Analysis of Biblical Texts Using the Grid-Group Method and Its Application to the First Epistle to the Corinthians
Oudová Holcátová, Barbara ; Chlup, Radek (advisor) ; Halík, Tomáš (referee)
In her book Natural Symbols (1970), the British anthropologist Mary Douglas discussed the question of why and how are certain trans-cultural religious phenomena combined into different systems of understanding the world. She sought the answer in various types of social situations in which the systems of ideas are formulated, and tried to analyze them using two variables, "group" (the amount in which certain group's borders are defined in contrast with the rest of the society) and "grid" (the amount in which the role of an individual in society is determined and in which the individual's system of classification is shared by others or determined by them). These two variables enable us to sort different religious cosmologies depending on what ideals they paint in these respects and what demands they make of an individual. Mary Douglas compares this theoretical concept with existing cultures, assesses how similar their cosmologies are in respect of these two points of view, and examines whether there are matching social arrangements, norms of action and the like. On one hand, she enables us to put otherwise isolated cultural phenomena in an overall frame of meaning, on the other hand the application of this approach to religious ideas opens many possibilities of finding connections between religions in the...

Group dynamics of school class
Kozel, Martin ; Soukup, Petr (advisor) ; Kotík, Michal (referee)
This work focuses on clasroom group dynamics and it's aim is to develop a comprehensive concept (model), which will be able to explain the socio-psychological processes within the class. It could be used for diagnostic purposes (measurement) and intervention. The author first defines the group dynamics as a field of forces aiming to reach goals, or preventing their fulfillment. Based on three sources of literature (research of small groups, pedagogical understanding of group dynamics and psychoterapeutiacl understanding of group dynamics) the author describes all reflected forces in group dynamics. Based on in-depth interviews with seven experts,he creates seven different perspectives on the context and choses the key forces of the group dynamics. By a synthesis of the information sources, the author creates the final model. It's validity due to data and potential future use is discussed.

Pavlíček, Ondřej ; Toman, Petr (advisor) ; Zídková, Hana (referee)
The master´s thesis deals with the value added tax in the area of fixed establishment. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part of the thesis defines the concept of fixed establishment and key EU legislations by which fixed establishments are governed. I investigate practical aspects and problems created by fixed establishment. The second part of the thesis includes a complex analysis of the actual judgments of the European Court of Justice, and their treatment of issues arising from the relationship between fixed establishment and their head office. The thesis shows the difficulties within application of VAT on intercompany transactions in cases where the fixed establishment is a member of the group for the purposes of value added tax.

Furthermore, the work presents the most common forms of organized crime and institutions such used to fight both nationally and internationally. Finally, there is outlined the situation in the Czech Republic and those groups that are in our country most often perpetrated by organized crime now. The context was given to data obtained from the content analysis of the largest number of articles of particular forms of organized crime and was compared with interviews carried out by experts estimates and research. The result was that the data corresponds with 2/3 and the only major difference became violent organized crime, which occurred in a number of articles on second place, but it is no longer among the most frequent activities of organized groups in the Czech Republic.
Process of gravidity in female western lowland gorilla Gorilla gorilla gorilla reared in human care
Kocmánek, Lukáš ; Masopustová, Renata (advisor) ; Dokoupilová, Adéla (referee)
Taxonomic system is currently open and evolves based on new findings in genetics. There are currently two recognized species of gorillas (Gorilla gorilla and Gorilla beringei). Each of these two species consists of two subspecies. Gorilla gorilla gorilla is on the Red List of Threatened Species (IUCN) classified as Critically Endangered. The main threats to the population of this subspecies are poaching and Ebola. Gorillas are long-lived, slowly reproducing primates with significant sexual dimorphism. Gorilla diet is predominantly folivoric. Western gorillas include in their diet fruits, if available. The social system is polygynous with one dominant male who mates with all the females in his group. Eastern gorillas usually form larger social groups than western gorillas. Differences in reproduction between these species are minimal. Generally, the reproduction of western gorillas is slower. Eastern gorilla infants, unlike western gorillas, face a high risk of infanticide. Wild western lowland gorillas were almost not observed, so there is very little known about the course of reproduction in the wild. Almost all knowledge about their reproduction is based on observings in captivity. Reproduction of gorillas is influenced by many factors, among which are hormonal effects, the composition of the group and its hierarchy, nutrition and more. Historically western lowlan gorillas kept in captivity faced low birth rate. Available data on pregnancy in gorillas are insufficient. Further research is needed. The level of maternal care is one of the key factors crucial for the survival of infants. Maternal behavior is influenced by stress, which may result in inappropriate maternal behavior or possibly its complete absence. Diseases threatening pregnant gorillas are not adequately described. Among the main causes of complications described are inadequate nutrition and stress.
