Šuhajová, Klára ; Osvaldová, Barbora (advisor) ; Halada, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with comparison of regular sections of "tramping" magazine Tramp, published between the World War I and the World War II (so called the First Czechoslovak Republic period), and a modern magazine Puchejř. (Tramping in Czech and Slovak language describes a movement incorporating woodcraft, hiking/backpacking/camping and scouting, with a characteristic flavour of and styled on American culture, especially Wild West). Forms of the First Czechoslovak Republic "tramping" and present movement differ in many ways. I expected, that due to these differences, the content of these magazines from different periods will be divergent. The task of this thesis is to find and compare these differences. The thesis consists of two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with differences between the historical and present form of "tramping" itself, and "tramping" magazines. Practical part examines the articles in regular sections of magazine Tramp and magazine Puchejř using the method of content analysis. The 22nd volume of the magazine Puchejř and the first six numbers of the 3rd volume of the magazine Tramp were used as research samples. The research confirmed the hypothesis. It was partly proved, that the articles of regular sections of researched magazines are...

For the purpose of this thesis, interviews were carried out with all parties involved in the functioning of these clubs, namely leaders, instructors, parents and of course also the current and former members of these clubs. For comparison of some statements, an interview with a leader of a very similar, but non-coeducational club was carried out. The results showed that non-coeducational clubs are beneficial for children because the children have the opportunity to access activities normally carried out by the members of the opposite sex, and to do so without gender-motivated social prejudices. Additionally, the approach and attitudes of the leaders have great influence on the running of the club, the nature...

Trampers from Brno in the era of so-called normalization
Polouček, Oto ; Altman, Karel (advisor) ; Hlaváček, Jiří (referee)
Tramping represents a uniquely Czech phenomenon as a form of leisure in contact with nature as well as a sort of informal pooling. It starts off at the beginning of the interwar period in Czechoslovakia, develops during the so called normalization Era (1969-1989) and continues to exist up to the present days. The main objective of this thesis is to highlight some of the basic conditions of the development of this phenomenon in certain examined periods of time by means of an analysis of life stories. The focus shall be located on specific forms of motivation for tramping, values associated with this activity by the trampers and the role of the collective in the activity. The Normalization Era is particularly interesting for an exploration of the relationship between tramping and power in authoritarian environments such as those from our recent History. The main, albeit not the exclusive research materials for this diploma thesis, has been taken from narrative sources. The study concentrates on the city of Brno as a particularly active location in which tramping activities have been taking place all along a extensive period of time in History. Environmental frugality in the lifestyle of modern day young Tramps or 'What is taken into the forest also comes out.'
Sobotková, Jana ; Novotná, Hedvika (advisor) ; Braun Kohlová, Markéta (referee)
This thesis is an attempt to detect and interpret the elements of environmental frugality in the lifestyle of young Tramps, mainly in connection with activities related to their everyday lives. Based on a qualitative approach in the form of semi-structured interviews, I am trying to ascertain the point of view of the informants in several areas. These areas are mainly represented by the concept of tramping itself and its related forms of leisure activities, attitudes and preferences in selected areas of lifestyle (housing, food and waste, travel, transport and leisure, everyday objects, clothing), relating to nature, to the environment, nature protection and reflection of the current problems in this field, including the reflection of their own attitude (concept of responsibility, risk, etc.). I interpret the observed data on the basis of selected theoretical concepts, especially using Jan Krajhanzl's eco-psychological model of relationship to nature and its components, with emphasis on environmental awareness as one of its parts. Furthermore, I confront the results of my research with selected concepts related to the topic of an environmentally frugal life (voluntary and intentional modesty, ecological luxury etc.). Key words: Tramping, (alternative) lifestyle, leisure, everyday life, subcultural...

Nature as Myth
Charvát, Jakub ; Češka, Jakub (advisor) ; Skovajsa, Marek (referee)
What exactly do we mean by "nature"? What do people expect from "nature"? And how has our understanding of it changed? The M.A. thesis "Nature as Myth", using Barthe's two-tiered system of signs and myths as a methodological tool, attempts to answer these questions through an examination of various historical and literary sources. The thesis has a chronological structure, consisting of four parts: 19th century, 1918-1938, 1938-1989, and from 1989 until the present. It focuses on fiction, memoir, and the history of "back to nature" movements. It also deals with environmental and aesthetic issues. The last section touches on the representation of nature in advertisement. The thesis will demonstrate that in all four of the time periods the most common depiction of nature is as a place of escape - both literally and figuratively. key words: nature, hiking, tramping, scouting, woodcraft, recreation in the cabins and cottages, ecology
