Citrus in still life (theoretical-practical thesis)

Citrus in still life This bachelor´s thesis deals with the images of citruses in a still-life. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the treatise of the still-life phenomenon and the analyzing the symbolic importance of citruses at different time period. Also studies and compares interpretations of fruit still-life paintings of selected authors. This thesis presents painters like Girolamo dai Libri, Caravaggio, Willem Kalf, Pieter Claesz, Gustav Courbet, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and more. There are introduced contemporary creations of domestic painters such as Jan Mikulka or Hynek Martinec. The practical part mainly includes the preparatory sketches, paintings and two final large-format paintings.

Diese Diplomarbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem zeitgenössichen Trend des Körperkultes und mit dem Mythus der Schönheit, mit seinen biologischen und kulturell historischen Wurzeln. Ich versuche aufzuklären, warum die Schönheit in der heutigen Gesellschaft so geschlechtsbedingt ist. Und warum gerade die Frau mit dem schönen Geschlecht identifiziert wird. Weiter studiere ich gesellschaftliche Mechanismen, die eine Jagd nach dem perfekten Körper legitimieren. Ich beschreibe auch ihre Folgen auf der individuellen und gesellschaftlichen Ebene.

Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer The focus of the present study is mainly on the discussion of the process of understanding and emergence of meaning. Using the example of Gadamer's hermeneutics it becomes clear what are the limits of positive attempt to express conditions of understanding within the context of the philosophy of finitude. In spite of its undeniable benefits, hermeneutic understanding shows itself to be vulnerable towards ideology and it could be seen as suspected of hidden normativity thanks to its emphasis on agreement and coherency. Derrida's deconstruction on the other hand shows the dynamics of emergence of meaning in language, it emphasizes plurality and ambiguity in contrast towards totalizing unicity and agreement; however, due to this approach, it is unable to offer anything close to what we call the truth. In a parallel line of interpretation, philosophical- antropological approach of Ernst Cassirer standing in comparison with Heidegger's existential analytics of Dasein shows that already at the fundamental level in the process of establishment of terms and concepts and earlier our understanding is already determined to a certain extent. TITLE: Czech and Russian Phraseology with Animals in Comparison AUTHOR: Veronika Novotná DEPARTMENT: Department of Russian studies and linguodidactics SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Lenka Havelková, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This bachelor thesis is based on phraseologisms which use names of animals. It compares Czech and Russian phraseologisms. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with the phraseology itself and concentrates on the concepts such as phraseologism, idiom, proverb, comparison, etc. Practical part of the thesis analyses concrete Czech and Russian phraseological units involving the names of animals. These phrases are compared and determined taking into account the extent of their equivalence. Synoptic charts provide the meaning and origin of the Czech and Russian phraseologisms according to specialized phraseological and etymological dictionaries. The extent of equivalence of particular phraseologisms is defined in these charts. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare Russian and Czech phraseologisms mainly from their content and formal points of view, and find out the extent of their equivalence. Interlingual Homonyms in Czech - Russian Comparative Frame

This bachelor thesis deals with interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms and their typology. The theoretical part of the thesis is concerned with paradigmatic relations, namely with antonymy, synonymy, polysemy and paronymy where an individual chapter devoted to the clarification and classification of homonyms and interlingual homonyms as such. The practical part consists of a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms. Each homonymic pair is given in a separate table in order to create a well-arranged system. The examples of sentences or collocations, which the given entries contain, are also presented in each table. The aim of the thesis is to create a dictionary of interlingual Czech-Russian homonyms which could be used as a tool in teaching Russian. It also presents a theoretical overview of interlingual homonymy with focus on Czech-Russian comparative perspective.
Conflict and blending of cultural signs in fictional world of novels by Louise Erdrich

The aim of this paper is to inspect the work of Louise Erdrich with the optics of semiotics, literary theory and cultural anthropology and to find topics related to the cultural conflict of Native American and Christian tradition. The theoretical part is devoted to the theories of the ontological definition of the fictional world, its relation to culture and its construction within a literary piece. In the practical part, we will deal with the cultural features associated with nature, religion, space and social ordering, as they are illustrated in the novels. The paper is not an anthropological material dealing with Native American culture as such. Here we perform a literary analysis and examine the anthropomorphic dimension of the unique fictional world.
