School-age children - argumentation in their moral judgment
Kukal, Jiří ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hříbková, Lenka (referee)
The thesis is based upon the theoretical foundations of the Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget. The theoretical part thoroughly introduces Piaget's theories in relation to the works of his follower Lawrence Kohlbeg and later critics. The theme of the thesis is a research of the moral judgment of school-age children, specifically, in relation to Piaget, mapping the transition from the argumentation of responsibilities of objective consequences to the argumentation of responsibilities of subjective intentions. A set of six pairs of moral stories has been used as the means of the research. The stories were told to 53 children and short interviews followed. A part of the stories came from Piaget, the other part consisted of newly-constructed stories featuring a very substantial material loss. The main object of the research was the possible coordination of viewpoints of objective and subjective responsibility in relation to the extreme material loss contained within the stories. The research also focused on the different ratios of answers based on objective and subjective responsibility in connection with the age of the child. Key words: moral development, justice, moral judgment
Under six years old childrens admission to primary school
Musilová, Monika ; Hříbková, Lenka (advisor) ; Kucharská, Anna (referee)
Vstup nešestiletých dětí do ZŠ 1 Monika Musilová Abstract The aim of the theoretical part is to find out, how the literature deals with the fact of under six years old children entering school. The literature findings are confronted with the empirical dates, which were obtained from interviews with children, parents and teachers having experience with the early school entering. Interviews were made with two families. We found that in both cases, the main reason for the early entry was the interest of children in reading. Parents were also worried that the chidren would be bored at school.. The interviews also showed that this choice is strictly individual and requires a comprehensive assessment of many aspects.
Origins of musical intelligence: development of musical abalities in preschool age
Sedláčková, Alžběta ; Hříbková, Lenka (advisor) ; Trpišovská, Dobromila (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on musical abilities of preschool children. Within this thesis a cross section examination in kindergarten was realized, where the progress in developement of musical abilities of preschool children was examined, as well as differences between girls and boys in this area. Also the connections between musical environment at children's family and their musical abilities were examined. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical part and the empirical part. The theoretical part discourses about musical abilities, which were examined in investigation, and about developement of musical abilities with special emphasis on preschool age. The empirical part focuses at first on description of the research that was carried out (for example: description of the method for examining musical abilities, characterization of the participants). Acquired data are then presented and finally the data are analyzed. Means of the children's scores in the test of music abilities are compared according to various conditions (according age, gender and musical environment in the family). The scores are also compared with the statistic methods.
Psychological intervention for mothers of premature newborns
Matoušová, Milada ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor) ; Horáková Hoskovcová, Simona (referee) ; Hříbková, Lenka (referee)
The disertation thesis focuses on the problem of premature delivery and the effect of a premature newborn on his parents' mental state and feelings. In particular, mothers of premature infants usually experience premature delivery in a very negative way. It is a difficult life situation, which increases demands on both parents, respectively on the whole family. The level of immaturity and medical condition of the premature child significantly affect and violate the natural contact and the early parent-child interaction, which in turn affects the development of their relationship. The consequences of the premature birth for parents and children may last very long, because the immaturity at birth carries a risk of health problems for the whole life. Medical care of premature newborns in the Czech Republic is at the high level and statistical indicators of this specialized care are at the top. In order to archive the best results, excelent medical care for premature infants must be completed by specialised psychological support and assistance given to the parents and whole families. Key words: risk pregnancy, premature delivery, prenatal development, limit of viability, premature newborn, early interaction, breastfeeding, child care

Moral judgment of the younger school children
Šeráková, Barbora ; Klusák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Hříbková, Lenka (referee)
Anyone who has ever had the opportunity to observe small children when playing or learning something new or telling something and anyone who has ever had the op- portunity to talk to them must have noticed the children sometimes treat the reality around them in a strange way. These are the funny moments when one is surprised what children think and how they treat logic. As though small children lived in an odd world where the rules of logic are completely different. The famous Swiss psy- chologist noticed this peculiar children's thinking and described the intellectual egocentrism in children of preschool and early school age. Egocentrism does not affect only the children's logical thinking but also other aspects of children's think- ing and experience. This special "setting" of children's minds can be observed when the children are playing, in children's communication, in their drawings or in chil- dren's moral judgement. In the field of children's morals Piaget spoke of the moral realism. Under the influence of moral realism children when morally judging the moral situations presented to them do not concentrate on the essential elements of the story but rather on irrelevant circumstances such as material results of an action and other outside matters. According to Piaget it is essential for...
School Achievement Motivation
Smolová, Alžběta ; Pavelková, Isabella (advisor) ; Hříbková, Lenka (referee)
The thesis is focused on the issue of school achievement motivation. It is an empirical work. The theoretical part of thesis introduces the concept of school achievement motivation based on the general concept of achievement motivation (e.g. Atkinson's and Heckhausen's model of achievement motivation), which is introduced at the beginning of the theoretical part. Forming of school achievement needs is emphasized within the concept of school achievement motivation. The last chapter presents the previous research works on achievement needs creating a connection to the empirical part. The purpose of the empirical part of the thesis is to explore achievement needs of pupils of upper primary school and determine whether these needs are differentiated. The results of research indicate that in connection with the development of achievement motivation initially generalized achievement needs differentiate within the school subjects. The need to avoid failure differentiates less in comparison with the need to achieve success. Differences in the achievement needs related to the age, gender, English speaking and English non speaking classes are discussed as well. Keywords: school achievement motivation, differentiation, upper primary school, need to achieve success, need to avoid failure
Analysis of subject matter in textbook of Czech language for 8th grades of basic school from the viewpoint of the cognitive demands on students
Milčáková, Jitka ; Hříbková, Lenka (advisor) ; Rendl, Miroslav (referee)
anglicky The aim of this thesis is to analyze cognitive demands of one thematic area in the most used textbook of Czech language for 8th grades of secondary schools, particularly in the field of morphology in the textbook from The Fraus publishing House. Four criteria were chosen to assess the cognitive demands of tasks presented in the textbook. Two of them were theoretical (Bloom's taxonomy of cognitive objectives and verbal subtests of selected intelligence tests) and the other two criteria were empirical (pupil's results from our compiled test and a teacher's opinion). The final findings may be a stimulus for further analysis and became a contribution to textbook authors.
