Changing Public Opinion in Finland on NATO Membership in the Context of the Ukrainian Crisis
Kratinová, Dominika ; Plechanovová, Běla (advisor) ; Knutelská, Viera (referee)
Finland is nowadays a prosperous Nordic country, a member of the European Union, supporter of the EU-Russian relations and is one of the most developed economies in the world. Finland still has a unique role in maintaining friendly relations with Russia and therefore we can assume that Finland does not pursue NATO membership, because it would most definitely be perceived as threatening by the Russians. The Ukrainian crisis changed views of many people on Russian foreign relations and made the public, politicians and entire countries question what is Russia capable of and whether it should be perceived as a threat. Because of the Ukrainian Crisis, opinions in Finland are changing and developing and the NATO membership is seen from a brand new perspective and the much treasured policy of nonalignment is being reconsidered as well. That is the issue that I am going to research and examine in this thesis. I will describe changes in public opinion on NATO membership and general safety of Finland, because this public opinion has varied over the last decade and the Ukrainian crisis was the reason for these changes. In order to find answers to these issues, I performed a complex analysis of information coming from several sources, as well as results of research of public opinion and interviews with Finnish...

Khodorenko, Yuliya ; Králová, Tereza (advisor) ; Půbalová, Kateřina (referee)
In this thesis I would like to present the differences in the work of managers in two different countries. I will focus on the opinion of managers from the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation. What do they think about proffessional and personal development, and how do they approach their own development. Moreover, I will try to research, what skills and personal traits are needed in the management field. I also wanted to find out, if there is any difference between the points of view of russian and czech managers on creativity, and if the role of an international manager differs from the role of a manager not working in a multicultural environment.

Kuzmenko, Elena ; Maitah, Mansoor (advisor) ; Smutka, Luboš (referee)
Recent years a lot of debates have been taking place around Russias dependence on natural resources, especially on crude oil and natural gas, and consequent necessity to escape from it through diversification of the Russian economy. The research problem of the present doctoral thesis therefore is to investigate whether Russia demonstrates any success in this process or not. The main goal of the thesis is to analyze Russian economic performance along with Russian producers (representing corresponding economic sectors) relative position towards foreign rivals in external and internal markets and via investigation of the real effective exchange rate of ruble and quality of Russian institutions shed some light on the presence of Natural resource curse phenomenon in the Russian economy. The analysis of Russian economic performance in the light of competitiveness was seen as justified since the results of that analysis may reveal the existence of perspective points of growth in the economy. In the final stage of the research the existence of a long-run interrelationship was checked among the structure of Russian export basket, GDP growth, price of crude oil and the real effective exchange rate of Russian ruble with the use of Johansen cointegration technique.

Russian position in the international trade and its influence on real economy
Abdullin, Denis ; Štěrbová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Bolotov, Ilya (referee)
International trade and competitiveness of domestic producers on the international market are very important factors for a further economic development. Country's trade structure determines its resistance to external shocks, which threaten domestic economy. Diversification gains a lot in importance lately. The existence of more industries, which are able to withstand tough competition with foreign firms is a cornerstone of economic development. Diversification is a key determinant for Russian economy due to a greater dependency on the export of raw materials, especially crude oil. These macroeconomic links can be shown by different econometric tools. Problems with excessive dependency on oil export can be detected by means of empiric analysis.

FDI flows and Russian Federation since 1991
Abdullin, Denis ; Kalínská, Emílie (advisor) ; Bolotov, Ilya (referee)
Foreign direct investments are very vital for all modern economies, making the world economy move and develop. Every country, that is trying to increase its potential and achieve economic growth, must make an important effort to attract inward investments and of course invest in other countries, archiving even more profit. Greatest receivers and supplier of FDI are USA, Western European countries, China and Japan in Asia. My final thesis is focusing on the Russian Federation as a receiver and also as an investor. Even though Russia`s economy is one of the biggest, investments to this country are not too crucial as in developed market economies. In my thesis I am making an overview of Russian economy and history, finishing with the analysis of inward and outward streams of FDI in Russia, policies of investment projects in Russia, investment potential of Russian regions.

Does Russia suffer from Dutch disease?
Zanikov, Konstantin ; Babin, Jan (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to determine, whether we can detect symptoms of the so-called Dutch disease in the case of Russia. The Dutch disease is a concept, which tries to explain why countries possessing vast amounts of natural resources register relatively slower rates of economic growth -- a phenomenon known as the paradox of plenty. The Dutch disease is present in the economy in the form of the following symptoms: the real appreciation of the exchange rate, the growth of a non-traded economic sector, the growth of real wages and the decline of the manufacturing sector. In the case of Russia I can confirm the absolute presence of the first two and the partial presence of the third one. In the section concerning econometrics I constructed a model, which describes and analyzes the Russian real effective exchange rate. The prices of oil, the reserves of the central bank and the Balassa-Samuelson effect were proven to be significant. From the perspective of the country's de-industrialization, however, we cannot claim, that Russia "suffers" from Dutch disease.

Secondary prepositions (in Russian-Czech-Ukrainian context)
Řezníčková, Veronika ; Lendělová, Věra (advisor)
The prepositions, as a word class, is not uniquely determined. Some linguists consider the preposition as a particular morpheme, some others as an auxiliary, not fully significant word class, some linguists do not regard the preposition as a word at all. The prepositions, from the formal point of view, can be divided into primary and secondary and, depending on the number of their components, into one-verbal and multi-verbal prepositions. The secondary prepositions are further divided by the majority of linguists into adnominal, adverbal and adverbial, however some linguists speak of adadjectival instead of adverbial prepositions. The lexical meaning of prepositions is analysed in different theories, we are of the opinion that the preposition has a lexical meaning. This fact has been proved by I. K. Kutcherenko (10), and we have verified his theory in the practical part of our dissertation. We have focused on the semantic nuances of chosen causal secondary prepositions, collocates, which are the most frequently used with prepositions, and also the frequency of causal prepositions. Depending on a given context, prepositions can change their lexical meaninig and can be replaced by synonymous equivalent terms. Using examples from Russian and Czech national corpus, and also from Russian, Czech and to a limited...

Foreign Direct Investment and Economy of Russian Federation (since the middle of the 90s until now)
