Physical activity in facilities for the elderly as a means of self-care and independence
Morávková, Markéta ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Hráský, Pavel (referee)
Title: Physical activity in facilities for the elderly as a means of self-care and independence Objective: The main objective is to identify through research the possibilities of movement activities of seniors in institutions for the elderly, as a means to their autonomy, self-care and independence of the surrounding area. Senior age brings with it many challenges and constraints, whether physiological or psychological means. According to my research (Morávková 2013), these problems can actually affect by physical activity in both primary and secondary prevention. But the question remains whether seniors have the opportunity to perform physical activity. In my research, I focused on a situation where the senior placed in a facility for the elderly and is therefore totally dependent on the supply of equipment. Methods: The thesis is the first part researches topics of geriatrics and physical prevention of seniors. In the second part I follow research which I addressed to all traced facility for seniors in the Central Region, a total of 49 homes. There I poll examined whether there are controlled hours of physical activity, how they are targeted, whether this benefit seniors exploits and possibly what finances have to spend to participate those hours. Then I processed incoming data and interpreted...
Evolutionary aspects of Alzheimer's disease. Major role of the Apolipoprotein E
Škubica, Patrik ; Daňková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Jirák, Roman (referee)
Alzheimer's disease is one of the most discussed conditions, due to its huge social and economic consequences. Whereas molecular and genetic aspects causing early onset of the disease are relatively well known, it still remains to be clearly shown how genetic risks and environmental factors interact to ultimately cause the late onset form. Major molecular-genetic factors affecting risk of developing Alzheimer's disease are APOE gene and its product apolipoprotein E. This gene occurs in humans in three common variants that differ among each other in exon sequence by one single nucleotide polymorphism. Similar difference exists between human and mammal APOE gene that served as an origin for human forms. This thesis discusses possible evolutionary scenarios of APOE gene and links acquired information to molecular and environmental ascpects of Alzheimer's disease.

Title: Effect of individual intervention programme on selected components of health- related fitness to proband without previous movement experience Objective: The main objective of the thesis is physical analysis and diagnosis of individual, individual intervention program creation and subsequent assessment of whether and how personally leaded program can affect selected components of health-related fitness to proband without any previous experience. Methods: For the needs of this thesis several types of measurements were used. Body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis, postural stability - posturograph, laboratory stress test on a treadmill, terrain stress test on the athletics track, the basic movement patterns using diagnostic according to Janda, as a complementary test was chosen dynamometer to determine the strength of forearm muscles. Results: During the 16-week intervention changes occurred in many of the parameters. Individual intervention program has brought significant changes in body composition, specifically to reduce the ratio of ECM/BCM in the early phase of the program, but later was its exacerbation. Generally, the trend showed improvement in postural stability due to the generally realized PA. The intervention program did not demonstrate significant changes in...

Jansa, Petr ; Flemr, Libor (advisor) ; Novotná, Viléma (referee)
Title: Attitudes and opinions of the adolescents at the age of 15 - 18 to the sport and movement activities Objectives: The establishment and comparaison of the opinions and attitudes to movement activities and sport in teenagers was the main objective of this thesis. PASA questionnaire focused on15 - 18 years old secondary schools students was applied. Methods: A method of the written interviewing using PASA questionnaire was used. This questionnaire was widespread some 15 years ago, yet we made a pre- testing sample and some questions were modified. By means of the PASA questionnaire we asked about opinions and attitudes of the adolescents concerning the movement acitivities and sport in light of the psycho-social, real movement and sport activities, of the exploitation of the available physical education and sport facilities etc. The research was effected at selected secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Results: The obtained data were statistically processed and the results are presented in the aggregate tables stating the statistically significant differencies between sex, age groups. A part of the thesis is the comparaison of our result with a research carried out in 2000 (Slepička et. al., 2001). Key words: adolescent, physical activity, sports, interviews, secondary school
Intervention Program for Weight Reduction in Adults
Černý, Petr ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Štohanzl, Michal (referee)
Topic: Intervention Program for Weight Reduction in Adults Goals: The aim of this thesis is to devise as well as implement an intervention program covering exercise and dietary regimes for individuals that are overweight or obese. The goal also involves verifying the effectiveness by measuring various anthropometric parameters. Methods: The monitoring activities covered the period from 2.2. 2015 until 3.8. 2015. The intervention sample involved 9 individuals aged between 26 and 59. The sample was composed of three women and six men. The intervention program lasted for three weeks and I measured the weight using a normal personal weight and the waist circumference using a measuring tape. Results: The intervention program had a positive impact on the individuals that were involved. This resulted in decreased weight and a reduction in the weight circumference. The average loss of weight was 2.1 kg and the average waist circumference reduction was 2.4 cm. Thanks to the intervention program, the monitored anthropometric values were reduced. However, it also lead to the people achieving a better relationship towards physical activity and increased their awareness of the principles of a healthy diet. Keywords: overweight, obesity, physical activity, nutrition, weight, energy balance
Influence of crank arm length on change of muscle tone of musculus triceps surae
Stránský, Vojtěch ; Šifta, Petr (advisor) ; Otáhal, Jakub (referee)
Title: Influence of crank arm length on change of muscle tone of musculus triceps surae Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to conclude the theoretical knowledge of this issue. The experiment is to uncover via the objective results, if the change of the crank arm length can influence the muscle tone of m.triceps surae and additionaly how much. Methods: The measurement for this thesis was processed at Charles University at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sports, measuring 8 volunteers. Via myotonometry, the biomechanic properties (stiffness and viscosity) of m.triceps surae were measured before and after the workout on a bicycle ergometer. These steps were repeated twice within a week with different crank arm length (170mm and 175mm). On the basis of the reaction of soft tissues on deformation from the tip of the myotonometer, the graphs are depicted, containing the hysteresis curve. We evaluate there two phenomenons - steepness and the content of the curves. They indicate biomechanic properties of soft tissues, resp. also the muscle tissue. Results: The measurements from the 1st and 2nd week were compared. The results of 8 probands show that cycling as a physical activity changes stiffness and viscosity of m. triceps surae and has therefore an influence on the muscle tone. Considering larger...

In this part questionnaires which are intended for children from the selected primary school and deal with primarily the level of knowledge of medical and computer literacy will be elaborated. Questions are also pointed at physical activities of students in extracurricular activities, their frequency and the motivation for them. In...
The possibilities of physical exercise in relation to the metabolism after spinal cord injury
Olišarová, Eva ; Hlinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kříž, Jiří (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the information about the possibilities of the physical exercise in individuals with the spinal cord injury. The work presents various types of the physical activity and describes their effect on metabolism and body composition. It also includes the information about the frequency, the duration and the intensity of exercise. The interruption of the somatomotor and somatosensory pathways in patients with spinal cord injury leads to the reduction of their physical activity. As a consequence of that, their metabolic profile and body composition get worse. Early after the injury, the patients suffer from the massive muscle atrophy and the rise of the amount of adipose tissue. These changes have a negative effect on metabolism of lipids and carbohydrates. It results in the development of dyslipidaemia and insulin resistance, sometimes even in type 2 diabetes mellitus. These secondary complications worsen the quality and the length of life of the patients with the spinal cord injury. Better understanding of these issues is necessary to improve the quality of health care for these people. The work includes a short questionnaire. Its goal is to describe the current situation of patients with the spinal cord injury in the Czech Republic. The questionnaire was...
Physical Activity and Nutrition in Therapy of Metabolic Syndrome
Joachimová, Marie ; Radvanský, Jiří (advisor) ; Illinger, Vojtěch (referee)
INTRODUCTION: Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of risk factors which tend to occur together and belong to the main causes of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes mellitus. In the treatment of metabolic syndrome dominates pharmacotherapy of the individual components. However, this therapy usually addresses the consequences rather than the causes and puts the patient in the position of a passive recipient of drugs. Although a change of lifestyle should be the cornerstone of prevention and treatment of the metabolic syndrome, the vast majority of the general and professional public doesn't know how and to what extent it can help. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to find recommendations on physical activity and nutrition in relation to the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome and the mechanisms of action. METHODS: Information was sought in scientific journals, books and websites of healthcare organizations. Review articles and meta-analysis were selected primarily from the journals, general information and recommendations related to the issues discussed were obtained from the books and websites. RESULTS: The available literature confirmed that the modification of physical activity and nutrition can significantly improve all of the metabolic abnormalities associated with metabolic...
