The Grammar School in Litomyšl in the Context of the Political Changes of the 20th Century The dissertation discusse about grammar school in Litomyšl in the background of social changes in 20th century. It shows circumstances of origin of grammar school in Litomyšl and it describes its development and difficulties during an evolution. It focuses on staff, students, teaching subjects, foundation and student's activities. There are numbers of students in taught religion, catechists in individual school events and books used in lessons. It also shows other studies of absolvents. It says about difficulties of both war conflicts. Furthermore, it describes the events after 1948, which peaks by the process in Litomyšl with the students of grammar school and the rector František Ambrož Stříteský. There is a mention of the anniversary celebrations of grammar school as well. Title: 'I'm not a looser that lives only in this pub.' Bar ethnography Keywords: bar, alcohol, meaning, guests, norms, students, ambivalence. Abstract: Goals: to understand the meaning of bar visits and activities that take place in bars. Method: Qualitative research using the methods of participatory observations and semi- structured interviews. Conclusions: A bar is common place in which people choose to spend their free time. It is thought of as a place full of fun, consumption, and social interaction. It forms an important part of free time activities. Alternative free time activities are commonly connected to boredom and loneliness especially by individuals without stable social circles outside of bars. Evenings in bars tend to be stereotypical, especially for frequent visitors. The stereotypical environment is a source of much ambivalence. It carries many positive effects (such as stability, certainty, security, anticipation, and known environment) but can be also perceived negatively (boredom, stagnation). A bar is in the Czech cultural context regarded as an ordinary part of life of people maturing to adulthood. Feelings of inappropriateness can arise in case of a long transition to adulthood. Foreign Students of Czech Language in the Czech republic (A contribution to the problematics of Migration and Students-Migrants in the Czech Context)

in English The dissertation thesis deals with foreign students in the Czech republic, specifically immigrant students coming from all over the world - from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine and then from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The basic objective of this work is not a real attempt to display the everyday reality of certain groups of migrant-students of Czech language in the Czech Republic in such a way that it only focuses on the problems and barriers they encounter in their studies in the Czech language. It also deals with their adaptation and integration into mainstream Czech society. At the same time, however, we realize that this work is only a partial contribution to the knowledge of migrant-students' life in the Czech environment between 1998 and 2011. This work is based on relevant literature and the research is based on interviews with students and teaching observations. The choice of qualitative methods was intentional to serve our matter the best, since there has been a lack of research in this particular area in recent times. This focus on qualitative techniques is also dependent on the characteristics of the sample group, especially in the linguistic and sociocultural realm. Life situation of university students in terms of adulthood

Diplomová práce: Životní situace vysokoškolských studentů z hlediska dospělosti (Life situation of university students in terms of adulthood) Zpracovala: Barbora Musilová Abstract Diploma thesis " Life situation of university students in terms of adulthood" aims to show how young people currently studying university perceive their life situation and how much they feel to be adults. The thesis seeks the answers in qualitative analysis of students of Prague universities. Theoretical background of empirical part is formed by theories of present time analysts which highlight the variability and instability of social conditions. The result of this instability is that there are shifts of the timing of life events in the life cycles and challenging the traditional definition of adulthood as defined for example, independent living and marriage. Trends in the life of young students, such as prolonged studies or leaving home parents in late time point to a new stage, which haven't been in the life paths of previous generations. Living situation of young university students is not only extending the transition to adulthood, but the independent stage, which also raises the need to redefine the earlier definition of valid adulthood.

Occurrence and prevalence of sexual harassment on Czech high schools

The aim of my thesis is to discover how prevalent the sexual harassment by teachers at Czech secondary schools is and how students perceive such described problematic behaviour. In the theoretical section, I describe the history of origin of the term sexual harassment abroad as well as in the Czech Republic. Further, I present its definitions and Czech legislation of this phenomenon. Consequently, the readers will learn about theories of sexual harassment in the academic setting and about findings of some foreign and Czech researches recently held on this topic. Finally, the last chapter of the theoretical part is devoted to specific setting of secondary schools with emphasis on the main functions of educational institutions. I also point out consequences of adolescent students' sexual harassment. The empirical part then describes a chosen method - quantitative survey research - and its practical use. After that, the findings are presented and analyzed. Besides the overall occurrence of sexual harassment at Czech secondary schools I also focus on the comparison of this phenomenon perception between boys and girls and also among different types of Czech secondary schools.

Czech libraries on the social network service Facebook

The goal of this thesis is to find out how the Czech libraries present themselves on the social network - Facebook. It consists of five sections and conclusion. The first section describes a current status of the internet and the social networks, possibilities of communication and feedback in these environments and defines the "new generation" of the libraries' users. The second section describes Facebook's social network in greater detail. The third part describes integration of the Czech libraries into this environment. The fourth section consists of analysis and practical piece: the survey and its conclusions. The thesis concludes with an evaluation of gathered information on presentation of the Czech libraries on the Facebook social network and survey carried out on the group of the Czech Libraries Web Administrators on this network.

Information and library services for students of art schools with a focus on dramatic and musical art in the Czech Republic

Diploma thesis " Information and library services for students of art schools with a focus on dramatic and musical art in the Czech Republic " aims to analyze the environment of libraries with a fund focused on music and theater, which serves students of art schools. This thesis also describes library and information services and the impact of copyright law to provide services in libraries with a fund containing score, audio and audiovisual media. The last section describes methodology of qualitative research and evaluates research by force field analyzing method and also analyzed findings and recommendations to address the identified facts.

Media and Education (based on the material of the selected domestic and foreign surveys of the media educational contents)

This dissertation deals with the problematics of the research of the educative media content, using mainly the data we gathered during surveys carried out between 2003 and 2011. The paper handles several theoretical and methodological aspects of the relationship between media and education, namely the role of educative media in education as such. In the theoretical part we focus mainly on the interdisciplinarity of the subject, i.e. the differences in the media studies and other social sciences perspectives. After a description of the necessary theoretical/methodological framework, an outline of a classification system of educative programmes is proposed that could be useful both in pedagogical and media practise. In the next part of the paper we discuss the current state of the czech public service media education area. The second chapter itself consists of selected researches results carried out in the area of education programmes and contents, some of which the author of this paper collaborated on. The survey choice consisted of questionnaire and enquiry surveys focusing on the relationship of structured media audiences (students and teachers) towards educative programmes. Title: Analysis of high school students' interests in physical education Objectives: Purpose of my bachelor thesis is to establish degree of high school students' interest in physical education specially in including gymnastics in its program. Used methods: In my bachelor thesis I will use questioning method and statistical evaluation of the questionnaire. Results: Outcomes of the thesis are tables and graphs, which mirror frequency of the same answers to individual questions in the questionnaire, and summary of the results with regard to the topic of the thesis.
