Development of digital literacy in primary school education

The bachelor thesis deals with the search for the possibilities of developing digital literacy in primary school subjects focusing on the digital competence of communication and collaboration in the sixth year of primary school. The theoretical part defines the concepts of digital literacy and essential digital competence, which was added as the seventh key competence in the revision of the Framework Curriculum for Primary Education in 2021. Subsequently, the relationship between these two concepts and the context of their emergence is explained. An overview of the learning outcomes of the curriculum areas of the FCE Framework usually taught in the sixth year of primary school is based on an analysis of a few selected school curricula. In addition to the materials needed for the pupil's advancement in digital literacy, the DigCompEdu European Framework of Digital Competences for Educators is also summarised. This defines the digital competencies teachers need to have to develop digital literacy in their pupils correctly and effectively. Digital literacy in Computer science

The subject of this diploma thesis is the investigation of digital literacy in the field of Informatics. The concepts of digital literacy, digital competence and the framework of digital competence are explained in the theoretical part. These frameworks, which are used to define and assess digital competences in more detail, are subsequently analysed, described, and compared with each other. Then, based on chosen sources, the digital literacy of current Czech teachers is described. Furthermore, the currently ongoing revision of school educational programmes for primary schools is described, which adds digital competence to the educational programmes for primary schools and replaces the educational field "Information and communication technology" with the new educational field "Informatics". At the end of the theoretical part, the available materials for the preparation of Informatics learning activities in accordance with the mentioned revision are analysed. In the practical part, fifteen learning activities are proposed for the lessons of the new Informatics for various classes of the second grade of primary schools. Perceptions of new media by preschool children

The bachelor thesis focuses on preschool children and their perception of new media. The aim of the thesis is to create educational material, based on a theoretical analysis of the given issue with the contribution of empirical evidence, which is focused on bringing the topic of new media closer to preschool children. The theoretical framework defines the term "new media" and describes the field of new media a preschool child should be associated with, based on current studies at the time of writing. As part of the thesis, qualitative research was carried out in the form of action research which consisted of two sets of survey research. The first survey collected data from the children's legal representatives in the form of a questionnaire. The follow-up second survey research took place in the form of individual interviews with the children. The results of the research describe the new media environment of preschool children, the values that are transmitted to children, the positive and negative aspects children perceive in new media, the behaviour they consider correct within new media, and the factors influencing preschool children's perception of new media.
Digital technologies in mainstream and special kindergartens.

The aim of the Bachelor thesis is a comparison of using digital technologies in classrooms of mainstream kindergarten with classrooms of special kindergarten. The next aim is to detect reasons for non-using digital technologies in kindergartens. The theoretical part is about definitions relating to digital technologies, options of pre-school education in the Czech Republic, anchoring of digital education in legislative documents and options of teachers´ education in the digital technology area. Last but not least there are described digital technologies contained in the survey. (Practical part of bachelor´s thesis was processed by a form of quality research, which was realized by respondent survey.) In the practical part there are described aims, hypotheses, methodology of the thesis, survey creation and characteristic of survey sample. By graphs and tables there are described results surveys and verified hypotheses.
Selected public service media and their activity to increase digital literacy in society

The bachelor thesis deals with the concept of digital literacy in relation to public service media. The theoretical part first clarifies the conceptualisation of digital literacy, then analyses the development of the term from its first occurrences to its current understanding. It then discusses the relevance of digital literacy in European legislation, especially in the context of long-term strategies, analyses the current situation with digital skills in Europe and describes the educational role of public service media. In the methodological part, it defines the research methods, the theoretical background and the explanation of their application in the follow-up research part, operationalises the concept of digital literacy and defines the research sample. The research part comparatively examines the activities of the public service media BBC and Czech Television, first in the programme offer, then in the web-based educational portals. The research part concludes with an analysis of content on web-based educational portals focused on the development of digital competences, applying the DigComp framework.
Digital divides in aspect of gender

This diploma thesis Digital gender gap deals with the issue of the digital divide in connection with one of the aspect that can affect it. The thesis outlines the concept of the digital divide as a problem of modern globalized society and presents the basic theories for understanding the issue. The digital divide is related to several social factors that are outlined in this work, but the main focus is on the gender aspect. Even in the modern world, it is not possible to completely close the gap in this context just yet. Thus, the characteristics of the problem in connection with the gender factor are outlined. Today, rather than the problem of the primary digital divide, it is the problem of unequal skills and the way in which information and communication technologies are used in our society is being talked about. After defining the basic concepts and this phenomenon, the work presents several foreign studies to create a comprehensive overview of the issue and also data from the Český statistický úřad are presented. The second part of this work is a methodological part, which was inspired by foreign study from 2014, which monitors the digital literacy of respondents. Distance learning and the use of digital technologies in education

This thesis focuses on the effect of the covid-19 pandemic on education at a selected primary school from the point of view of teachers during the first and second wave. It focuses on defining the concepts such as distance learning, e-learning, digital technologies and platforms. The work reflects how the Czech education system was affected from March 2020 to May 2021. The theoretical part focuses on the theoretical conception of terms that are associated with the pandemic and distance learning, but also with the concept of socialization and communication, which were greatly affected during the pandemic, especially when it comes to children. The research part was then carried out with the help of a semi-structured interview, which was conducted at a selected primary school in groups with four teachers. One of the most fundamental questions of the whole interview was the greatness of the pandemic`s effect on the pupils and the teachers of this particular primary school. It describes the ways of creation and the construction of children's information-technology competencies in preparation for the first grade of elementary school. The theoretical part defines some basic terms such as digital literacy, ICT literacy and others, it describes specifics of development of the child's preschool and shows the possibilities of using of digital technology in nursery school. The practical part of the thesis investigates how information technologies are incorporated into the education of children in nursery school; it investigates development of information-technology competencies of children of preschool age by work on computer and by interview of children and of their parents. On the basis of the discovered facts are showed ways for the development of the information-technological competencies of preschool children. Media education and digital literacy of blind high school students

The paper addresses issues of media education in blind high-school students, especially in the topical context of digital media. The theoretical part devotes to problems of education of visually impaired persons. Next, concern the subsumption of media education as a cross- sectional subject into Czech primary and high-schools education. This part is also concerned with specific digital media and extensive opportunities of its utilization for visually impaired persons. In the experimental part of the paper, discrete components of digital literacy of sightless high-school students are analysed. The method of focused (semi-structured) interviews was selected. Interviews were executed with ten visually impaired high-school students and subsequently analysed with the help of qualitative content analysis. The aim of the paper is to give a notice on dependence of blind people to digital media and its specifics and, in this conjunction, emphasise the importance of media education.
