Dubcová, Martina ; Šotolová, Eva (advisor) ; Mlčková, Marie (referee)
1 Summary Children come into the establishment for institutional education from families that did not fulfill their function or did not meet the basic needs of the child. The parents of these children often perpetrated criminal acts, were under the influence of alcohol, neglected the children or in some cases even mistreated or abused them. The family was for these children often a negative image. The children spent part of their lives in a non-stimulating environment. These families influenced the personality of the child in a extremely negative way. Children from children's homes show handicaps already at a biological level. These children tend to have lower body measurements values, they suffer from different health handicaps, psychiatric disorders, their mental capacities are under average, they have attention disorders, heightened affectivity, heightened aggressiveness, etc. Children come into children's homes from dysfunctional families usually in their later school days, consequently, the family has had great influence during their early childhood and in some cases also during school age or adolescence. Some children visit their families even after they have been placed in children's homes, and are therefore still influenced by their parents. All these factors, among others, influence their...

Eštoková, Denisa ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Ditrych, Ondřej (referee)
Examining any topic in the Middle East requires a general knowledge because of the region's complexity and dynamics. Important characteristics is the link of Islam and politics, because this relation shaped political establishment of states. The strategic location and rich natural resources of this part of the world were tempting also for the global superpowers whose engagement divided the Middle Eastern states, particularly during the Cold War. An analysis of the factors and events that led to the formation of alliances and rivalries in the Middle East is the goal of this work. Research will focus on alliances of Iran and its Shia allies on the one hand and Saudi Arabia with the rest of Sunni monarchies on the other. Unlike other alliances mentioned in the work, these two blocks have long term character. They are also specific because of sectarian differences, their stance towards the United States and Israel and shared responses to emerging threats. The modern period moves from invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq to...
Students free time activities at school hostel
Pichová, Markéta ; Vágnerová, Marie (advisor) ; Janošová, Pavlína (referee)
1 Abstract In my diploma thesis, I cover primarily the interests of students accommodated at school hostels. Not only interests in the accommodation facility are examined, but also in free time outside the school hostel. The research was carried out by a questionnaire survey and also by an interview with pupils. The aim of the work is to find out what interests are preferred by students at school hostels and outside it. Furthermore, there is the question of whether students agree with the schedule and responsibilities and whether students prefer individual spending time together over common. The work also addresses how the interests of pupils differ according to age and how the popularity of activities contrasts between men and women. The theoretical part deals with the definition of basic concepts (for example, adolescence, school hostel, interests, leisure). The practical part describes the outcomes of the research survey. These are shown in graphs and tables.

Development cooperation as a foreign policy instrument: EU vs. China in Africa
Kreidl, Dominik ; Knutelská, Viera (advisor) ; Plechanovová, Běla (referee)
The main topic of this thesis is the use of development cooperation as an instrument of foreign policy of the People's Republic of China (China) and the European Union (EU) in Africa. The aim of this diploma thesis was to find out whether the development cooperation policy of China, respectively the EU with African countries, is motivated rather by pragmatic or normative interests. In order to answer this research question, a qualitative content analysis was applied, in which the documents of these two actors were examined. The main theoretical concept of this diploma thesis is the concept of normative power, which served as an indicator of normative interests. In the case of the EU, the hypothesis that the EU would primarily act as a normative power in development cooperation, i.e. that it would be interested in disseminating its norms in the international system, has not been confirmed. The results of the content analysis reveal that pragmatic interests prevail in the development cooperation between the EU and African countries. In the case of China's involvement in development cooperation, the results of the analysis reveal that the main motivations within this policy are mainly normative interests, i.e. the interests of disseminating its norms in the international politics.
