Election Calculator
Majerech, Tomáš ; Hrubý, Martin (referee) ; Rozman, Jaroslav (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to provide an easy and intuitive tool for checking similarity of political views with real politicians. Here is no possibility for populism or lies. The raw data from the real and already held votes will clearly reveal whether the politician kept his pre-election promises and voted as expected. The basic function is to allow the user to vote in existing votes from Chamber of Deputies and the subsequent display of his match percentage with individual politicians and parties. Another aim is to allow ordinary people to express their opinions, for this purpose each registered user has the opportunity to add a comment or stars rating to each Chamber of Deputies member.
ODA as an actor in the formation of the right and Czech conservatism
Brožová, Karolina ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Franěk, Jakub (referee)
The aim of this thesis will be to characterize the formation of Czech conservative and rightwing thinking in political practice, which seemed to be something completely unimaginable in the communist environment of the time. Although the roots of Anglo-Saxon conservatism go back to the 18th century, it is difficult to define it as a modern ideology at this time. Its meaning has evolved and changed over time, but in some ways it could be said that the basic principles of conservatism have survived to this day. In this thesis, I will primarily reflect on values such as freedom, equality, property, tradition and morality because it is these values that the ODA, as the primary actor with which this thesis is primarily concerned, drew upon in a society shaped by communism and the vision of socialism as the only possible path for the emergence of rightwing politics.
The Political Budget Cycle of Municipalities in The Czech Republic
Pinlová, Adriana ; Kalabiška, Roman (advisor) ; Palanský, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis focuses on the political budget cycle at the municipal level in the Czech Republic. Using a sample of all 6 254 municipalities observed between 2010 and 2022, it examines whether elected councillors manipulate the public budget in an attempt to secure re-election. Using a fixed effects model, it anal- yses the influence of election and pre-election year on changes in the volume and structure of municipal expenditures. The thesis also offers a comparison of municipalities with extended powers, municipalities with an authorised mu- nicipal office and the remaining smaller municipalities. The results confirm the presence of a political budget cycle for all types of municipalities in the Czech Republic. Before elections, there is usually a reduction in current expenditures (especially in the area of administration) and a subsequent increase in capital expenditures (especially in the areas of transport, culture, sport and leisure activities), which are highly visible and attractive to voters.

Furthermore, an analysis of the SCL Group and its subsidiaries, which specialize in data analysis and political marketing, is conducted. In the empirical part, factors related to the Cambridge Analytica scandal that influence politics and society in Europe and North America are analyzed through a comparison of two events: the United Kingdom's referendum on membership in the European Union and the 2016 US presidential election. The conclusion presents the results of the findings.

Political communication is examined from the view of the theory of political parallelism and the influence of media on politics.

Thota, Raghavendra Aditya Babu ; Střítecký, Vít (advisor) ; Solovyeva, Anzhelika (referee)
This paper focuses on the securitization of the migration crisis from the perspective of Slovakian parliamentary elections of 2016 and the Czech parliamentary elections in 2017. The migration/refugee crisis that started in 2015 played a significant role during the pre-electoral discourse and political campaigns. This goal of this paper is to apply the theory of securitization Copenhagen Peace Research Institute in the context of securitization of refugees or migrants of the migration crisis of 2015. I analyze mainly the discourse rhetoric and speech act of numerous parties who played an active part in these elections along with any written communication from the parties such as official party manifestos. I try to evaluate the tone that the parties tried to present, their clever usage of words or manner of writing and speech along with the sentiments that they tried to invoke in order to further their case.
