Planning of future in families with a child with intellectual disability

This work deals with the issue of future planning in families with a child with mental disabilities. The theoretical part outlines the definition of a family, the specifics of families with a child with mental disabilities, social services for adults with mental disabilities, and the specifics of future planning for people with mental disabilities. Within the practical part of the bachelor thesis, the methodology of the chosen approach is defined, and the results of the research survey are interpreted. The aim of the work is to find out how families with a child with mental disabilities approach future planning. The chosen research method is semi- structured interviews with ten respondents. The testimonies of parents and siblings of children with mental disabilities provided insight into the approach to future planning, the difficulties associated with this topic, and the unique stories of individual families.

Family of child with an intellectual disability

The topic of the bachelor thesis is family of a child with intellectual disability and the aim was to find out how the birth of a child with intellectual disabilities affected the life of his family and how the family experienced this situation. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is devoted to an introduction to the issue of intellectual disability. It also deals with the topic of family, the birth of a child with intellectual disability and the process of its acceptance. It also looks at the changes in the lives of families of children with intellectual disabilities. The practical part is a qualitative research that explores the experiences of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews and then analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis. The result of the thesis is an interpretation of the experience of mothers of children with intellectual disabilities and the lived experience of caring for their child. Parents' evaluation of complex care for neurologically impaired children

Title: Parents' evaluation of complex care for neurologically impaired children Objectives: Thesis aims to assess parents' views on the complex rehabilitation care provided to their children with neurological disabilities, or to point out deficiencies in the multidisciplinary approach to therapy. Methods: Both qualitative and quantitative methods were combined in the form of a mixed methods research. The qualitative part included semi-structured interviews with 8 families. These interviews were aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the parents' perspectives regarding the care provided for their children. A core set of questions provided a framework for discussion and provided the possibility of further focusing on specific themes as needed. Data were segmented and coded into units that were compared with each other within an embedded theory framework. The quantitative analysis involved an online questionnaire which contained both closed and semi-closed questions. This questionnaire was completed by a sample of 62 families. Relationships in the family of a child with combined disability

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of relationships in the family of a child with a combined disability, it also deals with the economic and social situation and the impact of the child's disability on siblings and the extended family. The theoretical part contains three chapters. In the first chapter, the term "combined disability", its types, social services supporting families with combined disabilities and individual types of disabilities are defined: developmental brain disorder, SYNGAP, autism spectrum disorder, epilepsy, cortical visual impairment, ADHD, which are reflected in my research part of my bachelor's thesis, and I also mention other types of combined disability (Down syndrome, cerebral palsy). The second chapter is focused on the term "family", where I describe the functions, signs, and types of family. The third part of the bachelor's thesis is devoted to the description of interpersonal relationships, partner relationships, sibling relationships and how these relationships are affected by a child with a disability. Families of gifted children with ADHD

This thesis is focused on the topic of twice-exceptionality in children of school age. It deals with the specifics of gifted children with ADHD. The theoretical part defines basic concepts such as giftedness, intelligence, twice- exceptionality and ADHD. It describes the specifics of diagnostics and care of gifted children with ADHD. In the empirical part qualitative research using case study design was carried out. Parents of twice-exceptional children were chosen as respondents. Obtained data was analysed using the methods of open coding, thematic analysis and cross-case analysis. The results of research show that according to parents it is effective to implement structured environment and to use rewards as means of motivation. Parents approach caring for their children actively and responsibly. According to parents, effective communication with school is a very important aspect of their children's education. This communication happens to be problematic in some cases and some parents require teachers to use more active approach to problem solving. Family of child with Kabuki synrome

The thesis deals with the family of a child with Kabuki syndrome. In the Czech Republic, the diagnosis was established in 2010. The main objective of the thesis was to compile comprehensive information about the family of a child with Kabuki syndrome and to determine more detailed information about the functioning of this family in the areas of upbringing, experiences with the school system, and also the utilization of support by the family. The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The theoretical part is divided into four chapters. The first chapter discusses the definition of Kabuki syndrome, the history of research on this rare condition, diagnosis, and characteristic features in individuals with Kabuki syndrome. The second chapter focuses in more detail on the clinical symptoms of Kabuki syndrome, from health issues and treatment options to levels of cognitive function. The third chapter specifies on families of children with rare diseases, and the following chapter discusses the possibilities of support for families of children with Kabuki syndrome. The empirical part consists of a research investigation focusing on a child with Kabuki syndrome, the family of the child, and the functioning of the family through semi-structured interviews and a case study.

Awareness of selected secondary school pupils about domestic violence and their experience with it

The diploma thesis deals with the awareness of high school students about domestic violence and their experiences with it. The aim of this work is to penetrate the field of domestic violence and map the knowledge of secondary school students about domestic violence and their experiences with it in everyday life. The theoretical part of the work mainly deals with domestic violence and its manifestations. Furthermore, the work focuses on the types, forms and consequences of domestic violence and on its actors. In the following chapter, the work is devoted to legislation and non-profit organizations. The last chapter is dedicated to solution methods and prevention options for secondary school students. The research part describes the results of the quantitative research, which was carried out on the basis of a questionnaire survey with pupils of a selected secondary school. Through a questionnaire survey, it was found that most of the students of the selected secondary school already have at least a basic awareness of this issue. In the knowledge part, the students of the selected high school succeeded with a success rate of 71.2%. The point of view of the employees in the children's home to a quality of life and wellbeing of their clients

This thesis focuses on the point of view of the employees in the children's home on the quality of life and wellbeing of their clients. The literature review describes theoretical knowledge related to the topic. The research part has a qualitative form, where semi- structured interviews with the educators of children's homes were carried out. In the literature review, institutional care or the functioning of children's homes is described. Furthermore, the paper elaborates on the problem of negative influences endangering the child. Such influences represent inappropriate family environment, emotional attachment disorders, inappropriate and damaging behavior towards the child (abuse, neglect), psychological deprivation or adverse childhood experiences and traumas. These negative experiences significantly affect and influence children. Specifics of children's life in a children's home are described in more detail. Lastly, the paper defines terms "quality of life" and "wellbeing" and their possible concepts, especially in connection with life in a children's home.
