Analysis of stylistic features in English and Czech radio debates
Neubauerová, Alena ; Dušková, Libuše (advisor) ; Malá, Markéta (referee)
This MA thesis focuses on the stylistically marked features that occur in an English radio debate called Any Questions? aired by BBC - Radio 4 and a Czech radio debate called Speciál Martina Veselovského aired on Český rozhlas 1 - Radiožurnál. Stylistically marked features are restricted to certain kinds of social context: in the case of this thesis, it is two radio debates broadcast by public service media. Those linguistics features that are considered stylistically marked in the two debates are identified on the morphological, syntactical and lexical level, and classified into categories based upon a view of their functions. Subsequently, they are described as standard or nonstandard. Some of the features found are shared by both debates. However, some are, due to the different language systems concerned, symptomatic of only one of the languages. The difference between the English and the Czech stylistically marked features is also revealed as to the frequency of their occurrence. Finally, the conclusions about the level of informality of the two debates are drawn.

Czech television and czech radio in the perspective of the PSM model: a case study
Obrovský, Petr ; Železný, Jakub (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
The master thesis describes the development of Czech Television and Czech Radio be- tween 2005 and 2012, focusing on media policy, technology, content and attitude to the audience. It applies research output of the RIPE initiative as a theoretical basis for col- lection and interpretation of the data. RIPE, which links academia with media profes- sionals worldwide, aiming to redefine the public service remit for the 21st century, sug- gests that the political, economic, technological and social context has fundamentally changed in the last two or three decades. As a result, the original concept of public ser- vice broadcasting, established in Western Europe after the Second World War, has lost its legitimacy. It is therefore necessary for public service broadcasters (PSB) to trans- form into public service media (PSM). This means diversifying modes of distribution to new technologies besides traditional broadcasting, setting mechanisms of two-way and interactive communication with the audience, producing multimedia content exploitable on various platforms and clearly defining and justifying the value added of their offer- ings compared to those of commercial competitors. Using the method of case study, the thesis matches this conceptual framework with the situation in Czech Television and Czech...

The development and transformation of broadcasting programms for youth radio in cr (1992-2010)
Ouřadová, Anna ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Maršík, Josef (referee)
This work gives a comprehensive look on talk programmes for the young in the offer of Czech Radio since 1992 to present. It focuses on characteristics of talk programmes for the young across stations of Czech Radio (2, 3 and 6) and a summary of talk programmes of station for the young Radio Wave. The offer of talk programmes for the young since 1992 to present shows that Czech Radio since its inception deals with insufficient or imbalanced filling of the Act, which obliges Czech Radio in relation to young listeners. Its current offer could be considered sufficient but certainly not balanced. Prevailing journalistic talk programmes for the young tend to expand their field of interest but on the other hand they deal with narrowing range of genres. Programmes Assault (Přepadení) and Demolition (Bourání) prove that talk programmes for the young have the potention to enrich radio production in general with new topics and new forms. But talk programmes for the young of Czech Radio are facing one crucial problem and that is of lack of audience in the age between 15 and 30. Some of necessary steps that will lead to improvement will probably be putting station for the young back to analogue broadcasting and extension of programmess for youth on the internet.
