Qualification of an assistant of a pedagogue and their role at educating Roma pupils.

The thesis deals with educational assistant requirements, which are necessary for the performance of this profession. The theoretical part presents basic concepts associated with the researched issues. Initially, it characterizes upbringing and education. Subsequently, it presents the most common disorders that occur in Roma children, such as mental retardation or ADHD. An important chapter is the Roma pupil. This part presents the history of Roma education, their specific attitudes to gain knowledge and also the Roma language itself. There is also a chapter about educational assistants. The practical part is based on interviews with educational assistants and case studies of Roma pupils, which closely specify the need of the assistant and his activities in the educational process. From evaluating the interviews, it is clear that apart from the qualification requirements, personality prerequisites also play an important role.
Term of evolution and its understanding by students of secondary schools and high schools.

The term of evolution and its understanding by students of secondary schools and high schools This Master's thesis deals with the conception of evolutionary topic in schools and textbooks. It introduces education systems and curricular documents of England, Scotland and the Czech Republic. Based on this information an analysis of biology textbooks was made, which was focused on the theme of evolution. The research included 62 textbooks distributed by 27 different publishers. Comparative SWOT analysis of these textbooks has shown that the concept of biology in general is presented differently, what is also reflected in the interpretation of the studies of evolution. The questionnaire research based on those findings was done in the Czech Republic. It is focused on secondary school and high school pupil's knowledge and their personal opinions about this topic. 586 pupils took part in this research. It was found that in the context of evolutionary processes the pupils have problems to use commonly known biological, or evolutionary terms (e.g. adaptation, evolution of the organisms). In the theoretical section a number of interesting comparative data is listed. This section covers not only the present of British education and related areas but also historical development. Great attention is paid to comparison of the two school systems, as well as to the differences and similarities in the education of teachers and managers. Practical part provides by the method of survey suggestions of areas in which in the opinions of the respondents could be used practical experience of British school management in the Czech conditions, although both countries are different in terms of history, sociality and also in terms of the state systems. Progress in trends of foreign pre-primary and primary schools

This dissertation deals with new approaches of alternative schooling in foreign countries which recently became very popular. These three schools and approaches chosen for this dissertation are not known in Czech Republic yet. The dissertation presents these alternative schools and proposes alternative brushing up of the ideas to the maintain schools. The first school and the first approach of alternative is democratic school or also free school. The oldest democratic school is Summerhill in the east of England. The second interesting approach and school is Te Whāriki from New Zealand. The framework deals with education through socio-cultural context. The last representative of schooling which dissertation deals with will be Reggio Emillia, which is from Italy and based on ideas of Loris Malaguzzi. The dissertation applies to main philosophies of these three alternatives, which appears abroad and mainly in Great Britain. This piece of work evaluates similarities and differences of these alternative schools. According to from which country the concrete school comes from and circumstances influencing the origin. Prof. Jaroslav Kalous, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: Dynamic development of contemporary society significantly affects the education requirements. Therefore current educational program has to respond flexibly and implement new knowledge of technology, information and communication technology, economics, social disparities reflect accretion, changes in traditional family model, ecological threats. The role of school as a social institution must ensure the implementation of a range of functions and its operation is dependent on many involved factors associated not only with school itself but also with external environment. Thus in the first part, this thesis describes the function of schools and current school education. Further attention is also paid to the role and function of school leaders in education and school management. The second part is focused on the research performance of the functions of schools in primary education level. Although the results of the research are clear on the performance of most requested features, their direct impact on school and leisure-time activities of students and public must be improved.
Teachers' approach to socially disadvantaged children

The aim of this thesis is to comprehensively describe the opinions of teachers regarding education of socially disadvantaged children. In order to achieve this aim a questionnaire survey was carried out among teachers of preparatory classes, first and fourth grades. The questions covered four areas: general readiness of schools for education socially disadvantaged pupils, educational training and level of competence, teaching practice and the relationship to the family of the pupil. The research was based on a theoretical framework that describes the current situation and possible changes concerning the education of children from socially deprived groups. The range of sample together with the variety of the sample, which corresponds to the population of teachers, it allowed us to generalize the data. This research provides new empirical evidence of teachers' opinions about the issues of education of socially disadvantaged children from as well as the basis for the implementation of such measures that can aid the relationship between teacher and pupil from socially deprived groups.
Education and the Social Inequalities Reproduction in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis deals with three big theories of reproduction of social inequalities - Pierre Bourdieu, Basil Bernstein and social- psychological model by Duncan and Blau. It explains main terms, which are used by the authors as well as mechanism of reproduction. By compilation of papers in the field it provides situation in education and inequalities in Czech Republic and compares it to the world- known concepts. Inspired by Murphy's refusal to accept automatic change of class disparities into class inequalities a also by in certain way "alternative conceptions", the thesis ends in introduction of following direction considering research of inequalities. It brings forward an opinion that i tis desirable to closely examine the relationship between aspirations of children in less wealthy families and school as a structural factor to learn whereas this mostly affected group regard this issue as a problem.
