Managerial Competencies in Small Enterprises

The dissertation thesis dealt with the managerial competencies in the small manufacturing enterprises in the Czech Republic. The research aimed to examine the current level of these competencies on the sample of top managers of those enterprises. The chosen topic is topic of current importance due the competency development for enhancing the managerial performance. The thesis elaboration was based on the detailed literature review of national and international publications in the respected scientific journals, and on the in-depth analyses conducted through the primary researches. The main objective of the dissertation thesis was to detect the competency level of top managers in the small manufacturing enterprises in the context of business management and to identify the key variables influencing the discovered competency level and on the basis of research findings provide recommendations for further competency development. The main objective was supported with four partial objectives and five research hypotheses. On the basis of results of executed pilot research on managerial competencies the model of managerial competencies was established, and further verified in the author’s primary research. Within the data analysis and data evaluation, the competency level was formed. The dependences of competencies on examined variables were tested empirically. Those variables were sex, length of current and total practice, age, ownership and education. The aggregated research results were compared with the literature review and based on this comparison, the recommendations for further managerial competency level improvement were provided. The conclusions and further research aims form the integral part of the dissertation thesis.

Social worker as an employee and member of a (multidisciplinary) team

This diploma thesis deals with a social worker as an employee and a member of a multidisciplinary team in the field of prison system. The aim of the thesis was to find out the view on the social worker from the perspective of top management of the Czech prison service. The theoretical part is divided into three major chapters that interconnect with each other. The first chapter deals with the basic definition of social work and a multidisciplinary team, but also delves into the specific area of social work with the crime perpetrators. The second chapter deals with general management, management of social work and top management, which plays a major role in the research investigation. The third chapter focuses on the area of prison system, its brief history, structure, and for the purposes of adding some interesting information to the thesis, also touches upon the life behind prison bars. The empirical part used qualitative research, specifically semi-structured interview, to fulfill the research goal. The interviews were conducted with top management of the Czech prison service. The diploma thesis addresses the issue of developing the methodology for cybersecurity training of middle and top management. The goal is to propose a methodology for the needs of energy company, wich will be focused on education of the target group of employees that represents a high-risk. The introductory part is focused on theroretical basis such as basic terminology, current legislation and security awareness education. The analysis is focused on the current state of the cyber and infromation security education program in the energy company. The actual solution contains the proposal of the methodology itself and its specific solution with regard to the current state and needs of the organization.

From a myriad of professions in which people are under intense mental load, this thesis examines the group of top managers, particularly in companies involved in the sale of information technologies. The objective of this thesis is primarily to capture the methods and strategies for coping with stress in this target group. From a methodological perspective, the semi-structured interview and standardized questionnaire research methods were used to identify strategies for coping with stress. The conducted research confirmed with certain degree of probability that intense mental load is an integral part of the performance of the top manager profession. Its impact is assessed as more stressful in comparison with lower job titles, particularly from the perspective of a wider range of active forms of mental load. Assessment of Gender Balanced Policies across Companies

The thesis aims to analyze the representation of women in the top management within companies in the Czech Republic and companies' approach towards gender diversity. Theoretical background is provided as an introduction to the topic. Terms leadership and leadership styles are defined. The thesis follows with gender leadership specifics and typical characteristics for the Czech Republic. The research part is based on the interviews with HR representatives conducted in five chosen companies. Typical managerial trajectory and gender diversity management are the key areas of the interviewed questions. The results picture a typical managerial trajectory with the emphasis on women. The thesis presents the companies' approach to the gender management and introduces activities which companies do in order to increase the number of women in their decision-making positions. Author's recommendations to the companies is included.

Diploma thesis deals with the assessment of performance appraisal of non-medical healthcare employees in Oblastní nemocnice Jičín a.s. . The thesis contents theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part anchors the performance appraisal system into the human resource management, with focus on the role of line managers. It also deals with the definition of job performance, circumstances that influence, and capabilities of its monitoring. Another part of the thesis emphasizes on the implementation of employee appraisal into practice, in which top management of the organization plays an important role. At the end of the theoretical part, I try to highlight the importance of linking of employee assessment with the vision, goals and values of the organization. The theoretical part offers the solution of the imperfections identified in the applied research. The practical part brings point of view on the reasons and way of implementation of employee appraisal in the organization, its adaptation by the employees and effectiveness of its use by the line managers.
