All my beginning identities
Staňková, Barbora ; Novotná, Magdalena (advisor) ; Francová, Sylva (referee)
1 ABSTRACT In which situations have I found myself as an aspiring and later as a beginning teacher? How do I experience my affiliation with this profession today? What roles shape me as an educator? How do they influence my views on education? How do they impact my professional identity? The beginning of a professional career is a transitory and transformative period, crucial for further development, and builds upon various past experiences that date back to childhood. The theoretical part of this study navigates between social science, pedagogical, and artistic discourse. It draws on contemporary art that offers an approach to questions of identity and subjectivity, exemplified by works from authors such as Margit Titlová, Rineke Dijkstra, Marlene Dumas, Cindy Sherman, among others. The research section maps, through the analysis of autobiographical records, various situations and roles I encountered at the beginning of my career, as well as during the period leading up to this career. The autobiographical research oscillates between an artistic approach and an approach based on qualitative research, emphasizing the tension between the internal and external dimensions of identity. The artographic project outlines selected aspects of my personal identity through the use of photographic medium. Shadows...
Classroom climate at a primary school
Lexová, Dagmar ; Hejlová, Helena (advisor) ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with the class atmosphere in the 4th year of primary school. The topic is the transformation of a negative class atmosphere into a positive one. The aim was to find methods and forms of working with the class to improve the atmosphere in the class. In the theoretical part of the thesis we deal with the topics of a school class, the atmosphere in the school and in the class, indiscipline in the class, and the teacher's care for the atmosphere in the class, which is related to the addressed problem in the class. The practical part of the thesis is action teaching research. The aim of the action teaching research was to assess the specifics of the 4th year in terms of nurturing the classroom atmosphere, particularly when a negative class atmosphere arises. Through active teaching research, which included observations by the teacher, consultations with experts, and diagnostics of the class using a questionnaire titled "Our Class", the problem in the specific class was resolved and the objective of the thesis was fulfilled. Specific methods leading to an improvement of the situation in the class are described in the practical part. I believe that these methods are generally applicable and can be used in practice by other teachers, and not only those who are starting their career.
The Roles of Foreign Fighters in Insurgencies: A Typology
Klein, Gabriel ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Laryš, Martin (referee)
The master's thesis deals with the phenomenon of foreign fighters primarily represented by contemporary jihadists. The author explores the insufficiently researched issue of participation of jihadist foreign fighters in insurgencies regarding their roles and activities in conflict zones. First, the author reviews the available academic literature on the concept of foreign fighters focusing on key definitions. Subsequently, the academic literature on seven most significant jihadist foreign-fighter mobilisations, Afghanistan (1980-1992), Bosnia (1992-1995), Somalia (1993-present), Chechnya (1994-2009), Afghanistan (2001-present), Iraq (2003-present), and Syria (2011-present), is analysed to identify patterns of similarity and difference in the jihadist foreign fighters' roles and activities. The author then introduces five distinct types of jihadist foreign fighters: 1) military and ideological leaders, field commanders; 2) foot soldiers; 3) suicide attackers; 4) support personnel; and 5) jihadist brides/wives. Each type is characterised based on the empirical evidence from the seven abovementioned cases of jihadist foreign-fighter mobilisations. Multi-Agent systems and organizations
Kúdela, Lukáš ; Štěpánek, Petr (advisor) ; Neruda, Roman (referee)
Multi-agent systems (MAS) are emerging as a promising paradigm for conceptualizing, designing and implementing large-scale heterogeneous software systems. The key advantage of looking at components in such systems as autonomous agents is that as agents they are capable of flexible self-organization, instead of being rigidly organized by the system's architect. However, self-organization is like evolution-it takes a lot of time and the results are not guaranteed. More often than not, the system's architect has an idea about how the agents should organize themselves-what types of organizations they should form. In our work, we tried to solve the problem of modelling organizations and their roles in a MAS, independent of the particular agent platform on which the MAS will eventually run. First and foremost, we have proposed a metamodel for expressing platform-independent organization models. Furthermore, we have implemented the proposed metamodel for the Jade agent platform as a module extending this framework. Finally, we have demonstrated the use of our module by modelling three specific organizations: remote function invocation, arithmetic expression evaluation and sealed-bid auction. Our work shows how to separate the behaviour acquired through a role from the behaviour intrinsic to an agent. This...
