Measuring efficiency of hospitals in the Czech Republic
Procházková, Jana ; Chalupka, Radovan (referee) ; Gregor, Martin (advisor)
This thesis estimates cost efficiency of 99 general hospitals in the Czech Republic during 2001-2008 using Data Envelopment Analysis and Stochastic Frontier Analysis. It tests comparability of their results finding out a certain qualitative similarity. Next, determinants were added into SFA and efficiency of Czech hospitals examined. The presence of inefficiency is group specific even having accounted for various determinants. The effects of determinants were tested. Inefficiency increases with teaching status, more than 20,000 treated patients a year, not-for-profit status, larger share of the elderly in the municipality and average salary in the district. Inefficiency decreases with less than 10,000 patients treated a year, larger population, higher unemployment rate and more hospitals in the region.

Life management - important concept in psychology
Procházka, Jan ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Bahbouh, Radvan (advisor)
The thesis brings forward an analysis of the phenomenon of life management (LM) and its research. The introduction ponders over the level of knowledge of the theme and its interpretation; the theoretical part deals with comparison of related theories or, to say it in another words, of theoretical foundations of the phenomenon of LM, taking their similarities and differences into account, where the conclusion of the thesis is that the phenomenon of life management is absolutely necessary; and the practical part deals with field research. In total, 125 subjects took part in it. The research combined various methods - interviews, life axes and questionnaires. The participants were asked to answer questions regarding the management of their own life, and the basic characteristics of it. Based on an analysis of categories, a theory of life management was laid down based on the most relevant pieces of knowledge. LM is a complex and individual phenomenon. Obviously adverse external factors, e.g. poverty, unemployment or illness, weren't necessarily signs of inadequate life management in the studied population. Mostly, the respondents associated proper life management with an idea of initiative and proper provision for themselves (or for their near relations), meeting their own goals and happiness. LM includes a...

Effectiveness of retraining courses in the Pribram district in 2008-2011
Servus, Martin ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Durdisová, Jaroslava (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of effectiveness and intention of retraining courses in the Pribram district in 2008-2011. In the Pribram district an observation has been made, a growth accounting of unemployment, a significant decrease of free jobs and increase of long-term unemployed workers. Effectiveness and intention of the retraining courses have been evaluated with the help of targeting index and gross effect. Each year after taking the retraining course at least 65% of workers have found a job withing 12 months. Non-reciprocal proportion had been observed between the attained age and highness of gross effect and reciprocal proportion between the educational level and highness of gross effect. In the district there have been no signs of queue theories. During the crisis, the disadvantaged population had noticed a increase in the success of job hunting. The analysis of targeting index discovered in activities of the authorities signs of 'creaming off' effect. In the participation of the retraining courses, more perspective candidates have been selected, compared to those candidates who needed the most support. The data source for this thesis had been the integrated portal MPSV, ČSÚ and the Labour office in Pribram.

The history of Prague administration of water-supply ingineering in the interwar period
Drnek, Kryštof ; Jásek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Štaif, Jiří (advisor)
The administration of Prague`s waterworks was one part of the citie`s main administration. It was organized into three parts, which had their own agenda. The parts were: the Executive council of the public waterworks, the Waterworks office XIII and the Office of the public waterworks and the 11th department (Waterworks authority). In general, the administration and offices was bound to the imperial era, which had ended by the first world war. The roots of the republic`s offices laid in the year 1888, when the Executive council of the public waterworks and the Water office was found. In year 1889 was found the Waterworks office XIII and the Office of the public waterworks but its agenda was unknown. The Water office was transformed into the 5th department in year 1904 and finally in year 1922 into the 11th department (Waterworks authority). The Executive council of the public waterworks was the main administration center of prague`s waterworks or I think so. It is hard to tell where the truth lay because there is no documents which demostrate the real situation in the administration. But the clues says that the Executive council of the public waterworks was the administration`s head. Its members were voted in the elections and they were also members of the citie`s council. In my opinion the Executive council...

Cohabitations: trends and patterns
Ptáčková, Kateřina ; Bartoňová, Dagmar (referee) ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor)
This work deals with assessing the trends and patterns of cohabitation in European countries. On the basis of in depth analysis of available data, the Czech Republic might be classified among countries with similar trends and patterns of cohabitation. Foreign scientific literature, international surveys, censuses and population registers were used as the source information. This study also addresses family policy and legal regulations, which govern the relationships of cohabitation, have an impact on the context of cohabitation formation and thus create the conditions in which couples decide whether to marry or not. Cohabitations is a complex and complicated phenomenon so that it is not quite possible to come to definite conclusions. The low frequency of cohabitation and high proportion of divorced cohabitants, ranks the Czech Republic into countries of central and eastern Europe. However, the cohabitation structured according to the highest level of education or other indicators is in this group wholly different. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Landscape typology of the Czech republic
Romportl, Dušan ; Lipský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kolejka, Jaromír (referee) ; Hrnčiarová, Tatiana (referee)
29 number of framework was set expertly. The next step affected by author of classification is the choice of training objects. For each of the classes 5 objects were considered that cover the range of variability of natural conditions. However, their selection was also a affected by author's choice. Verification and comparison of the results of object-oriented analysis with traditional methods of pixel-based classification showed differences in the of classification methods. In the case of object- oriented analysis spectral information are evaluated for the whole object. The highly heterogeneous objects such information may be averaged out and the object is thus classified as atypical representative of a certain class. Pixel classification methods, however, assess the quality of each pixel of the raster, so that any heterogeneous objects are divided into several classes. Using the results of the supervised classification the accuracy of object-oriented classification has been confirmed, considering a few exceptions. 4.1 THEORETICAL ISSUES Serious question of developing comprehensive landscape typology is the purpose and reason for such action. Pedroli et al. (2006) points to a general demand for accurate, highly detailed and high quality representative spatial information on the status and development of...

Social protection of poverty-stricken in Czech republic
Strnadová, Barbora ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
Poverty is one of the most oppressive topics all over the world. It is being fought both in developed and developing countries. As for the Czech Republic, poverty is associated with unemployment, especially with the long-term unemployment. On 1st January 2007, two new acts have come into effect; Act no. 110/2006 about minimum and living wage and Act no. 111/2006 about help in substantial shortage. These acts newly regulate the conditions of social benefits and its income with the objective of lowering the long-term unemployment. They incorporate elements that would sanction those who are unemployed and passive in search of a new job, and on the other hand should give advantage to those seeking actively. The purpose of my work is to examine the impacts and consequences of these two acts, and whether these has been any change in the long-term unemployment rate, positive change in its absolute values or positive change in its structure.
