Analysis of Communication Activities of International Festival Prague Proms in the Year 2011

2 Abstract The bachelor thesis "Analysis of Communication Activities of International Music Festival Prague Proms in the Year 2011" deals with marketing communication of International Music Festival Prague Proms, which was specifically used in the year 2011. The thesis decribes the festival from the perspective of its organisational structure and characteristic of main activities. On these basics analyses the work, by using a descriptive method, means of communication used in the year stated. It strives to illustrate if, and how much the cultural organisation keeps on techniques and strategies of marketing communiaction in connection with specific principles of art marketing. Particular communication techniques are compared and analyzed on their appropriateness for cultural organisation. Currently, when an interest in classical music declines, such cultural organisation as this have to fight for its customers and using of well-chosen marketing techniques is essential. The work deals with all aspects of the organisation that affect activities of communication mix used. Marketing Communication of The Brno House of Arts in 2007-2011

This bachelor thesis aims to analyze the marketing communication of the Brno House of Arts from 2007 to 2011. The Brno House of Arts is one of the most important cultural institutions in Moravian region but the number of visitors decreases from year to year. The hypothesis is that underdeveloped communication strategy of the institution contributes to this unfavourable situation. One chapter is dedicated to the analysis of communication strategies of the closest gallery's competitors - Moravian Gallery and Wannieck Gallery. The core of the work is in the detailed description of the institution's communication mix with focus on its visual identity created in 2008. Evaluation of the gallery's marketing activities is based on adequate academic writing. Wide variety of relating pictures can be found in the appendix. Research conducted by the author explores knowledge and image of the Brno House of Arts in the public. The thesis is concluded with the summary of the communication activities of the institution and strives to answer whether they support its mission and vision positioning the gallery among prestigious European galleries.

Work Contemporary Art as a Tool of Art Marketing of the City of Prague aims to show culture not only as something saint and untouchable, but also as a very important part of a state economy, mainly in the framework of tourism. It deals with the relationship of culture and marketing, with the meaning of culture itself and with its role in the area of tourism. It looks into culture as the tool of the communication of Prague and looks critically at the contemporary situation of its presentation for tourists. There's no doubt that the presentation of Prague only through historical city centre is no longer enough in the competition of other cultural destinations and that Prague should think about changing and developing new strategy of communication. As the very tool of this change could work contemporary arts, which is used by many other cultural destinations around the world (Berlin, London, NYC), which Prague can also offer and which shows openess and a better place for life. At times, when even state-financed museums and galleries are forced to manage the entrusted financial resources responsibly, create their own profits and raise funds for their operations from other than public sources, marketing communications become an important tool for reaching out to visitors as well as potential sponsors and other supporters. It is understandable that in private organizations, which gain only a relatively small percentage of their total budget from the state grants, are the marketing activities even more important. The bachelor thesis "Marketing Communications Analysis of DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in 2009 and 2010" characterizes the DOX centre, one of the biggest czech private galleries, describes its activities, analyzes the competition, target groups, and especially its communication tools. The bachelor thesis on "The Metropolitan Opera: Live in HD in the Prague Cinema Aero. Description and Evaluation of the Success of Marketing Activities during the First Two Seasons." deals with the launch of a new product in Aero art-house cinema in Prague. The Met: Live in HD - series of live transmission of opera production from The Metropolitan Opera in New York - was launched in Aero as first world-wide successful alternative content. Success of the project is closely associated with the digitalization of cinemas in the Czech Republic and abroad as well. Principles of art marketing, by which we mean all marketing activities in the field of art and culture, creation and realization's background of the Met: Live in HD and profile of Aero Cinema and Aerofilms Film Distribution Company are introduced for better understanding of the topic. The operating methods was the study of the foreign and Czech literature, the contentual analysis of documents, the media monitoring, the qualitative observation and the description of product's marketing activities correlated with the visit rate of the transmissions and publicity. The literature refers to the art marketing, the non-governmental organizations marketing, the film marketing and strategies for art cinema development.
Marketing Strategies of Art Trade with a Focus on Contemporary Czech Art Scene

Contemporary art trade in the Czech Republic has been regarded as a private area accessible only to a few insiders. So far no adequate literature about this field has existed, the marketing strategies used within it were, not only from the outside perspective, quite unclear. This work shows that it is not a secret sphere. On the contrary, it is a part of the market, which has the effect that the more you talk about it openly, the better impact it has on the whole society. The author presents the current situation in this field, its historical context, and openly discusses the long-term marketing strategies of gallerists who work with contemporary artists. On the basis of case studies from abroad she also shows other possible ways how to bring society closer to contemporary art by means of some specific marketing tools.
Marketing Communications in Today´s Practice of Art Museums in the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to describe thoroughly the way Czech museums of art are using the principles of marketing communications nowadays. Theoretical part of the thesis presents brief history of modern museums worldwide as well as in the Czech Republic (with special stress on the network of regional galleries being founded in the second half of the 20th century. It also presents bases of museum marketing and the elements of integrated marketing concept applied on galleries. Terms of branding and fundraising are mentioned as well. The research part of the thesis contains the results of questionnaire survey among 10 representatives of Czech regional galleries. Each of the included museums of art is introduced with emphasis on their ways of using marketing communications principles. Their visual identities are also described and media monitoring analysis is added to all of them. We can say that the principles of marketing communications are anchored among Czech galleries; however they struggle with the lack of finance needed to concentrate more on such activities.
Marketing of the music festival Dvořák’s Prague

This thesis focuses on marketing activities of the classical music festival Dvořák's Prague. Its goal is to analyze the advertising and other marketing activities of Dvořák's Prague in detail. On these bases recommendations on how to increase the knowledge of the festival will be proposed. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part the thesis focuses on theoretical points related to marketing ín general and to the arts, which are the subject of the festival. Then the concept of the market research is defined, its process and methods. In the second part, theoretical points are applied. After the introduction of the festival itself, the thesis continues with the analysis of particular marketing activities and with the marketing research, which was conducted to discover the public knowledge and awareness of the festival. In the final part the findings from the analyses of marketing activities and results of the marketing research will be used to propose possible improvements in marketing campaign to increase the public awareness of the festival.
The analysis of marketing specificity in art gallery

In the last 30 years in the world of art increased the need to implement the economic strategies for the administration of non-profit organizations. The aim of the thesis is to describe to the readers the application of the marketing tools in the field of gallery management. The thesis consists of three parts. The first part concerns the development of museology and the situation of culture in Czech Republic. In the second part the thesis deals with the development of art marketing and the way in which the world of art perceives the basic differences between product and customer. The third part is the analytical part. It analyzes the different ways in which specific applications of marketing tools are used in five selected Prague galleries. The goal of the thesis is also to illustrate the situation of galleries in Prague and the revision of some basic elements needed to improve their competitiveness in Europe.
