Enhancing parental competencies for children with developmental dysphasia

ANNOTATION: This thesis is concerned with problems of parents with children suffering from specific language impainnent, with their parental competencies and their fortification. The thesis consists of six individual chapters. The first four chapters are theoretical, aimed at definition of basic tenns such as family, disability, speech therapy, cooperation of the speech therapist with the family of a child suffering from SLI. The fourth chapter features an analysis of accessible foreign parental programmes and also a brief characterization of domestic citizen-action public providing logopaedic or other care to people with disabilities. The fifth chapter includes an own support programme for parents of children with specific language impairment. The sixth chapter is of practical orientation; it consists of an analysis of an inquiry via questionnaire. Parents of children with specific language impainnent are the respondents of this inquiry. The aim of the above mentioned inquiry is to ascertain demand for parental support courses. Unsustainable business practices coupled with an illusion of the masses plagues the higher education model in the United States today. It used to hold that college was the key to a successful job for fresh graduates. . . . We are in the midst of a speculative bubble composed of inflated expectations about the university system. This paper aims to analyze that there is indeed a speculative bubble of the US Higher Education system. The increased demand for college, skyrocketing tuition and room & board fees, as well as easier access to loans for funding have contributed to the formation of this bubble.

Outdoor activity courses' influence on the development of social cohesion and relationships in groups of adolescents

Title: Outdoor activity courses' influence on the development of social cohesion and relationships in groups of adolescents. Aims: The aim of this thesis is to find out whether outdoor activity courses support the development of social cohesion and relationships in groups of adolescents. Methods: The survey was realised by questionnaires. We used two different instruments - Group Cohesion Evaluation Questionnaire which was evaluated by matched-sample t-test and sociometric test whose results are presented by the method called sociomapping. Results: Comparing the results of pre-test and post-test we realised that 3-days outdoor activity courses support the development of social cohesion by adolescents. We proved increase in sympathies, attachment and also more positive and stronger mutual relationships in all classes which is presented in the sociomaps. Aldous Huxley's early novels of ideas: from Crome Yellow to Those Barren Leaves

The literary reputation of Aldous Huxley, the novelist, has scarcely ever been as good as that of Aldous Huxley, the essayist. In fact, as some critics claim, Huxley's novels have the crucial flaw of not being proper novels at all - they are (the critics say) 1 actually essays, some of them more skillfully dramatized than others. Whether the novels really suffer from their essayistic quality is a question to be answered by the reader; certain it is, though, that mixing the two genres, the novel and the essay, was Huxley's intention: As he once acknowledged in an interview, his aim as a novelist was ~to arrive, technically, at a perfect fusion of the novel and the essay"z. What are the main features of a Huxleyan essayistic novel? First , it is scarcity of plo t. In most Huxley' s novels nothing ever happens: people come and go, they meet and part, they (try to) make love, and - most importantly - they talk. This is, of course, true especially of Huxley's early conversation novels, a late novel like Ap e and E s s en c e probably being the most noticeable exception. Another aspect of the essayistic novel follows on the first. Lincoln's Reconstruction westof the Mississippi River: Restoretion of loyal civil governments in Arkansas and Louisiana, 1862-1865

In the course of the American Civil War, in four occupied southern states loyal civil gov ernments were established and in three other states at least attempts at reconstruction took place. The master thesis "Lincoln's Reconstruction west of the Mississippi River: Restoration of loyal civil gov ernments in Arkansas and Louisiana, 1862-1865" treats the process of wartime reconstruction of the Union in accordance within recent historiography that disputes revisionist accounts of the topic. The thesis argues that the President held to his moderate vision throughout the Civil War and did not de part from it in favour of radical conceptions by the end of the conflict. Lincoln's policy was practical, opposed to dogmatic, purpose approach of his radical fellow partisans. Two case studies of reconstruction on the state level are to show that the presidential policy was a proper one. The peculiarities of each state asked for differentiated handling. Louisiana and Arkansas were chosen for their abysmally different social, economic and political features yet common war experience. In terms of wealth, density of population, and share of slaves in its number, Louisiana and Arkansas were situated on opposite extremes of the scale. Defence of the nation until the spring 1940

Obrana národa byla jednou z řady odbojových organizací, které působily za okupace na území bývalého Československa. Bývá zařazována do tradičního trojlístku centrálních nekomunistických organizací- ON,PÚ a PVVZ. Oproti ostatním dvěma převážně civilním organizacím to byla převážně organizace vojenská. Zasahovala svojí organizační strukturou z centra až do malých městeček a vesnic. Za svůj hlavní cíl měla obnovu ČSR v před mnichovských hranicích. Snažila se systematicky připravovat na ozbrojené vojenské vystoupení a tomuto úkolu věnovala největší pozornost. V prvním roce okupace byla bezesporu největší a nejaktivnější organizací domácího od boje. Tato práce by chtěla alespoň malým dílem přispět k poznání aktivity a půso bení ON v prvním roce oku pace. Celá práce je rozdělena do čtyř částí. První část je věnována počátkům odboje. V krátkosti je vylíčeno formování a působení ostatních (civilních) organizací domácího odbojePÚ, PVVZ a založení vojenské odbojové organizace Obrana národa.
