Education of Seniors in Civil Society Organizations in the Czech Republic

Organisations of different type and legal status engage in senior education in the Czech Republic. Civil society organisations available online are not the dominant providers of educational courses and activities for seniors in the Czech Republic. Civil society organisations represent 17 % of all providers of educational courses available online. Six civil society organisations engaged in senior education were found in the region Vysočina. Participants of the educational courses consider all activities practised in these courses to be education because they learn new skills there. They appreciate these courses for the education itself, for meaningful free time spending and for the opportunity of active life even in the time of senescence. For nearly the most important point considered by the participants so as the organisators is connecting and broadening of social contacts of the participants and creating of social network. This can be considered for the most distinct manifestation of civil society concerning senior education.
Senior's Education and social mobilization in social facilities

The thesis is focused on Education and motivating seniors in social institutions and it aims to map the possibilities of education for older people. First the theoretical part deals with the current theme of aging, attitudes of the society to the elderly people and also a range of institutional education for seniors. It also points to the fact that the loss of self-sufficiency and social placement into a residential facility must not forcibly terminate social human activity. The author describes the possible pitfalls of seniors' position in the constitutional device, the phase of adaptation and education. Second the practical part compares the qualitative conditions, features of educational work and the satisfaction of seniors with activation - educational programs in various types of residential facilities. The important finding is that a proportionately larger capacity of facilities in increasing the range of educational programs and the satisfaction of educators with creative work. Most of the interviewed seniors are satisfied with educational programs and particularly welcomes a common form of education, aimed at the enhancement of cognitive functions.
Analysis of financial literacy of the elderly in the Karlovy Vary region

The bachelor thesis is studying the financial literacy and financial education of eldery adults. The thesis is devided into four chapters. In the first chapter we follow up with the elderhood and aging, current demografic situation in the Czech Republic and it's possible progress in the future. This chapter is also focused on the changes brought by elderhood and social and economic consequences of aging. The second chapter is dedicated to education of older adults, to it's specificities and to selected institutions that provide education to older adults. The third chapter is devoted to the financial literacy. It contains, besides the definition and demarcation of financial literacy, also documents at the international and national level, which deal with those issues and research which dealt with the financial literacy of citizens of the Czech Republic. Furthermore it describes the problems of financial literacy amongst eldery citizens and projects that are dedicated to its support specifically for this group of citizens. The purpose of the participation of the elderly in the interest-based education (Motivation analysis of older adults living within Prague 12)

This bachelor thesis is focused on the elderly education, especially the motivation of older people to participate in educational activities. The paper consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with an overview of basic knowledge about the issue with the use of literature both domestic and foreign authors. The second, practical part contains a description of own empirical survey. The aim of the survey is to identify the main reasons for seniors to participate in organized interest-based education, fractional goal is to detect the most common barriers, obstacles to such participation. The survey was conducted by a quantitative method of questioning and the collected data was further evaluated and commented. Education of older adults in the area in of new media

In the paper characterized were chosen, most important determinants of educating seniors in the matter of new media. Learning and teaching of seniors were depicted through "non-formal system" created by Universities of Third Age (U3A). Actions of teacher and adult students connected with the effective learning about possibilities connected with new media discussed were in following dimensions: social changes, transformations of education of people in late adulthood, individual features of seniors and institutional and theoretical solutions in the matter of andragogy and educational gerontology. The book also contains a chapter in which described were transformations of society by new media and causes and results of digital exclusion among seniors. The crucial part of the paper is a practical answer to the question, how to educate seniors in "non-formal education system" in the matter of electronic media? To achieve this, presented was a complex methodical proposition derived from andragogical and geragogical theories with a reference to didactic practice of the author in computer sections of universities of third age. Old age in the context of human life and the problem of discrimination against seniors

This thesis concerns the old age in the context of human life and the problems of senior discrimination. It's divided into two parts, theoretic and empiric. In theoretic part the old age and ageing are characterized, the aspects of old age are analysed and the role of gerontopedagogic is defined. With respect to demographic prospect, the gravity of senior discrimination is emphasized as an undesirable social-pathological phenomenon. In empiric part, the author tries to reveal on the basis of field research, whether today's seniors feel being discriminated. The extent of discrimination is being compared between the seniors living by them own in a big city (Prague) and smaller town (Vrchlabí). The work is focused on identification of circumstances, which can influence the senior discrimination, and tries to answer, which parts of social life are projected to the discrimination of old people. History, present and perspectives of the Universtities of the Third Age in the Czech republic

The bachelor thesis is focused on senior's education that is put into wider psychosocial and economic framework. My thesis characterizes ageing, old age and seniors. Ageing of population is evidenced by demographic dates. It describes negative social phenomenons, especially "ageismus" and an endeavour of society to restrict these negative social phenomenons e.g. prosenior education. The thesis mentions economic impacts of ageing upon society. It contents some documents, both national and international, for endorsment of seniors. These documents declare social, medical and economic importance of care of senior's group. These documents place emphasis on active old age that ensure better quality of life in old age. The education is one of the possibilities. The senior's education is attached enormous meaning. There is originated new pedagogic discipline, which deal with specifics of senior's education, gerontopedagogy. University of the Third Age as part of lifelong learning system

The bachelor's thesis titled "University of the Third Age as part of lifelong learning system" deals with senior education with focus on the University of the Third Age. In the theory part, some important terms are explained there according to special literature, senior education is described there and also other educational opportunities for seniors in the Czech republic. There is also characterized the University of the Third Age, its history and how it works abroad. The thesis focuses also on the University of the Third Age at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (CULS). The application part is focused on finding some information about students of the University of the Third Age at CULS. Concretely, the thesis discovers who the students of the University of the Third Age at CULS are, their satisfaction with lectors, their general satisfaction with the University of the Third Age at CULS and which topics they would be interested in. The quastionnaires in a paper form were used for the survey.
Study the Causes of Different Interests of Older People - Men and Women to the University of the Third Age

The study analyzes the courses of the University of the Third Age in the last five years, organized by the Centre for Lifelong Learning, Faculty of Management with emphasis on the participation of men and women. Given that at present the courses of the University of the Third Age usually significantly dominated by women, the aim of the analysis and subsequent survey of seniors determine the causes of this situation and try to suggest how these differences between the sexes limit.
Education in the later age as a way to improve the quality of life and personal satisfaction

Universities of the Third Age (U3A) serve a specific task in the area of education or if you like life-study. They are adherent to universities and open to wider public and its educational needs. They provide general, special-interest and non-professional education on university level. The history of an establishment of education of senior people in programs of the University of the Third Age in the Czech Republic starts in 1980{\crq}s. The first University of the Third Age was established at the Palacky University in Olomouc in 1987, other two at the Charles University in Prague and at the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsner. In 1992 U3A was established at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. The University of South Bohemia has been offering 33 educational programs, modules and courses to 1125 senior people. It provides them with the opportunity of further education, learning and use, it gives chance to implement interests, opens possibilities of new contacts, including intergenerational ones. The Bachelor{\crq}s Thesis presents a draft history of the University of the Third Age at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in the period from 1992 to 2010. The Thesis specifies priorities of development in the time of implementation of comprehensive educational programs, interprets results of an assessment of attendants of the selected educational programs implemented in the academic year of 2009/2010. The offer of educational programs, modules and courses for the academic year 2009/2010 it documents in an appendix. The Bachelor{\crq}s Thesis and its results are available to students, research workers in the area of education of later age people as well as specialists community. Partial results of the Thesis were presented by the author at the ``Students specialist conference of the University of the Third Age at the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice{\crqq} held on 27 May 2009, at the ``Generation 50plus`` conference with an international attendance held from 21 to 22 April 2009 and in the article called ``Offer of educational opportunities for active senior people of the University of the Third Age at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice in the academic year 2008/2009`` published in the Problems of the 50plus generation composite book 2009. It considers education in later age as a way to improvement of the quality of life of senior people and their personal satisfaction.
