based on six factors that are built on the study of Barbara Walter about the concept of reputation building. According to the concept, governments are less likely to go for peace settlement when facing more imperilling separatist groups, seeing that governments have to invest in reputation building. The comparative case study is based on following factors: potential future separatists, value of land currently under dispute, proportion of total population and territory, balance of power between separatists and government, political system with focus on democracy, degree of centralization/ federalism. The evidence seems to be strong that the theory of reputation building does not apply to selected cases because the peace settlement was achieved in Indonesia which has far more potential separatist groups than Sri Lanka. In conclusion, the thesis identifies following factors...

Methods: In this thesis I used the internal analysis, PEST analysis and comparative analysis, on whose basis I created SWOT analyses of both dance groups, thanks to which I suggested possible recommendations. Results: This thesis brings information about their current situation to both dance groups, points out the shortages and recommends steps for improvement. Both groups have been affected by worldwide economic crisis, which caused not only loss of members, but also loss of sponsors.
