Substance use among seniors using social services in the Central Bohemia Region

Introduction: Aging and old age have their own characteristic manifestations that affect individuals from the perspective of physical, psychological and social aspects. Old age is associated with certain risks, e.g. in association with changes of health status. This can affect the individual and influence the risk of the development of addiction. Harmful use of addictive substances and the risk of addiction are not related only to young people, but also to the elderly. Addictive substances which are used the most commonly include alcohol, psychoactive drugs and tobacco. Aims: The aim of the study was to map and describe patterns of substance use among seniors who use social services, specifically retirement homes for elderly and nursing services in the Central Bohemia region. Methods and sets: Data were obtained using a questionnaire survey within the quantitative research carried out in retirement homes for the elderly and nursing services in the Central Bohemia region. The social services were selected by the method of multi-stage random selection. The research set, which was selected by the method of deliberate sampling, consists of 100 respondents. Medical cannabis in the Czech Republic from the point of view of doctors- qualitative study

Background: Since 2010, medical professionals have been working to make cannabis available for medical use. In 2013 enter into force a public notice, which provides conditions for the handling of cannabis for medical use. In 2019 came into force a law, which regulates conditions for prescribing and reimbursing cannabis for medical use. In 2022 came into force an amendment of this law with minor changes. Aims: The aim of the bachelor is to map the situation regarding the prescribing of cannabis for medical use in the Czech Republic. The aim is also to describe the history of cannabis as a medicine, the therapeutic effects of substances contained in cannabis, the methods of applying cannabis and the legislation and competence of doctors regarding prescribing too. The aim is to find out whether the effects that are described in the literature are the same in practice. Methods: A qualitative study using a semi-structured interview was used for data collection. The respondents in the research became doctors who are authorized to prescribe medical cannabis and also actively prescribe it. Business Plan - Establishment of an Organic CBD Growing Industry.

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the creation of a business plan, the establishment of an organic CBD growing company. The work consists of three parts, while the first part describes the theoretical background, which are crucial for the analytical part where the current state of the market is analyzed in detail. In the analytical part, a questionnaire was used for the preferences of potential customers, and the methodologies of Porter's model of five competitive forces, PEST analysis and SWOT analysis were used. In the part of the own solutions, a business plan, a complete production process and subsequently a financial plan with subsequent risk analysis were prepared. In the end, the whole bachelor thesis is evaluated.
Crime relating to the abuse of addictive substances

This diploma thesis is divided into nine chapters. The introductory chapters are focused mainly on currently highly discussed issues concerning criminal acts connected with drug abuse and historical roots and development of contemporary Czech legal regulation. The main part of this diploma thesis consists of the description of every single crime regulated by sections 283-287 of Act No. 40/2009, Criminal Code. The last chapter of this diploma thesis afterwards presents the description of the other crimes which are according to the author the most drug abuse related.

This diploma thesis focuses specifically on the phenomenon of self-medication with cannabis (Cannabis Sativa L.) in the Czech Republic exploring subjective perception of this treatment by ill persons and its sociocultural framework. It describes a situation when the state fails to effectively regulate medical cannabis and patients often seek practices of self-medication, which remains illegal. Theoretical part of this thesis aims to explain the self- medication and cannabis use in the sociocultural context. Practical part is based on an anthropological research, which was implemented in the Czech Republic from January 1, 2017 to May 1, 2017 in a form of the on-line qualitative questionnaire survey. The research sample consists of 107 subjects, who used cannabis and its derives for self-medication. The analysis was done by the Grounded theory method. The results demonstrate that people who seek cannabis self-medication in the Czech Republic consider current legal regulation of cannabis objectionable. Cannabis plants for self-medication are usually grown at home and people find information about specifics of the treatment on-line. Background The period of adolescence is typical for first experiments and initiation of substance use. The onset of experiments emerges between 11 and 15 years of age according to different authors. Although many adolescents end with experiments, there is still a group of those who proceed to regular use. Frequent, regular and especially heavy substance use represents various risks in many aspects of individual's life. According to various studies earlier onset of substance use may predict serious difficulties in adult stages of life. Important and currently widely discussed question is differences in substance use between boys and girls. Aims To identify the age of cigarette, alcohol and cannabis use onset according to gender. To find out prevalence of use among boys and girls. To find out whether incidence of substance use is higher during school year or summer holidays. Methods The ESPAD questionnaire was used for data collection, which was realized in the period of 34 months from August 2007 until June 2010. Rituals as Elements of Control in Regular Marijuana use

This bachelor thesis deals with the use of controlled drugs. It focuses on marijuana users and their rituals, which present an element of control. The theoretical part summarizes basic information about marijuana including the nature, effects and risks associated with its use. There is also explained the theory of controlled drug use, major works and authors who have studied this phenomenon and the meaning of the word "ritual". The next section describes my qualitative research and basic research questions. The last section is devoted to the analysis of semi-structured interviews. The analysis explains areas of life that affect the respondents' control, the differences between the ways of use marijuana and a description of the customs and rituals of its users. It also discusses the meanings that users attach to the drug, which in turn influence their rituals. It also provides knowledge about the importance of structure of living.
The Politics of Marijuana Legalisation in a Comparative Perspective

This work focus on the issue of potential legalisation of marijuana for recreational use in Czech Republic in comparison with different experiences from two, foreign states of the European Union - Netherlands and Spain. The work begins with a description of a historical context of cannabis use that is subsequently followed by historic and actual state of legislation in Czech Republic. The chapter regarding the situation in Czech Republic is furthermore composed of different opinions of relevant political parties, experts and public opinion polls. The second part is addressing the historical process and actual state of legalisation in Netherlands and Spain that is afterwards also accompanied by the opinions of political parties, experts and public opinion polls, which are focused on actual problems considering the specific type of legalisation in both countries. This chapter is followed-up by a comparison of the Spanish and Dutch model of legalisation and by general summarization of different political and expert opinions across the chosen countries accompanied by the information from the public opinion polls. in English Title: Development of legal regulation of drug related crimes The thesis analyzes current criminal legislation in the area of drug-related crimes, compares it with previously effective legislation and outlines ambiguities in interpretation of selected legal terms. Increased attention is paid to legislative changes of the past five years which determine the current situation and future legislative development. The author predominantly focuses on problematic issues and challenged provisions related to the discussed topic which she then examines in detail. In order to provide the reader with a full picture of the topic, opinions of academic and professional authorities are presented. Furthermore, judicial practice of mainly Supreme Court is emphasized, as it plays a key role in interpretation of law. Alongside currently applicable court rulings, obsolete judicature is also quoted in order to help the reader understand the background of the legislation and especially its previous precipitous development. Methodics of drug crime investigation Abstract The subject of my diploma work is the methodics of drug crime investigation. Above all, I have chosen this subject because I am deeply interested in the problem of drug and circumstances that are linked with this issue. As police officer I have a lot of experience on the field of drug crime investigation and I decided to focus my diploma work especially on the methodics of serious organized and international drug crime. My diploma work is structured into two parts and seven chapters. In the General part I tried to explain most important facts about drug crime, its history, its causes and I mentioned some specifics of the drug scene in the Czech Republic. Chapter 2 of my diploma work is aimed to provide detailed information about various kinds of drugs, about their origin, appearance and effects on human health. Very important part of my diploma work is also next chapter that is aimed on legal regulation of drug treatment in our country.
