Methodology for the processing of archival materials on the historical use of forest properties
Suchánková, Silvie ; Vild, Ondřej ; Szabó, Péter ; Chudomelová, Markéta ; Hédl, Radim
As a result of climate change, forestry has to deal with rapid changes of the environment. This has recently culminated in bark beetle calamities. More than ever before, there is a need for quality information about forests in order to implement effective adaptation measures to changing conditions. Knowledge of history allows us to understand the current situation and manage forests better. This methodology summarizes how to obtain and use the information on forest history. It provides an introduction to the study of archival materials in Czech archives and provides instructions for independent work. It focuses on the description of the archival network in the Czech Republic, introduces archival aids and archival terminology. It also lists important online databases and advises on how to proceed when working in the archive and when working with historical sources. Finally, the LONGWOOD database, containing large amounts of data on Moravian and Silesian forests is presented as an example of the use of archival materials.
Summary Research Report
Brůna, Josef ; Wild, Jan ; Hederová, Lucia ; Klinerová, Tereza ; Macek, Martin ; Urbanová, Renáta
The result has mainly a documentary and supporting role for further use of the main result - the microclimatic map. It documents the conditions of its creation and contains other valuable data. The research report will serve as a basis for evaluating the impact of microclimate on forest regeneration, protected species and forest habitats.

Chateau, city parks and gardens are perceived as harmonious parts of the landscape. Unfortunately, even these areas have to face various threats, and they can be a threat to the surrounding environment. The exhibition /catalogue presents a look at the organisms that threaten parks. These threats cover unwelcomed invaders covering invasive plants and small microorganisms in the soil, on facades, statues or in water. On the other hand, some species that are intentionally brought to the parks can be risky not only the gardens themselves but also their surroundings.

Methodology for predictive mapping of rare and endangered bryophytes distribution in the Czech Republic
Man, Matěj ; Wild, Jan
The methodology introduced certified procedure of using species distribution modelling to support discovery of new localities with presence of rare species of bryophytes and lichens in Czech Republic. The procedure available for general public, it provides algorithms, computation power and environmental data. User provides training data – coordinates of species presence. From the software interface it is also possible to request the coordinates directly from Database of Lichens and Bryophytes (DaLiBor). Georeferenced map is the output form the software. The aim of the methodology is to provide integrated tool for conservation planning and research to promote the bryological and lichenological field survey in Czech Republic. The methodology will help to focus the survey which could make the survey more efficient and cheaper according to money but also human resources. The methodology is based exclusively on free software, mostly open source and free licence. In the Czech Republic, the methodology provides modern software approach to target botanical research. In national practical nature conservation, it is all new application of established procedure from other fields.\n
Methodology of microclimate measurement with TMS microclimate stations
Brůna, Josef ; Wild, Jan ; Hederová, Lucia ; Klinerová, Tereza ; Macek, Martin ; Urbanová, Renáta
The methodology of microclimate measurement contains procedures for creating a representative network of stations on the examples of networks installed in the area of the Šumava National Park. It also deals with procedures for correct data acquisition and processing. The methodology will enable the NP Šumava Administration to continue data acquisitions from the newly created network after the end of the project, or to facilitate the creation of their own network for the study of other research questions.
Methodology of processing hemispherical photographs
Brůna, Josef ; Wild, Jan ; Hederová, Lucia ; Klinerová, Tereza ; Macek, Martin
The methodology of processing hemispherialc photographs is a complex set of activities, starting with the creation of an image with a fish-eye lens, image editing in graphic editors and ending with analysis in specialized software. The obtained data indicate the amount of radiation falling into the undergrowth and the method of processing affects their quality. The procedure developed by the GIS and Remote Sensing Department of BU CAS integrates methods from various programmes into a script in R.
Methodological tool for assessment of authenticity of woody taxa in garden monuments
Pejchal, Miloš ; Štefl, Lukáš
The aims of the publication are to enable activities in the field of determination of the taxonomic authenticity of woody species. We provide an approach suitable to cases when there is not enough data on the history of their use, both from archival materials and from the evaluation of woody vegetation elements preserved in the given monument, the results of garden archaeology, etc. The data covered by the publication contribute to the determination of both aspects of authenticity and for the evaluation of the authenticity of the material substance of woody vegetation structural elements. We also provide information on the time of introduction into culture.

Management of native and alien plants in garden monuments
Sádlo, Jiří ; Pergl, Jan ; Pejchal, Miloš ; Perglová, Irena ; Petřík, Petr ; Štefl, Lukáš ; Vojík, Martin
The work covers garden monuments in context of spontaneous nature and the occurrence of non-native plant species. We present the management approaches for selected groups of invasive species. The text was written in the context of fields other than monument care and ecology and nature conservatioin. We offer not a simplified methodological guide with a prepared solution of standard situations. We prefer to formulate the text at a greater distance and show the problems themselves, we offer a way to think about them. The approaches are accompanied with examples. In the text, we show local solutions using case studies.

Effectivity of invasive alien plant species control evaluation
Berchová-Bímová, K. ; Kadlecová, M. ; Vojík, Martin ; Vardarman, J.
This methodology is intended mainly for environmental agencies and other land managers, such as regional authorities and owners that are due to prevent and manage the introduction and spread of invasive alien species. The manual provides instructions for planning and realisation of IAS control project. In manual are described particular steps form the pre-project phase (planning and status quo) to the targets and their evaluation. In particular, there are described factors influencing the targets statement, subsequent control targets and their evaluation using indicators. The indicators show the level of the targets fulfil. Evaluation of whole project depends on targets fulfil a serve for the control project effectivity evaluation.
