Czech School Teachers' Responses to Moral Dilemmas Experienced in Integrated Classrooms
Bangura, Ibrahim Richard ; Novosad, Libor (referee) ; Šiška, Jan (advisor)
This dissertation reports findings on the study that was done into how Czech school teachers respond to moral dilemmas experienced while working with children with special education needs in integrated classrooms. The Czech Republic (especially during the period when it was Czechoslovakia) has a very long history and tradition for educating children with disabilities in highly differentiated, segregated, separate and special school settings. The Czech special education system is well developed. However, following the 'Velvet Revolution' of 1989 and the subsequent dissolution of the Czech-Slovakia federation in 1993, a change in the education for children with special education needs was introduced. The preferred system was the integrated education approach. All the children with special education needs must be educated in the mainstream together with non-disabled children. Studies show that teachers generally experience moral dilemmas in their day to day work with children (Sockett, 1993; Oser, 1994; Colnerud, 1997; Tirri, 1999; Tirri & Husu, 2002). However, this is especially pronounced when the children involved are vulnerable children (Tirri & Husu, 2002; Fenstermacher (1986). Majority of the conflict experienced by the Czech teachers were with parents of the children with disabilities. According to...

Intercultural foundations of law on the example of a comparison of ownership
Kolín, Ondřej ; Kühn, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Wintr, Jan (referee)
Ondřej Kolín Resumé: The name of this thesis could be translated as "Comparison of ownership as an example of Intercultural basis of law. " As you can see it is quite a long name and it needs clarification. During reading Leopold Pospíšil's book Antropology of law I was very surprised of how effective and sophisticated Kapauku Papuan's law of land ownership is. In my first work, that was created as a thesis at Faculty of humanities, Charles University, I compared their system of law with system of law in Czech Republic. What really interested me back then was total clarity of their land law - it has fourteen categories of land and each of them contains not only description of the land itself (i.e. jungle, field, road etc.) but also whole legal regulation concerning the land. It is truly fascinating characteristic and I was wondering whether our law, Czech law, has something similar to that. I have been difficult to compare two totally different systems of law but in the end of the day it turned out that Czech law has indeed some land categories that works similarly. It is a forest in the first place, ponds and rivers, and roads where the function is a bit compromised however. After this discovery I was wondering about the law itself. My question was:"Are there some other similarities between our law and...

Occurrence of Obesity in Dependence on Way of Feeding of Clients with Mental Handicap
Škopová, Šárka ; Vodáková, Jitka (referee) ; Hanušová, Jaroslava (advisor)
I conceived my dissertation as a study of inhabitants in institutional care. This study is aimed at problems of occurrence of obesity of two selected groups of clients with mental handicap in dependence on their lifestyle and feeding habits. In most of new built social settlements of this type clients are provided with all -day food by professional caterer services. This way is very convenient for organizations with institutional care, because they don't have to carry on a kitchen in their settlement. So, related costs like assurance of staff in three-shift operation, expensive equipment of the kitchen or compliance to sanitary codes, are saved. Here we can ask a question: to what degree is this type of feeding positive for the client who must consume imported food for the whole lifetime? The aim of my dissertation was to depict the way of feeding, consuming habits and general lifestyle of clients of home for men with handicap and to try to find out the reasons why most of the clients suffer from obesity.

Hůlková, Marie ; Pokorný, Jiří (referee) ; Míšková, Alena (advisor)
The purpose of the thesis was to introduce the Sudeten German problematic, such as the history of Sudeten German in Czech Kingdom, Czechoslovakia and lately in the Czech republic. The focus of the Sudeten German history discussed in the thesis is on the expulsion of this national group from Czechoslovakia to Germany in 1945- 1946. There this specific national group built several Sudeten-German Organizations to represent the ethnical group, with the purpose to help Sudeten Germans to start new life in Germany and if possible, return back to Czechoslovakia. The most known organization is the so-called Sudetendeutsche Landsmannschaft. The main part of the thesis analyzes three biggest Czech and German newspapers and their view of a traditional meeting of Sudeten Germans, called Sudetengerman Days. The study sought to answer the research question: is there a difference between the Czech and German media, in which way are they different and in which way do they influence the public opinion?

The Czechoslovak-Polish dispute over Javorina within the billateral relations of the inter-war period (1921-1939)
Jakubec, Pavol ; Nálevka, Vladimír (advisor) ; Horčička, Václav (referee)
In this study, an interesting chapter of Czechoslovak foreign policy linked with the High Tatras region in the north of present-day Slovakia is questioned - Polish-Czechoslovak dispute on Javorina. Unique natural setting of this mountainous pocket and a bit non-standard ethnical conditions of the periphery (the locals were at best amidst their identification with a modern political nation) played their part in the collision of Czechoslovak and Polish aspirations. The following dispute has broken twice in the inter-war period, thus being a question of recurring interest. Though not of a decisive importance, the Javorina question was one of symptomatic dissonances in the relations between Prague and Warsaw. The story of the controversy about the village and its environs goes back to the formative months of the both Slavic states succeeding the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In absence of Czechoslovakian troops, the whole country of northern Scepusia (better-known in German as Zips), as far as the towns of Stará Ľubovňa and Kežmarok on the river Poprad, was taken over by Polish troops in November-December 1918. Czechoslovakia did not want to give up the territory at any rate, and, with a slight delay, examined a local campaign to push the Poles north of historical Galician-Hungarian border. Collision was presented...

Kříhová, Dominika ; Prorok, Vladimír (advisor) ; Šabatka, Michal (referee)
This thesis is a comparative study of electoral programs of the two most powerful czech political parties ODS (Civic Democratic Party) and ČSSD (Czech Social Democratic Party) namely in the domain of their economic and social policies. The main aim of this work is solely the comparation thus the research of similar and different points which ODS and ČSSD seek to promote in the long term. A secondary objective is an attempt to determine whether the frequent disputes between these parties stems from ideological differences, or whether it is rather a pragmatic concern. Comparison is in the same time synchronous and diachronic (comparison of two programs of political parties in the time frame from the beginning of 90's until these days), such a comparison allows to identify the consistency and continuity in the programs of ODS and ČSSD and their overall development. Strnadová, Eva ; Damohorský, Milan (advisor) ; Franková, Martina (referee)
80 12. Summary My master's degree thesis discusses the food law of the Czech Republic and comparatives with the food law of Ireland. I have chosen this topic, because, I think, that this topic is very interesting and very important for all our life. Everyone has to eat and drink anything every day, but nobody wants to be taken ill by some illness from contaminated food, and therefore the main purpose of food law is to ensure food safety and protect health of consumers. Firstly this thesis is concerned with history of food law in the Czech Republic and The European Union. History of Czech food law began in the early 20the century. This period was very successful for food law. Next chapter deals with basic principles of European food law and the most important documents and regulations. At the present, The European Union has got a main role in the European food law and EU consolidates this law within EU and it wants to ensure food safety, animal health, animal welfare and plant health. The main principle of european food safety is "from the farm to the fork". It means, that each step (subject or object) of food web is very important for final product and food safety. One of the subchapters of chapter describes international organizations (e.g. Codex Alimentarius), which deal with food law within international...
