Bedřich Hrozný and the Oriental Institute in Prague with help of the National Masaryk Fund

The rigorous work Bed ich Hrozný and the Oriental Institute in Prague with help of the National Masaryk Fund is about life and work of the old-oriental philologist and historian, important personality of Czechoslovakian social and academic life. The work describes mostly the foundation of the Oriental Institute in Prague and the first decades of its existence. The Oriental Institute has existed de facto since 1920, and de iure since 1922. However, the question remains, how much the letter of law was fulfilled. As the constitutive meeting, concerning foundation of the Oriental institute took place on March 1st , 1928. It also deals with the related activities such as the National Masaryk Fund, from which the Oriental Institute was co-financed, or the archaeological research of Bed ich Hrozný in Syria - tell Sheykh Sa ad and Tell Erfad and in Turkey - tell Kültepe. All of the archaeological findings of Bed ich Hrozný, which he brought to Prague, were not preserved till nowadays. When the findings came to possession of the National Gallery in Prague (except the Cappadocian tablets), they were provisionally deposited in the castle in Benešov nad Plou nicí. Václav Clemens Žebrácký - Idea unionis musicae et poeticae (1617). Edition and analysis.

The main purpose of the thesis is a commented critical edition of treatise Idea unionis musicae et poeticae written by Václav Clemens Žebrácký. The treatise is a written version of the disputation presented on 8 March, 1617 in a great hall of Carolinum. The small print (9 ff.), preserved uniquely in the Castle library in K ivoklát (shelf-mark XLIV. f. 12, extra draft 33) has not been hitherto reflected in the scientific (musicological and non-musicological) literature. Apart from the critical edition of the Clement's treatise, the aim of the thesis is to pou it in the historical context and to point out its connection with the intellectual background outside of Prague. Accomodation of university students in Prague between years 1918 and 1939

The diploma thesis deals with practical issues of life of the university students in Prague du- ring the inter-war period. The main attention is on types of student's living and additionally on fi- nancial aspects, catering and social life. The thesis consists of three parts.Introductory chapter eluci- dates the structure of universities and students in the years 1918-1939. Furthermore there are also results of statistical research concerning forms of accommodation of students in the years 1913/14, 1920/21, 1930/31, 1939/40. The basic source of this statistical research are catalogues of students of the Charles University and the Czech Technical University in Prague. The second chapter describes forms of accommodation, their general attributes and system of dormitories in this period. The conclusion consists of presentations of particular dormitories in Prague. The thesis draws infor- mation from archival material of the National Archive and other archives. A source of useful infor- mation were also brochures and press for students from this period, memoirs and literature on histo- ry of universities.

History of the Theological Faculty in Prague: From its foundation until 1419

This diploma thesis focuses on the history of the faculty of theology in Prague from its foundation in 1347 until the outbreak of the Hussite revolution. This thesis first maps the assumptions of the establishment of general teaching in Prague and the founding act of Pope Clement VI. and Emperor Charles IV. Subsequently, the beginnings of teaching at the faculty of theology and its institutional development until 1419 are described. Special attention is paid to the issue of the papal establishment of the faculty, the organization of studies and the role of the Archbishop of Prague as the university chancellor. The internal difficulties of the faculty and the placement of the faculty of theology in the context of the history of Charles University are not neglected either. Methodologically, the work is based on a comparison of literature, and analysis of sources.

The Academic Cooperation between Charles University in Prague and University of Hamburg during the Period of the So-called Normalization

This master thesis deals with the development of the academic relations between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany during the so-called normalization, so from the beginning of the 1970s to the fall of the so-called Iron Curtain. The main focus lies on the inter-university partnership between Charles University in Prague and the University of Hamburg, which was concluded in Prague in 1980 and is successfully carried out till today. It was the first cooperation agreement Charles University made with a West German university during the period of the cold war. The thesis analyses, in which way both universities approached the partnership and how the cooperation could be put into practice. The main objective of the text is to find out which dynamics the partnership in the observed period gained and if the cooperation even managed to overcome the original expectations of the main actors considering the given conditions within the domestic and international politics. The examined cooperation is put into a broader context, not only of the development of the Czechoslovak-West German relations but also of the situation within international politics. People with disabilities entering university

This bachelor thesis focuses on people with disabilities entering university at a specific stage of the life cycle. This particular stage of the life cycle is called emerging adulthood and includes the age range from 18 to 25. These young adults are experiencing an important milestone in their lives. In this case, this life milestone is entering university. This group of people has to deal not only with their disability but also with the pressure associated with this life stage. This the pressure is mainly from their family and college, but also from the whole society. The main goal of this bachelor thesis was to find out the conditions of people with sensory and physical disabilities at Charles University when they are entering the university and during their subsequent studies at this university. I tried to map the stage of emerging adulthood in these people and reveal some common features. The other goal was to reveal the most common obstacles that these students may encounter on their journey to obtain a university degree. I also wanted to find out how help and support both from the state and from Charles University work for students with disabilities in this particular stage of the life cycle.
