Deterrence in counter-terrorism: the case of Nigeria

To assess the effectiveness of deterrence measures, we adopt data from the Global Terrorism Index (GTI). The GTI provides comprehensive assessments of trends and patterns of terrorism across different regions and countries and offers a framework for evaluating the effectiveness of counter- terrorism strategies. Our analysis will evaluate the impact of deterrence measures on reducing terrorist activities in Nigeria and identify the key factors that contribute to the success or failure of deterrence. This study's findings will be of significant interest to policymakers, security experts, and the broader Counter-terrorism has been a critical issue in Nigeria over the last decade, with terrorist groups such as Boko Haram posing a significant threat to the country's security and stability. In response, the Nigerian government has implemented various strategies, including deterrence, to combat this menace. Accounting Directives for Local Government Unit

This bachelor thesis deals with employee benefits provided in the state administration sector on the basis of an internal directive. The theoretical part introduces us to the basics of HR, motivation, the remuneration system, employee benefits and their accounting and tax aspects. Subsequently, we will take a look at the sources of financing, especially for personal costs in the public sector. The next part will be devoted to individual benefits provided in the investigated institution and a comparison with surrounding institutions of the same level. The last part is focused on recommending changes, for the specific municipal ofiice under investigation, based on the current situation, employee satisfaction, options according to the law.

The thesis deals with the topic of electronicisation of public administration. The author describes the system of electronic public administration in Austria and the Czech Republic and then compares the degree of electronization in both countries. For the comparison, data from the annual survey of the European Commission was used and then the author herself created a list of functions for the citizen portal to compare. The first data was compared using the benchmark method and for the second comparison the author created a scoring matrix. The comparison focuses mainly on the area of data usage across the different public administration portals and the quality of service of the citizen portal. The thesis also includes a proposal for measures to improve the efficiency of the electronicisation of public administration. The proposals focused on the implementation of artificial intelligence, process automation and popularisation of the citizen portal.
Dispute over the appointment of Jan Lipavský as Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Bachelor thesis focuses on the dispute over the appointment of Jan Lipavský as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic between the President Miloš Zeman and the designated Prime Minister Petr Fiala in December 2021. This case is put into a context of similar previous events during the presidency of Václav Havel and Václav Klaus. The aim of this thesis is to examine the argumentation behind Zeman's previous rejections or objections to the nominated ministers. Also, it is focused on describing the main types of argumentations and the way in which the last case of rejection of the Czech Pirate Party nominee Lipavský responds to them. It is through both broader and narrower contexts that this thesis explores Zeman's justification for the refusal of this candidate. The research shows that Zeman's reasoning in this case mostly corresponds to the main types of his previous argumentations. This thesis also deals in detail with the process leading to the appointment of Jan Lipavský and the government of Petr Fiala. It includes both the professional political-science and constitutional-legal discussion, as well as the public discussion which arose from Zeman's refusal to appoint Lipavský and mostly disagreed with his move. The theme of the thesis "Human rights in the times of coronavirus" is an analysis of exceptional situation as coronavirus pandemic which occurred on the territory of the Czech republic in years 2020 to 2022 and its range and impact represented a completely unprecedented exceptional situation. In connection with that, crisis legislation was used to an unseen extent, showing its drawbacks, in some cases amplified by the approach of the crisis management bodies and public health protection authorities. The aim of this thesis is to analyse crisis legislation, approach of the crisis management bodies and public health protection authorities during the covid-19 pandemic. To provide a comprehensive representation, an outline of the course of the pandemic on the territory of the Czech Republic is given in the initial part of the thesis, whereas approach of the bodies and authorities mentioned above was directly linked to this. Confidence in constitutional institutions and satisfaction with political situation - September/November of 2022

In the period from the first half of September to the beginning of November of 2022 within the regular survey the Public Opinion Research Centre questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this survey there was a question about their trust to the Chambers of Parliament, the President, the Government, and Local and Regional Councils.\n33% of Czechs trust the president, 28% trust the government.\nThe Chamber of Deputies has the confidence of 28% and the Senate of 34% of the public.\n13% of Czech citizens declare satisfaction with political situation, 62% are dissatisfied.
The Current State of Research in State and Higher Education System Relationship

The purpose of the study is to fill the existing gap in the field of systemic higher education governance which is a lack of systematic and structured literature review of peer-reviewed articles. The objective is to analyze the relationship between the state and the higher education system. In other words, what are the different types of systemic governance models, and what are the instruments used by the government to control the higher education sector? The method of Systematic Literature Review is used to review over forty research articles on systemic higher education governance. PRISMA protocol was adopted to conduct a Systematic Literature Review. Findings show that higher education governance is moving towards marketization. However, the trend is neither universal nor straightforward. The role of the state in the higher education system is dominant and will remain so because even marketization in countries is steered tightly by the state. Kurdistan Regional Government: Internal Constrains and Failed Quest for Independence

Since 2003, Iraq went into a significant shift of political authority in which many political parties fighting for leadership failed to keep peace in the region; however, for many - like ruling parties in Kurdistan Region of Iraq - a golden compass was in the pot to gain more authority high political positions in the region. The new Iraqi Constitution recognized KRG as an autonomous entity of Iraq, and Kurdish politicians were taking high political positions within the new Iraqi government. Despite these achievements, the political instability post-Iraq War remained and was shaped by internal factors like security, economy, and unresolved issues over disputed territories. Regional and international interventions also had a hand in these internal conflicts. For Kurdistan Regional Government, the question of Kurdish statehood never dissipated. The internal political setting post-2010 provided an environment of possible Kurdish statehood - or at least as the Kurdish leaders anticipated.
