Social mission of the church and program documents of the European Union
Charousová, Hana ; Ovečka, Libor (advisor) ; Ryšková, Mireia (referee)
Masters thesis SOCIAL MISSION OF THE CHURCH AND PROGRAMMING DOCUMENTS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION Hana Charousová Resumé The contemporary world is being led towards total globalization, material development, economic prosperity and technocratic society. The aim of this Masters thesis is to point out that the contemporary world challenges people to maintain human values, support moral and spiritual life and humankind generally. My work focuses on the situation of the Catholic Church and other churches in our society, most of all on their social mission, which comes out of Christian teaching. I want to demonstrate that these churches can and should have a position of value in contemporary, modern, pluralistic society. At the same time, through this thesis, I would like to inspire churches to be more involved in practical aspects of society, especially in social problem-solving. To do this, however, churches need financial backing. For that reason, this thesis will provide practical suggestions for obtaining financial support, for example from European Structural Funds, especially the European Social Fund.
