The Fourier Series and Its Properties
Sladká, Pavla ; Žák, Libor (referee) ; Štarha, Pavel (advisor)
The functional series, and especially the Fourier series, are an important mathematical apparatus exploited in the various technical branches. A very essential group of the functional series are the power series, which are applied because of their simplicity for solving of the many problems. An expansion of the function to the power series, i. e. the Taylor expansion, whose sum is the expanded function. These expansions are suitable for evaluation of operations, such as calculation of functional values, limits, derivatives and integrals. Calculations of these expansions are easier than of the functions theirself. The Fourier series are used for studies of events with periodic character. An advantage of the Fourier series is the fact, that the requirements for convergency are weaker than in case of the Taylor expansions. Likewise, calculation of the coefficients can be more simple than in the Taylor expansions. Expansions of functions to the Fourier series are used especially for solving ordinary and partial differential equations. This method of solving is known as the Fourier method or the Fourier method of variable separation.
The impact of modern technology development on society on the example of the Black Mirror series
Stiffelová, Andrea ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The master's thesis "The influence of the development of modern technologies on society using the example of the Black Mirror series" analyzes 5 series of the Black Mirror series using thematic content analysis. The work identifies the socio-technological risks thematized in the series and analyzes the relationships between technology and society, or the effects of modern technology on society.
Hybrid propulsion aircraft
Křivánek, Michal ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Zikmund, Pavel (advisor)
The growing efforts to reduce emissions in aviation may benefit from the use of hybrid propulsion, which is the topic of this bachelor’s thesis. The first section presents an overview of the impact of aviation on the environment as well as further motivation for the use and development of hybrid propulsion systems, due to low battery energy density, currently inadequate for purely electric aircraft use, and both complications and advantages offered by hydrogen used as fuel or in the form of fuel cells. Furthermore, it suggests a possible use of hybrid propulsion in inhabited areas and in both civil and military aviation. An overview of the most commonly used hybrid propulsion configurations follows noting the advantages and disadvantages of each of them. The next section presents an overview of several propeller-driven aircraft projects utilizing hybrid propulsion systems consisting of vertical, extremely short and standard take-off and landing vehicles, followed by a list of selected full-scale propeller-driven demonstrators utilizing hybrid propulsion systems. The final section evaluates the performance of several demonstrators in comparison to their combustion engine counterparts. The most significant advantages of hybrid propulsion aircraft are an increase in range, a substantial decrease in fuel consumption and a decrease in operation cost. However, hybrid propulsion systems also present their disadvantages too, most importantly an increase in vehicle mass and a decrease in number of passengers or amount of cargo. Lastly, the future of hybrid propulsion in aviation is outlined, considering multiple possible scenarios of development.
To Be Continued: Fictional Worlds of TV Series
MAREŠOVÁ, Jana
This thesis entitled "To Be Continued: Fictional Worlds of TV Series" is focused on television series from the perspective of narratology and the theory of fictional worlds. The thesis deals with the concept of the series and its components, with which its creators work. An important part of the thesis is the concept of the fictional world and its construction. The connection of individual episodes of the series differs. It depends on the type of seriality that is used for the series. The text works with many television series of the past and present, with which the individual types of seriality are defined. Like any narrative, the serial consists of individual narrative components, such as a story, individual events, a narrator or characters. What is the difference in series as opposed to the film is shown in examples of various specific fiction series. TV series work with the story to continue in various forms. The thesis deals with series of various genres, lengths and origins. We will also read how the events of the series can be influenced by the viewer himself. This thesis also reflects the changes in seriality today's online world. It mentions the various advantages and disadvantages that we may encounter in today's Internet.
Classic - podcast series about czechoslovak products
Sýkorová, Sandra ; Lovaš, Karol (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
Through a podcast series of three recordings, this bachelor's thesis deals with products that originated in Czechoslovakia between 1945 and 1989 and are still being produced or reproduced today. These are products that are generally known and mostly popular among the inhabitants of the Czech Republic, so even today they have a fixed place in the society and they are not just historical objects that could fall into oblivion. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the phenomenon of podcasting, especially its history, along with its significance in today's world, and outlines certain differences between podcasts and radio broadcasting. Furthermore, this section presents in detail the procedures and methods used in creating the entire podcast series, along with its detailed presentation. The practical part is the series itself called Classic with three approximately ten-minute podcast works that describe individual Czechoslovak products. Specifically, these are Prim watches, Prestige shoes and chests of drawers by designer Jiří Jiroutek. The parts include information about the history and present of the products, as well as various interviews with people who are interested in the given things, produce them, collect them or have any relevant relationship to them. There is also musical...
The relationship between a computer game and its audiovisual pattern
Šírová, Tereza ; Šlerka, Josef (advisor) ; Šisler, Vít (referee)
Diploma thesis The Relationship between the Computer Game and its Audiovisual Pattern deals with the similarities and differences between the computer games and audiovisual works. The thesis presents some theories reflecting different points of view to the influence and blending of these media forms. Those theories are the base for a suggestion of typology of games and movies adaptations that were made according to a pattern. In each of three suggested categories, there are mentioned some particular examples of computer games that were inspired by movie or series and also examples of movies that were inspired by computer game. The final chapter is a case study which compares the computer game Lost: Via Domus to its audiovisual pattern - series Lost.
Use of "Friends" series in teaching English on B2 level
Kohútová, Lenka ; Žďárek, Karel (advisor) ; Dvořák, Bohuslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the possibilities of using television series `Friends' in teaching English on B2 level to further linguistic and communicative competences of the students. The purpose of this thesis was to find out, whether a systematic use of the series, as a motivation to the students, for sparking a discussion or conversation among them or as means of immersion in the language and acquisition of the language, would be possible in a high school English teaching environment for a prolonged period of time. The thesis also debates the advantages and disadvantages of using series, compared to the advantages and disadvantages of using different multimedia. The thesis contains a list of activities that have been used during the testing of the series and several ideas on their modification.
