Gambling as a Black Hole of the Social Universe
Horáček, Michal ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
This master's thesis aims both to present empirical criticism of the published case studies of gambling, in particular the Deep Play by Clifford Geertz, which is the most cited one, and to propose such a methodology which would enable us to derive more meaningful data from the ethnographic material on gambling. In this context it is also needed to question the conventional conceptual categories which are internally conflicting as appears both in common speech and in the works of the social science scholars such as Johan Huizing, Eugen Fink, Roger Caillois, Gerda Reith and Jackson Lears.

Transition from regular to chaotic motion in black hole magnetospheres
Kopáček, Ondřej ; Karas, Vladimír (advisor) ; Kulhánek, Petr (referee) ; Rezzolla, Luciano (referee)
Cosmic black holes can act as agents of particle acceleration. We study properties of a system consisting of a rotating black hole immersed in a large-scale organized magnetic field. Electrically charged particles in the immediate neighborhood of the horizon are influenced by strong gravity acting together with magnetic and induced electric components. We relax several constraints which were often imposed in previous works: the magnetic field does not have to share a common symmetry axis with the spin of the black hole but they can be inclined with respect to each other, thus violating the axial symmetry. Also, the black hole does not have to remain at rest but it can instead perform fast translational motion together with rotation. We demonstrate that the generalization brings new effects. Starting from uniform electro-vacuum fields in the curved spacetime, we find separatrices and identify magnetic neutral points forming in certain circumstances. We suggest that these structures can represent signatures of magnetic reconnection triggered by frame-dragging effects in the ergosphere. We further investigate the motion of charged particles in these black hole magnetospheres. We concentrate on the transition from the regular motion to chaos, and in this context we explore the characteristics of chaos in...

Polarization vector transport in Kerr geometry
Bursa, Michal ; Horák, Jiří ; Karssen, G.
In this paper the authors proved a set of practical formulae that are helpful in calculating the orientation of polarization vectors that are parallel transported from a region of strong gravitational field of a Kerr black hole to a distant observer.

Infrared-excess Source DSO/G2 Near the Galactic Center: Theory vs. Observations
Zajaček, M. ; Eckart, A. ; Peissker, F. ; Karssen, G. ; Karas, Vladimír
Based on the monitoring of the Dusty S-cluster Object (DSO/G2) during its closest approach to the Galactic Center supermassive black hole in 2014 and 2015 with ESO VLT/SINFONI, we further explore the model of a young, accreting star to explain observed spectral and morphological features. The stellar scenario is supported by our ndings, i.e., ionized-hydrogen emission from the DSO that remains spatially compact before and after the peribothron passage. The detection of DSO/G2 object as a compact single-peak emission-line source is not consistent with the original hypothesis of a core-less cloud that is necessarily tidally stretched, hence producing a double-peak emission line prole around the pericentre passage. This strengthens the evidence that the DSO/G2 source is a dust-enshrouded young star that appears to be in an accretion phase. The infall of material from the circumstellar disc onto the stellar surface can contribute signicantly to the emission of Br line as well as the observed large line width of the order of 10 angstrom.

Tidal disruption events from a nuclear star cluster as possible origin of transient relativistic spectral lines near SMBH
Karas, Vladimír ; Dovčiak, Michal ; Kunneriath, Devaky ; Yu, W. ; Zhang, W.
The authors discuss a possibility that a tidal disruption event near a dormant supermassive black hole can give rise to spectral features of iron in 6-7keV X-ray signal.

Sec. Progressive Form of Multiple Sclerosis : Brain Atrophy and Leasion Load in MRI
Mašek, Martin ; Seidl, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Süssová, Jana (referee) ; Lisý, Jiří (referee)
Secondary progressive form of multiple sclerosis (SPMS) is characterized by a steady progression of clinical neurological damage with or without superimposed relapses and minor remissions and plateaus. Patients who develop SPMS will have previously experienced a period of RRMS, most of the untreated patients with RRMS will go on to develop SPMS in 10-20 years, time to transition is prolonged with a proper therapy. Based on clinical status alone, it is difficult to precisely establish when RRMS converts to SPMS although it is clearly important for appropriate treatment. The aim of the study was to monitor the interaction between the clinical manifestation of the SPMS expressed in the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) and abnormal findings in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. Twelve patients diagnosed with SPMS were included in this study, once a year the evaluation of the clinical status of the patient expressed in EDSS was performed, usually at the time of MRI examination. All patients underwent a MRI examination every 12 months for 3 years. Utilizing a special program developed in our Institution , the following parameters were evaluated during each MRI examination: brain tissue volume (brain atrophy status), lesion load in FLAIR sequence, volume of ""black holes"" (volume of...

The Manual
Klusová, Katarína ; Houser, Milan (referee) ; Rathouský, Luděk (advisor)
A mixture of symbols, authorities and theories that man need´s to absorb nowdays, is source for many confusing manuals, how to deal with our life, make decisions, or which political party to vote. Exactly the same time, these symbols of authority and theories are an essential part of our culture and education, and that they are looking for inspiration, information and explanations. Sometimes I dream that my source of information is nothing more than nature and its observations. In a utopian world without information provided by them I watched the world at my own pace, subsequently walking from one information to another. In the real world from different disciplines, which explore the universe in great detail, vast quantities of information flows, which the ordinary man in his level is not capable scientificly understand. For instance, when I read about Hawking's paradox, I can imagine how it's probably meant, but I don´t understand the calculations, and resources .. Well anyway, I add this information to my concept of understanding space and black holes. I perceive universe through intuition and its fragments-specific expression of the universe- I perceive through reason. The first series is a picture of my view of the universe by means of symbols - codes that people agreed use- to communicate the inexpressible. Universe is still on the eyes, and whenever I start to deal with its sub-parts, I can recognize its wholeness . Other pictures are formulation and development of selected key topics of the universe (according to my personal priorities). At this point, my work is mainly based on switching between a total and detail. What happens to the "collection" image, and affects other images detail. The last image of the series is once again the image of the wholeness . The spiral development to the second floor above the first image. Projecting the universe through me will be images transformation. Picture, even it is symbolic and symbolizing, is forming to kind of logo. Moreover, It occurs the same logo as a symbol of the universe mirroring by my being. Universe in the universe. Microcosm in the macrocosm. My individuality in the universe. Fractal.

The dehumanization of thinking
Kršňák, Jan ; Hanáková, Petra (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor)
This is not a summary, but a meaningless part of my thesis. Even it is not a part of it at all. There is no summary in czech. There is no method, but a lot of ruptures, errors, guessworks, and above all gaps. This text is a singular discourse, closed into itself like a black hole and a conceptual film, which has to be seen by reading and read by looking. There is no particular message, this storytelling has no start and no end and doesn't care about present anything to a reader. It is a text which has to be used, because you can't find out any meanings here, if you don't participate in creating them. It is a pulse burst, acummulation of small stories. I use biology, physics, geology, bacteriology and other siences that I don't understand, what helps me to use their stories by the way I need to tell my story which consists only of gaps. There is no diference between physical laws and rules of football. Nature has no grammar and some particles deny to be right, others are missing. Human brain is a result of an easy level of computer game. I don't read Aristotle because of he hadn't a TV set at home. Racionality was dissolved by storytelling and imagination. I use works of Deleuze, Guattari, Baudrillard, Virilio, Debord, De Landa and advertising industry. A rock is considered to be a movie here. A landscape is...
