Media as a topic of history classes

Mediální výchova jako téma hodin dějepisu - Abstract Bc. Martina Leciánová This work deals with the topic of media education as a topic in history classes. Its aim was to find out whether the Framework Education Program (FEP) deals with this issue and, on the basis of it, to find out to what extent it appears in the literature itself. The work consisted of a quantitative analysis of the mentioned documents falling under the Ministry of Education and Culture and history textbooks for the 9th grade. Part of the output was also the proposal of a methodological tool for facilitating the teaching of media education in the history class, which was created on the basis of interviews with history teachers. The results show that the RVP does not officially recognize this possibility of teaching, but media education as such appears in textbooks in limited quantities, and even the interviewed teachers stated that they perceive media education as part of history education. The proposed methodical tool is a database that would contain sources and resources that can be used in class to save time for teachers in preparation. The database could work through the mutual cooperation of individual teachers. So-called "from them for them".

Program EATS as an alternative in teaching English language at primary school

This thesis is about an inovative program in teaching English language called EATS. The goal was to find out the effectivness of this program on the basis of repeated observations, didactic testing and interview. In the theoretical part the position of English language in the curricular documents is discussed. Then there is the description of the communicative approach to the language learning which is very useful in nowadays globalised society.The important role of the native speaker is emphasized because he brings the authentic element into the education process and gives pupils good language model. Also the early education in foreign languages is part of this work. Integrated language learning is described on the ilustration of CLIL and its alternative which could be called "language preparation". The aim was to show an example of a good practice which could inspire someone.

Cooperation between kindergarten and elementary school within one institution

The diploma thesis focuses on cooperation of composite primary schools and pre-school centres. The theoretical part refers to strategic documents in the field of education - White Paper, Strategy for Education Policy of the Czech Republic untill 2020, Common European Framework of Reference. It explains the basis of creating school educational programmes. It also outlines the legislative strategy of composite primary school and kindergardens and the cooperation in the field of education in general and in the field of community-based education. The main aim of this thesis was to gain the insight into the cooperation and communication within the group of pedagogical staff in primary schools and pre-school centres, insight into given school educational programme,s and moreover to search the elements which denotes the close interconnection. These tendencies of cooperation are then the basis for forming and innovating the above mentioned programmes. The next aim was to discover the cooperation between schools and municipal authorities. Healthy nutrition teaching at primary schools

The work aims to map the curriculum of nutrition and its anchoring in educational programs and through a questionnaire survey to find out whether the content of the curriculum is sufficiently developed for primary school teachers, i.e. whether it is effective in their practice. The theoretical part summarizes the information concerning the nutrition of children of younger school age, focusing mainly on the principles of proper nutrition, building healthy eating habits, which significantly contribute to their future health and may have a preventive character from development of diseases. One of the many possible ways of prevention is teaching nutrition in primary schools with the help of appropriate teaching methods, activities, and the use of nutritional lecture programs, which this work mentions. The practical part contains a questionnaire survey, in which it examines the relationship of teachers to the teaching of nutrition, focusing mainly on their views on the anchoring of the curriculum in educational programs. The resulting data are recorded in tables and graphs, which are accompanied by a commentary. Developing scientific literacy in pre-primary education through environmental themes

1 Abstract Thesis Woods as an educational space? examines using quantitative methods the differences between children in ordinary kindergartens and forest kindergartens, and it does so according to formation of individual components of scientific literacy or knowledge of selected terms (concepts) in its empirical part. For this purpose it creates evaluation model of scientific literacy of preschool children (didactic test) based on the example of processing a particular topic - Forest. The topic is set into the concept of pedagogy, developmental psychology, and social ecology. The theoretical part discusses the issue of scientific literacy, especially in the context of preprimary age. From the perspective of developmental psychology are furthemore described cognitive developmental characteristics of preschool age in their basic level. This part also focuses on strategic documents of (permanent) sustainable development. The thesis gives a first interesting insight into the problem and reveals a serious facts such as that children from ordinary kindergartens confuse natural objects under artificial objects also are less oriented in inanimate components, than the children of the forest kindergartens. Role of school libraries in development of media literacy in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis examines the possibilities of involving school librarians and information specialists in the process of growth in media literacy at Czech schools. The theoretical part of the thesis briefly introduces the general issues of media education and media literacy in our country and abroad, while the practical part of the thesis based on its own research, focuses on a particular target group - Prague secondary schools ("gymnázium"). Using a questionnaire and five case studies conducted at selected secondary schools in Prague, it conducts a survey of the current situation of implementation of media education in the Czech Republic. The end of the thesis deals with some ideas of how to involve graduates of the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship in teaching media education according to the American model of a "teacher librarian".
