Close Truth of Distant Metaphors: How Metaphors Create the World

The thesis deals with a metaphor and its place in philosophy. It engages in a concept of metaphor as a transference with a help of Aristotle, Nietzsche, Ricoeur, and others, and explores consequences which follow from such a concept in the perspective of truth conditions. Firstly, it focuses on an exploration of a nature of the metaphor with a relation to an earlier philosophical tradition. Secondly, it examines categories of similarity, reference and imagination as fundamental constituents of metaphorical utterances. Furthermore, it also re-evaluates the distinction between literal and figurative meaning and living and dead metaphors to uncover the metaphor as a creative principle of language, which is characteristic by its actualizing and approaching power.
Space Reinhabited: Conception of Space in Martin Heidegger's Work and His Influence on the Theory of Architecture in the 2nd Half of the 20th Century

5 Abstract This bachelor's thesis attempts to compare and explain the different concepts of spatiality in Martin Heidegger's work. Following Heidegger's 1969 seminar in Le Thor, this thesis builds on his retrospective division of his work, centred around being. First, he askes about the meaning, then about the truth and finally about the place of being. In this thesis, the comparison of different approaches to spatiality in different periods of Heidegger's life is emphasized as well as his rejection of the previous Newtonian, Galilean and Cartesian approaches. This rejection is gradually taking place since Being and Time and it is clear that Heidegger's concept of spatiality is fairly consistent, despite the changing terminology. It is also pointed out that his phenomenological approach is ground-breaking in some respects, mainly because of the expressions and terms he uses in his language. This means that his approach is almost unparalleled as far western physics and metaphysics are concerned, making Heidegger more influential even outside the field of philosophy, as is demonstrated by the architectural theory in which his concept of spatiality is still visible today. Research of Relationship between Art and Knowledge and its Contribution to Theory of Contemporary Visual Art Abstract: The dissertation deals with the relationship between art and knowledge and examines which contribution this thematic might have to the theory of contemporary visual art. The choice of the theme is based on the sensitivity to the current events in the world of art, where this relationship is the main object of interest. This work presents and illustrates the turnovers in the contemporary art world and how the role of the audience is emphasized. It deals with the form of contemporary art that has led to these turnovers and represents factors that have influenced this form. In the work there are presented mainly the factors influencing the form of contemporary art, which influenced the demands on the audience. Attention is then devoted to the philosophical origins of the studied relationship and in the essay there are presented the basics of its exploration at Plato and Aristotle. The main theoretical centre of the studied relationship, however, is aesthetic cognitivism, which is thoroughly presented in the work. Gilles Deleuze "on" Chris Marker: Imaginary Rendezvous

Despite the fact that the French philosopher Gilles Deleuze has included many contemporaries, co-workers and friends of Chris Marker in his controversial writings on film, Marker himself is missing among the analyzed filmmakers. This thesis challenges the supposed passiveness between both authors assuming certain intersections between their thoughts, aiming to look at several of Chris Marker's emblematic films - indeed not comprehensively, rather naturally subjectively - through the key themes from some of Gilles Deleuze's books. Animal and Play

The main aim of this work is to examine Fink's concept of play with regard to animals, or the justification of his thesis that animals do not play. The work is divided into three parts. The first one deals with the Fink's concept of play. The key concept in this section is "play world". The chapter is concluded by the analysis of the structural moments of the play world. The second part presents the game in the current ethology and definition of the game at Burghardt. The chapter also deals with the greatest problems of ethological exploration, such as anthropomorphism and consciousness and thought of animals. The results of contemporary etological research and their comparison with the structural moments of play at Fink's concept are presented at the end. The third part offers a philosophical reflection and sketching other possible ways for thinking about play. The work provides clear analysis of Fink's concept of play and an overview of the results of contemporary ethological explorations. The comparison shows that we cannot deny animals play as such, but also more complex relationship to the world. Thus play offers new possibilities of the problem of human-animal difference.
What Do We Do When We Walk?

In short, this thesis presents walking as absent thinking. It constructs one situation via deconstruction of scores of spectacles. To stage this thought as a dialogue: What do we do when we walk? We seem to be thinking. If I would be, in subsequent conversation, asked about the scientific merit of this thesis, I would reply - at once politely, providing pointers for orientation, and provocatively, raising a deliberate red flag to incite attention - that it successfully demonstrates the applicability of Benjamin's ideas of messianic communism and turning art into philosophy and, against Plato's intentions, the unity of Plato's philosophy.
