Ecology in Diapers Return to cloth diapers as a step forward?
Stehlíková, Tereza ; Jakoubková Budilová, Lenka (advisor) ; Kolářová, Marta (referee)
In my thesis, I have covered interviews with ten women - mothers who have decided to use for their babies a changing system of modern cloth diapers. For the topic I have used a qualitative sociological research strategy. The purpose of the received data from the interviews was to answer questions about motivations and reasons for the usage of this type of nappies and decide what benefits they see in them. As our society is used to disposable baby diapers and looks at them as a norm, I was interested in people's reactions, which these mothers have faced and how they have coped with. Finally, I have tried to find out the role of the internet and the social media in this matter. The theoretical part is devoted to the history of cloth and disposable diapers. There I have put into the context the issue of cloth diapers with the principles of sustainable development and responsible consumption. In the practical part I have carried out an analysis of ten semi-structured interviews with mothers who have been using cloth diapers for babies, along with examples of expressions of activities associated with cloth diapers in social media on the internet.

Kolářová, Marta ; Jančaříková, Kateřina (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
Starting point. Voluntary simplicity is a form of lifestyle. Its typical feature is selection intensity in all areas of human life. Severity of voluntary simplicity lies in self-control of consumer behavior in the daily confrontation with the media pressure, which is oriented at a high rate of consumption. The task of this thesis was to find out if people raised in voluntarily simple families keep living this way, or if they turned away from this lifestyle and joined the high consumption society. Methods and results. Research included 40 respondents who met the requirement that voluntary simplicity was part of their upbringing. Addressed were people from alternatively living groups (preppers, ecovillages, macrobiotics, minimalists, forums dedicated to maternal education and child care, and other groups possessing forums on an alternative way of life of voluntary simplicity). The investigation was conducted by a questionnaire which was distributed electronically among respondents. We found that 13 out of 40 respondents (32,5 %) fully met our stated profile of voluntary simplicity. Relative frequency of responses from all respondents that meet the requirements of modest behavior amounted to 74,3 %. Hypothesis H1 predicted that the influence of upbringing in a voluntary simplicity will make respondents prefer...

Myth called American high school
Zelená, Lucie ; Šmídová, Olga (advisor) ; Kolářová, Marta (referee)
Bachelors thesis "Myth called American high school" deals with an issue of high school studies in the United States of America from the perspective of Czechs who have experienced it in real terms. The main focus is on the hidden curriculum including knowledge, skills and attitudes which pupils learn even though this matter is not explicitly defined. In general terms it is possible to talk about a cultural transmission as it also includes values transferred from the teacher to the pupils. Hidden curriculum arises from the actual teaching style, the teachers' approach and the things being valued and encouraged the most. Less emphasis is then put on the officially declared curriculum with respect to the content of knowledge. The subject of study primarily includes social relations and interactions among people involved in the schooling environment, in which the informal rules of cooperation and coexistence are shaped. Strategies and types of authority which teachers assert when dealing with deviant behavior are being described, as well as the definition of deviant behavior from teacher perspective. Secondly, the study covers the structure of the class work with emphasis being put on the space devoted to different persons involved. At last, various types of lesson activities on which pupils participate...

This paper is a research report about qualitative research which deals with the life of sentenced and released persons. It describes programmes and specific aid which participate in social rehabilitation of these persons. I suggest possible improvements of social inclusion by studying cases concerning imprisoned and released persons and institutions that work with them. Organizations and institutions that work with these people aim at their inclusion in society, at detecting and removing difficulties in unsuccessful integration. The bases of this analysis are interviews, statistics, annual reports, biographies, simple questions in the form of an informal questionnaire, mediated biographies. The aim of this paper is to reveal discrepancies in regarding unsuccessful social integration from the view of institutions and of persons endangered by social exclusion.
