Choirs in the Life of Church Community
Veverková, Zuzana ; Beneš, Ladislav (advisor) ; Filipi, Pavel (referee)
This bachelor work is focused on development of choral music in Christian communities. It provides the reader with a perspective on its' evolution in different time periods from The Old Testament period through intertestamental period, New Testament, Early Church and historical development from the sixth century through reformation to the twentieth century, where it either focuses on individual contributors to music development (that is musical composers, kings etc.) or conservation of specific artifacts (files, records and writings). This development is then taken into account when evaluating position of music in these time periods and it mentions the occurrence of changes. Next, the paper is interested in the roles of Church and choirs and in fulfillment of these roles. Finally it presents common problems when building a church music program and tries to provide the reader with some solutions to rid of those problems and use an entire potential of music programs that they offer. It also focuses on the presence of choral music and faith in the mentioned time periods and gives supporting evidence on the produced hypotheses with the help of used literature. Faith and its' connection to choral music is a protagonist of this work and is given a fair amount of attention in regard to either development...

Dance - Body - Word
Králíková, Kateřina ; Heczková, Libuše (advisor) ; Vojvodík, Josef (referee)
The diploma thesis Dance - Body - Word deals with the philosophical and literary contexts of expressive dance. The research is based on the ideas of Friedrich Nietzsche followed by the dance programme of dancer Isadora Duncan. The transformation of the use of dance and the concept of corporeality is shown on the example of two literary works from the early 20th century and the late 1920s. The analysis of the prose by Růžena Svobodová looks for a possible connection with Duncan's and Nietzsche's concepts as well as for the connection between dance and literary ornament. The poetist book of poems Abeceda represents an interconnection of poetry, typography and dance photography. In this part of the research, the body is defined as a place of diverse concepts and imported contents. To illuminate these points of interest, the thesis employs the theory of performativity dealing with the forced gender performance.

The data were provided by the World Bank for the period of from 1989 to 2014. The objective of the thesis is to enlighten the factors which are influencing the changes in income inequality.

The depiction of the interpretation of Mihály Babits's novel A Gólyakalifa
Radoňová, Lucie ; Kolmanová, Simona (advisor) ; Grendel, Lajos (referee)
This thesis explores the main important possibilities of interpretations of the Mihaly Babits's novel "A Gólyakalifa". I was interested in discovering the view the author takes and the main influences that affect him during the creation of this novel. The central part of the study comprises analyse of the novel "A Gólyakalifa". Than I am trying to explain the composition of the task. Considering the questions of the setout of time and place, the shape of dispatching, the structure of the text. In the next part I am trying to confront the novel with one task from the Hungarian and one task from the world's literature. I have chosen to focus in my dissertation Oscar Wilde's book called The picture of Dorian Gray and Kosztolányi Dezs's novel Esti Kornél. In both of mentioned novels we can find a resemblance with Kalif's world, based on using the alter ego's world. An alter ego is a second self, a second personality or persona within a person, who is often oblivious to the persona's actions. It was coined in the early nineteenth century when dissociative identity disorder was first described by psychologists. A person with an alter ego is said to lead a double life. It is more than evident that Mihaly Babits was impressed with Sigmund Freud's new theory about dream interpretations. So that is why I am including...

The baroque Waldsteine in Bohemia (1640-1740)
Hrbek, Jiří ; Maur, Eduard (advisor) ; Petráň, Josef (referee) ; Vlnas, Vít (referee)
My thesis describes the evolution of the Waldstein clan in the age of one hundred years after the Thirty Years War. Both termini which I have chosen (1640 and 1740) are not exactly kept because of logic of my constructions. I aspire to commit an integrated and compact view of activities of Waldstein clan, which belonged to an aristocratic class through its property, political power and an amount of social relations. It was one of the most famous and most powerful family structures in early modern Bohemia and in the whole Habsburg monarchy as well. My method combines a lot of approaches including biography (prosopography) and structure analysis. I want to inquire the relations between the Waldstein family and the changing social and political structures, in which they acted. The first part concerns stories of the personalities growing from the clan, their activities in the frame of early modern state and its administration. In the time of 17th and 18th centuries, this activity was connected with the fealty to the ruler and the service for the ruler was an essential assumption for making the career. As courtiers, diplomats and officers, the Waldsteine came up to expectations of their estate. The models of aristocratic careers I have related to the life cycle and I have described the making of...

Stereotypical Depictions of African Americans on American Film
Žáčková, Julie ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (advisor) ; Veselá, Pavla (referee)
THESIS ABSTRACT Stereotypical Depictions of African Americans on American Film As far as the history of American "moving images" reaches, there have always been African American characters on screen. However, it was already in one of the earliest movies, D.W. Griffith's The Birth of a Nation, that they were portrayed as stereotypical types. Mostly played by white actors with their faces painted black, they were absolutely one-sided and evoking laughter, mockery and even disgust. It is, indeed, Griffith who is until today seen as the originator of stereotypical types on film. All the "basic" stereotypes appeared in his film: the "Mammy", the "Coon", or the "Tragic Mulatta" and marked the beginning of such portrayals of African Americans in movies. In the history of Hollywood studios production, the stereotypes were used over and over, some were reinvented and even new ones emerged. This proved to be an impulse to African American filmmakers who reacted by producing their own film projects, striving to create heroes of their own, heroes that they could look up to in movie theaters. Blaxploitation was the genre that introduced such characters. The wave of African American-produced films continued in the early 1990s. After the enormous box office success of John Singleton's Boyz N the Hood, moviegoers craved...

Her literary career continues until these days. In the Introduction part the reasons why our interest is aimed at Lenka Procházková in the first place are being described. Characterization of mice with constitutively active Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway in lens
Antošová, Barbora ; Kozmik, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Pavlínková, Gabriela (referee)
Lens development and differentiation are strictly regulated processes. Various disturbances of these processes can lead to vision-limiting pathologies. The vertebrate lens is composed of epithelial cells and terminally differentiated fiber cells. Differentiation of fiber cells is connected with expression of fiber cell specific proteins (such as crystallins), cell cycle exit, and finally with the degradation of cell nucleus and organelles. Wnt/β-catenin signaling plays important roles during early eye development as well as later during the lens differentiation. To investigate the consequences of constitutive activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in lens fiber cells transgenic mouse strain, called CLEF, was created. Constitutive activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in fiber cells of CLEF mouse is achieved by transgenic protein CLEF that contains C-terminal activation domain of β-catenin fused to the amino terminus of full-length protein Lef1. The expression of CLEF transgene is under the control of αA-crystallin promoter. As a result of constitutive activation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in fiber cells, adult CLEF mice develop cataracts and microphthalmia, and the morphology of adult mutant lenses is disrupted. Transgenic CLEF mRNA is expressed starting from E13.5 and by E16.5 transgenic CLEF protein is...
