Mgr. Michal Dubec Dissertation The possibilities of guiding secondary school students to self-regulation in situations of challenging behavior. Abstract This dissertation examines the possibilities of guiding secondary school students to self- regulation in situations of challenging behavior. The thesis is divided into five chapters of which the first four represent their theoretical background. The first chapter is devoted to pupils' behavior. It describes different types of pupils' behavior that deviate from teachers' expectations. Challenging pupils' behavior is defined and its etiology is described on this basis. The second chapter is devoted to pupils' self-regulation. The term Challenging pupils' behavior is defined firstly and then selected concepts of self-regulation and maps of anchoring of pupils' self-regulation in current curricular documents are introduced. It is concluded by describing the individual components of self-regulation that can be addressed to teachers for developing it. The third chapter is devoted to communication between teachers and pupils in situations of challenging behavior. Realization of Traffic Education in Primary School

To follow, the focus of this diploma thesis is how traffic education can be properly incorporated into the first stage of our primary school curriculum and the different possibilities how the whole subject should be taught. Theoretical part deals with traffic education as part of education and also defines the term - traffic education, the meaning and the aim of traffic education area all together with short view into traffic education concept and comparision to abroad. In this part you can also find overview of implementation and content of outputs for each grade at the first stage of primary school together with various materials which can be used in traffic education. There is prepared short functional model of traffic education lesson for each grade in accordance with RVP (framework education program) in research part. These lessons has been tried out. An important aspect of teaching model is that there is no need of speacial material and it is not time consuming. Teaching model is also commented by several teachers from various cities, types of schools and different lenth of teaching practise and supplemented by possible conection with other subjects or cross-cutting themes. Innovative approaches to the assessment of pupils at primary education

In the theoretical part of the thesis we will define the term of assessment according to the literature and we will also present different types, functions and forms of assessment. The main part of the theoretical part is focused on final verbal assessment which is currently put on the same level within the educational system by the new Education Act as the traditional mark system. The development of this way of assessment since 1989 will be reflected. Advantages and disadvantages of this kind of assessment will be summed up in the thesis. Strategies which can help the teacher to collect the materials for the final verbal assessment effectively are also to be found in the thesis. Then, there will be the comparison of traditional and final verbal assessment. The form of final verbal assessment in Great Britain and in Germany will be introduced in the next part of the thesis. In the empirical part of the thesis we will examine the way of final verbal assessment in the primary schools' practice. Possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech schools

The diploma thesis deals with an innovative method CLIL, which combines the teaching of subject matter with the teaching of a foreign language. The aim of the work is to use action research to verify the possibilities of applying CLIL in first class of chosen state primary school. The action research is a suitable tool to implement a new approach and contributes to improvement of the quality of teaching. The research is focused on the verification of different supporting strategies to create a set of functional scaffolding techniques, which help first graders to overcome the language barriers and achieve the learning objectives. The core of this thesis consists of detailed lesson plans and reflections, in which the used activities and scaffolding are analysed in terms of efficiency. The final part of the thesis includes several recommendations for practice from the perspective of the possibilities and boundaries of using CLIL method in Czech state schools. The research confirmed that the language level of pupils is not a necessary condition of teaching through CLIL and therefore it is possible to use CLIL from first class of primary school. Bullying of pupils in primary school

(The thesis has both a theoretical and a research section.) Master thesis' theoretical section examines problems of school bullying, especially defining its term, classification, bullying stages, its effects, the cause of bullying, participants' typology, (victim, aggressor, silent majority) and prevention, etc. The aim of the practical section is to monitor what approaches and strategies are used at the two intentionally chosen school institutions in terms of preventions and solving problems of bullying. The investigation into the problems of pupils who were affected by bullying and who judged their school approach to bullying after some time is very important and being reflected, too. There are these research questions determined: In what extent bullying can be detected at the two intentionally chosen primary schools? What approaches and strategies are used in terms of prevention and tackling the problems of bullying? Which of these approaches are applied the most often? How is the teacher's and school's approach to bullying judged by pupil victims after some time? This part is concerned with collecting data and its processing. V životě každého člověka se vyskytne mnoho cest, kterými se může dát. Každý z nás si vybírá svou cestu, pro sebe nejschůdnější, podle svého naturelu a v kontextu nastávajících životních situací, a také podle toho, jací lidé nás obklopují. Všichni máme rodiče, příbuzné, přátele, kamarády, známé, spolužáky, spolupracovníky, idoly, vzory, učitele... Tito lidé nás zároveň nějakým způsobem ovlivňují. Setkávání snimi nás mění, ale určitě mění i ty druhé. Ovlivňujeme se tedy navzájem. Každý člověk je naprosto neopakovatelná osobnost, ke které nikde na světě neexistuje identický duplikát. Na svých cestách tedy můžeme potkat mnoho lidí a máme tu jedinečnou možnost se od sebe navzájem mnohému naučit. Jak už jsem se zmínila, setkání s lidmi nás mění. Issues of Gifted Education in the Teacher Training for Primary School

The thesis deals with issues related to implementation of the topic of gifted education into teacher training for primary schools. In the theoretical part of this thesis are prepared on the basis of scientific literature the most important findings concerning the theory and the concept of talent. Main attention is paid to personality of gifted child in preschool and primary school age, their identification, specific forms of behavior and potential problems. Following are summarized basic organizational forms, strategies and models of gifted education. Given the current trend of integration of pupils with special educational needs, the thesis focus on education of gifted students in regular classrooms. In the next section are described the specifics of development and state of the system of care for gifted pupils in the Czech Republic. The final chapter is devoted to issues of personality and teacher education. The aim of the research part of this thesis is in the action research based on the planning, re-implementation and evaluation of actual teaching to create unique design of course focused on issues of highly able pupils as part of teacher training for primary schools at the Faculty of Education, Charles University.

ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) which the European Union finds as a useful tool for teaching foreign languages in the 21st century. The objective of the theoretical part is to clarify the concept of CLIL and compare different interpretations and models which appears in school practice. We also focus on meta-analysis of research studies that have been undertaken in this area since 2005. The theoretical part provides insight into the history of CLIL in selected European countries including the Czech Republic. The first part concludes with a chapter on theoretical concepts which CLIL refers to and which are essential for implementation of CLIL. The aim of the empirical part is to implement CLIL into primary school teaching and describe what changes this innovation brings into practice. The possibilities of the use of project teaching at the first grade of primary school

The theme of this diploma thesis is project teaching and the possibilities of its use at primary schools. This thesis is based on the points of departure and principles of the transformation of Czech education system after 1989, and it is focused on the internal reform of primary education. The key part of the thesis deals with project teaching - mainly its history, characterization and methodology. The practical part attempts to verify project teaching in practice. The authoress created and realized five projects for first grade primary school pupils. Each one contains educational objectives, a map of thougt, a detailed description of its realization, and an evaluation of the project including selfreflection. The pupils' activity during the projects are documented in the appendixes. On the basis of these projects the conditions for successful realization of project teaching at the first grade of primary school are charakterized. La partie recherche de ce document examine l'adaptation des enfants étrangers à l'environnement scolaire tchèque et la réalité de l'éducation multiculturelle dans nos écoles.
