Individualized support of pupils with ASD in education

This diploma thesis is focuses on the individualization of the education of pupils with autism spectrum disorder in the education. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis describes and defines autism spectrum disorders, nemely chilhood autism, atypical autism, Asperger's and Rett's syndrome and disintigration disorder in childhood. The theoretical part od the work is also focused on the principles and methods used in the education of pupils with ASD. The theoretical part also describes support measures that are closely related to the education of students with autism spectrum disorders. The practical part of this diploma thesis is focused mainly on the education of pupils with ASD in compulsory distance education, which occurred as a result of the epidemic of the spread of COVID-19. Development of communication of skills of children with autism spectrum disorder

The bachelors thesis is of a special pedagogical character focusing on speech therapy. It deals with the development of communication skills in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The thesis goal is to introduce ASD issue; communication in general and with regard to people with ASD and with augmentative and alternative communication. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. The first part defines autism spectrum disorders, deals briefly with the causes, division and diagnosis. The second part describes communication as such, speech development and impaired communication skills. The third part deals with communication of people with autism spectrum disorders, speech development and these people communication specifics. It also mentions the possibilities offered by augmentative and alternative communications. The thesis deals with the setting of functional communication using the Picture Exchange Communication System method at people with autism spectrum disorder through individual levels of education and is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The key terms explaining the problematic of autism, significance of communication and education of people with autism spectrum disorder introduces the theoretical part which is split into a few areas. The main overarching is the Picture Exchange Communications System methods which compensates the disorder in communication of an individual with autism spectrum disorder either temporarily or permanently. Furthermore, based on the interviews with participants in the educational process, the thesis analyzes the application of the method and cooperation of the individual educational institutions but also parents. In the empirical part are the interviews complemented by the case study which completes the whole picture of research problem in question. The formation of social relationships accompanies us throughout our lives and are a source of satisfaction. While social interactions bring joy to healthy children, children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder bring such interactions to an unknown territory filled with uncertainty and distress. The social domain is an interrelated system consisting of several areas. If a child does not understand one or more areas, she will not function correctly during human-to-human interactions. Areas that help a child acquire appropriate social skills include cognitive, perceptual, motor, and emotional abilities. Consequently, it is only appropriate to focus on such areas during social skills training to achieve the best possible outcomes. Children with autism spectrum disorder in Kladno region

This diploma thesis is devoted to the issue of education of children and pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in the Kladno region. In its theoretical part, it reveals the history of the study of this serious disability, describes the manifestations of behavior in individual diagnoses in the field of communication, socialization, social interaction, speech development, imagination, play. It briefly introduces the issue of diagnostics and multilateral interventions. The practical part is devoted to a qualitative survey, which aims to describe how the education, pedagogical, psychological and social intervention, goes in specific cases in Kladno region. Three case studies of boys aged 13, 14 and 17 show how they face their health problems, their educational difficulties, what types of schools they are educated at, what they have achieved. They see their future in a simplistic and sometimes naive way, yet it can be concluded that they want to work somewhere, to be independent and self-sufficient. The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of professional skills of effective communication of police officers from the Liberec regional department with a person with autism spectrum disorder. The author especially found out how much these police officers are informed about specific communication with the target group and how they assess their competencies in this area. Communication abilities of pupils with autism in the Czech Republic and Great Britain

The special educational needs teaching practice varies in many European countries. From the Czech Republic with its strictly differentiated Special Educational Needs framework which belongs under the Special Education, to Great Britain that has great inclusive policies and differentiates the National Curriculum according to each pupil learning needs. During my work experience within special education needs teaching practice in Great Britain and the Czech Republic I have observed the benefits of each system. I would like to share the experience so I have narrowed my interested to the pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and their communication skills. To find the right communication approach is the crucial point in education of pupils with autistic spectrum disorder. In course of five years I have been observing six different pupils with autistic spectrum disorder based in various special schools in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. I have noted which communication approaches were chosen at the beginning of their school entrance and how it influenced their success in the learning subject of Jazyk a jazyková komunikace and English.
