Saint Zdislava of Lemberk and Saint Elizabeth of Hungary

The work presents the life of both saints Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia, and also the external context, which largely affected their lives. Saints are described here in their wide range, both through our history and the history of European nations. The structure's work corresponds to a defined plan. The first chapter deals with the contemporary background and major events that occurred just before their birth and their lives. The following two chapters depict Zdislava own and Elizabeth's life, their work. The next chapter describes the work of saints in the social field. The fifth chapter is devoted to a comparison of the two saints with Saint Agnes. The last chapter contains evaluation figures Zdislava and Elizabeth of Thuringia and their significance for today. The concept of the work is based on the conviction that the stereotypes describing the lives of the saints can be overcame. The author seeks a new perspective on the work and life of both saints - Zdislava and Elisabeth. The Cults of Hungarian saints of the 11th century

Peter BUČKO, The Cults of Hungarian saints of the 11th century. Praha 2021. Doctoral dissertation. Abstract The presented dissertation deals with the cult of the oldest saints of the Kingdom of Hungary. These are persons who were canonized in 1083 - King Stephen, his son Emeric, Bishop Gerard and in 1083, also Zobor monks and hermits Zoerard-Andrew and Benedict, and in 1192 King Ladislas joined them. The work also examines saints without a documented official hagiography, namely the Great Moravian ruler Svatopluk, the bishop of Pécs Maurus and the Hungarian king Solomon. A wide source base was used to analyse cults and individual hagiographies. Emphasis was also placed on preserved material monuments, patronage, and feasts.
Christianity in Primary Education

This diploma thesis Christianity in Primary Education is focused on Christianity (namely holidays and saints, Bible stories and basics of Christianity) in primary teaching. The area of Christianity in Czech public education is analysed on the basis of informations which are contained in curricular documents and textbooks. The results are compare with some other European states. The semi-structured interviews allowed to examine more in detail the influence of teachers and their attitudes in connection with teaching about Christianity. The response to these interviews is the activity file which is possible to use as a teaching tool.
The holy queen Elisabeth? The metamorphose and idealisation of a Bohemian queen's image

The thesis is devoted to Eliška Přemyslovna, the Czech Queen, and deals with the topic from several points of view. Besides her historical image created on the basis of historical, mainly narrative sources, aim is to capture also the transformation of the image in the example of godly woman and female saint, especially in the context of today's pursuit of her beatification. In this context, the historical origins of idealization of Queen Eliška which accompanied the beatification process already in the High Middle Ages will also be looked for. Another goal is to probe into the cause of canonization of medieval noble ladies and monarchs and recently canonized saints Czech and Moravian and to follow transformations of this process from the Middle Ages to the present. The attention will also be paid to motivation of current effort for beatification of Eliška.
Josef Schiffner as the author of legends in the begining of 19th century

AJ The aim of this thesis is to introduce and put in to context literary work of Josef Schiffner. In this thesis I made a comparison of legends from Bohuslav Balbín, which is considered as Schiffner's exemplar, legends from Josef Schiffner and legends from Michael Sintzel, whom legends were published in the Czech lands in 1844. In this thesis, I am also trying to recognize influence of the enlightenment on legends.
Christian Christmas and its Practice in Prague

In this magister study ,,Christian Christmas and its Practice in Prague" I write about Christmas in Prague. I write about a Christmas traditions, weather sayings and about the ways of celebration Chistmas in Prague. This diploma has two parts. The first part is a theoretical part and the second part is a practical part. In the theoretical part I write about Christian traditions, traditions and weather sayings. For example I write about saint Barbora, Mikulas, Lucy and Stephan. In this magister study I also write about Christmas Eve. This day has a lot of traditons, for example people cut an apple or throw the boot. They also sing Christmas carols and watch the fairy tales in the Czech television. The Czech Christmas has a lot of symbols, for example the Christmas carols, Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, a carp, Christmas candles and Christmas concerts of popular and Christmas music. The new tradition is watching the fairy tales in the televiion or shopping a lot of Christmas gifts. In the practical part of my study I write about a Christmas celebration in Prague in the 21st century. I know that the most important is the Christmas Eve with a Christmas dinner, the Christmas tree, the Christmas traditions and the Christmas gifts. The Saint and Blessed Polish Martyrs In the course of centuries

The Saint and Hallow Polish Martyrs In The Course of Centuries The objective of thesis "The Saint and Hallow Polish Martyrs In The Course of Centuries" is the introduction of selected Polish martyrs from the middle ages until the end of the 20th century. The thesis follow their cult development from its origin until present, including related demonstration of art, in particular the development of iconography. They also follow the influence of life example and the subsequent cult of the martyrs on the society at that time, as well as the spiritual and national awareness of the following generations. In this connection, they also give attention to particularities of the Polish national history, the constitutional arrangement, the artistic and culture relationships and environment and the history of the Catholic Church in Poland. Each chapter, which is introducing a Saint or a group of martyrs, is divided into three parts - the epoch, the life, the cult and iconography. The objective of this division is the schema of historical conditions in which the personality of the Saint was formed. These historical conditions were also determine for the martyrdom. Latin Hagiography of Early Middle-Ages as a Source for Christianisation of the Central Europe

of the paper The goal of the submitted work is to compare extensively the first hagiographical concerning the process of Christianization in the Central Europe. By paralleling these texts across the national rounds and comparing their image with the current state of the historical research the author tries to understand the role of legend in the Christianization and in particular their possible use as a source for this period. The hagiographical image of paganism, the baptism of the state units, of the ruler and the usual way of the institutional spread of the faith with regard to the image of the lower social classes in the process are all examined in the thesis. Further, attention is paid to the coherence of the Central-European area observable in the typology and the content of examined hagiography.
