Use of Botanical Garden of faculty of science Charles University in Prague in teaching biology and natural history

This diploma thesis is focusing on use of Botanical garden of Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague by teachers as a destination for class field trips. Teachers use this garden with different objectives and different intensity. This diploma thesis provides a summary of this using by the processing of the survey, which took place in elementary school teachers and high school teachers. This work is testing the following hypotheses: 1. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years use the field trip less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. 2. Men use guided tours more than women. 3. High school teachers use geopark for tour more than elementary school teachers. 4. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years visit gardens other than Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague and the Botanical Garden in Prague Troja less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. The thesis summarizes basic information about the field trip as an organizational form. The thesis also deals with the Botanical Garden of faculty of science Charles University in Prague, its collections, history, and possibilities of using in schools.
Educational use of geological park Czech Paradise in teaching upper primary school biology

The presented diploma thesis has an educational character and tries to find a way how to teach geology more attractive at primary schools. It includes authorial proposals for field trip routes and school experiments that can be implemented in lessons or within other educational school activity during school year. The field trips are built to be carried out in the geological park of Bohemian Paradise because of its natural wealth giving many possibilities to be used in teaching geology and other related fields of natural sciences. The experiments are designed to be realized during school lessons, therefore they are meant to be as little as possible time consuming and also the necessary material is supposed to be easily available. A theoretical part of the diploma thesis contains a summary of available natural datasets about the geological park of Bohemian Paradise, a review of the educational principles for organising of the field trips, creating worksheets, experiments and games in teaching process. The principles of creating concept maps are also included. Field Trip Activities in Prague Focusing on the Star Game Reserve and their Application and Use in the Teaching of Nature Science

(Field Trip Activities in Prague Focusing on the Star Game Reserve and Their Application and Use in the Teaching of Biology) The subject of this diploma thesis are organizational forms of teaching with a focus on excursion activities in science classes at the 2nd level of primary school and in the corresponding years of lower grammar school. The work is clearly divided into several parts. The first part deals with general information about the excursion activity as a whole. It deals with the division of individual excursions, their preparation and course. Subsequently, the possibilities of educational programs in Prague and the surrounding area are characterized, which are prepared from various institutions. Furthermore, the work specifically focuses on the Prague forest in the field of the Star game reserve, because in the last part of the text is made an educational walk connecting the history and nature of this place. An integral part of the work is a questionnaire survey dealing with the use of excursions in science teaching.
The using of gardens of Prague Castle in teaching of biology at elementary school

This diplomat thesis is focusing on use of Garden of Prague castle and the possibilities of their use in the teaching of Science at secondary school within the organizational form of the excursion. The teoretical part is devoted to the description and characteristics of the Gardens of Prague castle. The diploma thesis is mainly focused on the Royal Garden. The reason is practical usability this garden and also limited access to other gardens of Prague castle at the time of processing this diploma thesis. The these sis mainly focused on the Royal Garden. The diploma thesis summarizes the basic informational about the excursion as an organizational form of education. The aim of practical part was the first to find out the attitude of secondary schools (focusing on the Central Bohemian and Prague regions) to excursions to Prague castle and this education method. It was found that most teachers of science organize excursions, but the Gardens of Prague castle are seldom their aim. On the basic of elaboration of previous aims, didactic materials were prepared for the realization of the excursion in the area of Prague Castle, the most comprehensive part consist of a set of ten worksheets. Botanical Field Trip to Doubrava River Valley for Lower Secondary Education

Nature trail "The valley of river Doubrava" connecting the village Bílek and the city Chotěboř in Železné hory, offers many possibilities on how to effectively include and use its surroundings in botanical and environmental education, which is the main goal of this diploma thesis. Theoretical part covers the characteristics of natural conditions of the nature trail territory as well as its significance and function. This part also describes, how this excursion fits in the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. Didactical part broadly introduces methodical plan of the excursion. This includes the verification and evaluation of the excursion. The aim of the excursion is to deepen and revise botanical knowledge and natural relations of individual locations of the nature trail with a connection to environmental education and nature preservation. The final chapter of the thesis offers teachers practical ideas on how to use the plants variety of the Doubrava Valley in botanical and environmental education. The thesis also includes my own photo documentation throughout the whole excursion. These pictures not only draw near the work when fulfilling tasks and activities to students, but also demonstrate the diversity and uniqueness of a region, where the excursion takes place.
The Periodic table of elements exhibition as a teaching aid

The thesis is focused on creation of helpful didactic material for a field trip for exposition Periodic table of elements in the Chemistry section at the Faculty of Science, Charles University. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with research of curricular documents for elementary schools and grammar schools with regard to the periodic table of elements and field trips. Consequently the topic of worksheets is elaborated. A practical part consists of a description of worksheets creation, discussion about tasks we have chosen and respective correct solutions. Two versions of worksheets were created. The version for elementary schools contains 11 tasks and the version for secondary schools contains 12 tasks.

The diploma thesis entitled Let's revive recent history… or how to teach contemporary history in secondary schools is conceived in the form of a methodological manual for secondary school teachers who would like to understand their teaching of contemporary history in an interesting, research and effective way. It outlines the obstacles due to which teachers avoid contemporary history, and compares and evaluates history textbooks, which are among the most commonly used in teaching at secondary schools. It is also clear here how much space is devoted to contemporary history in these textbooks and which topics of contemporary history are preferred by the framework educational program. The work is focused on Czechoslovak and Czech contemporary history, for which it offers the possibility of using various Internet platforms, which are directly intended for teachers or from them can draw inspiration for their teaching. Last but not least, it also offers several activities involving working with sources or other period artifacts that can be used in class. Dagmar Říhová, Ph.D. ANNOTATION This diploma thesis is focused on leeches (Annelida: Hirudinea) in the Czech Republic. It provides a description of all species occurring in the Czech Republic, as well as the key to their classification into families. A detailed guideline about the organization of field trip and implementation of extracurricular teaching is part of this thesis. The field trip is focused on sampling, observation and determination of leeches in an excursion to a site with a traditional occurrence of the European medical leech Hirudo medicinalis - national nature reservation Hrabanovská černava. In addition, the work defines the advantages, disadvantages and other possibilities of application of the proposed program, and the inclusion of extracurricular education.
