This bachelor thesis deals with the translation of a didactic text from the electrical engineering field. The work aims to translate and analyze a didactic technical text and is divided into three main parts. The theoretical part introduces namely the characteristics of technical style and didactic style, types of translation procedures, translation transformation and the functional sentence perspective. The practical part presents an English translation of an excerpt taken from a university textbook and the analytic part aims presenting the problems that occurred during the translation process and the assessment of the characteristics of technical didactic style based on this translation analysis.

The task of the Bachalor thesis is to translate a scientific text from the field of nuclear power plants and to analyze the language phenomena in the text. The work is divided into two major parts – practical part and theoretical part. Practical part deals with the translation of the scientific text. In this Bachelor’s thesis commented translation is provided. The chosen book is called “Practical schemas and circuits in Electrotechnics 1” by Štěpán Berka. In my opinion, the analysis of the translation helps to understand the principles and the main problems that can appear during the translation process. This thesis tries to explain the nature of the translation of the book written in popular scientific style.

The aim of this semester thesis is to translate technical text from Czech language to English language in order to show translating capabilities of the author. Furthermore, author’s task is to comment on the topic of translation and differences between these two languages. This thesis, apart from introduction and conclusion, consists of two main parts. First one is Czech text dealing with technical problematics and translation of this text into English. In the thesis, both texts are present in order to be compared. This part is dominant in the means of extent. The second main part of this thesis is commentary to this translation, or rather commentary of the differences between target and source language. In this part the procedure of translation is also described, as well as some linguistic features that has been used.

Bachelor’s thesis “Electrotechnology – commented translation” aims at translating Czech scientific text into English language, which is used as a study material for students of Electrotechnology, and to convey comparative analysis of both the original and the translated text. The source text is divided into nine chapters from which several extracts were selected and analysed in terms of linguistics. Each of them is concerned with different area of electrical engineering and diverse variety of scientific terms is used. This bachelor’s thesis offers essential theory concerned with translation of scientific texts written in style of science and technology.

The concern of this thesis is a commented translation of an instructional text used in university courses Measurement in Electrical Engineering and Measurement in Audio Engineering. The translation was created for the use of future foreign students attending said courses. The commentary puts forth the reasoning behind the motivation to carry out the translation, views and theories applied during the translation process, encountered issues and their individual solutions, including specific examples, as well as a brief linguistic study of the text. In addition to the translation, this thesis describes the concept of glossaries that would accompany each set of instructions in the text. The final product of the translation is ready to be assessed to be an official study material.

In this bachelor's thesis, two translations are provided, the first of a popular scientific article, and the second of a technical text. With both translations, an analysis is presented, elaborating on reasons why the author has chosen this particular typical translation obstacles of the given text and its genre. In the conclusion we can find various differences between the expected translation obstacles and the results from practice. It also further compares these two texts and their genres from the translation standpoint.

Bakalářská práce se skládá ze dvou hlavních částí - z překladu dvou kapitol francouzské publikace s názvem L'épopée du jazz. Du blues au bop a z komentáře překladu. Výchozí text podává populárně-naučnou formou dějiny jazzové hudby. Překlad sestává z první kapitoly publikace, jež pojednává o počátcích jazzu, a z páté kapitoly o stylu zvaném bop. V komentáři je zvolený text analyzován z hlediska textových a kontextových faktorů a jsou uváděny konkrétní překladatelské problémy a jejich řešení.
