Before the war, the German population made for more than 70% of the total population of this borderline area. In 1947 it was only about 7%. More Germans continued to leave the country after the regular transfers in additional transports up until 1950. Only some specific groups of German speaking inhabitants were permitted to stay in Czechoslovakia - antifascists, Austrians, German experts, people living in mixed marriages, some of the German clergy, and those who were pardoned. In Teplice-Šanov it was a considerably large group of specialists (especially in the field of mining) who remained. The issue of repopulating the regions affected by the expulsion of Germans is also addressed. Settlers from inland, other borderline areas, Slovakia and from abroad came to the Teplice-Šanov district. The total number of newcomers in May 1947 was 47,402. Lišková, Sonja ; Šouša, Jiří (advisor) ; Janečková, Jitka (referee)
The thesis deals with the development of self-government of a small village Černice. The micro-historical research of municipal government is a key topic not only for understanding national history, but it's also useful as a basis for studying the origins of the current legislation and the activity of administrative bodies. Researching the development and various phenomenons of the society in the past often helps us to better understand the current attitudes and conclusions, as these are often derived from past experience. First of all, the work represents an outline of the history of first reference regarding the village. The following sections then characterize the development of a small village, located near the large city of Pilsen in modern times. It represents the village and it's development during the First Czechoslovak Republic, a significant part of Czech history, and describes the key turning points. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the life of citizens, education, religious life, culture and also activities of local associations and organisations.
Ordo Cisterciensis during the First Czechoslovak Republic. The transformations of Cistercian monasteries in Czechoslovakia in light of the reports for the General Chapter of the order
TALÍŘ, František
The thesis aims to depict the life of Cistercians during the First Czechoslovak Republic. To put it into context, the first chapter evaluates the situation of the Catholic Church as a whole, of which religious orders and congregations have been an inseparable part. During the First Czechoslovak Republic, Cistercian monasteries, which are discussed in the thesis, were united in the Congregation of the Most Pure Heart of Mary. The Congregation consisted of three abbeys in Czechoslovakia, two abbeys in Saxony, and a newly established priory in Denmark. The purpose of the thesis is to describe the material and personal conditions in the monasteries, the formation and structure of the congregation, and the daily life of monks. The thesis also seeks to answer the question if a male contemplative order, such as Cistercians, could have found its place in a democratic society of the First Republic. Reports written for chapters of the congregation as well as the whole order were used as the main source. In them, the superiors described not only the conditions and discipline in their monasteries, but also the activities of the monks and nuns among local inhabitants. The thesis is particularly focused on the Abbey of Vyšší Brod, which was located in an area inhabited predominantly by German-speaking population. The issue of coexistence of both nationalities and the role the monastery played in it is illustrated by drawing on the contemporaneous press.
