Young women - the college graduates, their working aspirations and ideas about family life
Krucká, Zuzana ; Králová, Tereza (advisor) ; Surynek, Alois (referee)
This thesis deals with the women-graduates, their working aspirations and their conception of a family life. In the theoretical part the university education of Czech women is described, in terms of historical development and also and the current situation of the Czech universities, in terms of number of women studying there. In the next part the attention is paid to the women's level of education aspirations and their motivation for studying. Students usually finish their education during the period of life, which is referred to as a young adulthood according to the evolutionary psychology. The thesis deals with the transition of young people into adulthood and describes the specifics of this period, from the perspective of women. Young people in particular enter into their working life, accept their new job role and become independent. Young woman is also expected to become mother after finishing her education. Today's young women must solve the dilemma. They have to decide for their work or for their maternal role. Usually they try to harmonize them. In the practical section the opinions of four young women - graduates are presented. Their attitudes to this life period were found out by means of the depth interview. Women mainly described the period of the university study and their motivation for studying. The other topics of the interview was the moment of graduation and their entry into working life. Finally the process of achieving independence from parents was found out, also the conception of establishing their own families, their maternal role and the idea about coordination this role with their job aspirations.

7.2 Příloha 2 Abstract of the diploma thesis CHALCONES AND THEIR ANALOGUES AS POTENTIAL DRUGS IX. Petra Kopcová Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Heyrovského 1203, 500 05 Hradec Králové, Czech Republic In the theoretical part of this diploma thesis, the beneficial effects of chalcones on cardiovascular diseases are summarized. Possible mechanisms of action of synthetic and naturally occurring compounds are mentioned too. Both expected and documented effects are described. The experimental part deals with the products of Claisen-Schmidt condensation. Pyrazine analogues of chalcones with methoxy-group in the position 4 of the phenyl ring B and different alkyls in the position 5 of pyrazine ring A were synthesized. Also some intermediate products for the condensation were prepared. Five final products resulted from the experimental work. None of them has been described in literature yet. The compounds were characterized by their melting point, NMR and IR spectra. Their purity was verified by thin-layer chromatography and elemental analysis.

Problems of Search for the Meaning of Life by Milan Machovec
Šlégl, Jiří ; Pelcová, Naděžda (advisor) ; Lášek, Jan Blahoslav (referee) ; Pauza, Miroslav (referee)
Milan Machovec (1925 - 2003) was one of the most significant Czech philosophers of the second half of the 20th centutry. This work is focused on a dilemma which connects all interests of Machovec into one unit. The topic is Search for the Meaning of Life. Due to personal, political and social changes the view at this topic has changed during Machovec's creative life. The work is divided into three main periods, in which we trace this continuous evolvement. At first, it is "Marxist solution" (1946 - 1964), where Machovec is trying to use a historial analysis to show the evolvement, understanding and search of the meaning of men's life from the times of antigue up to present. He comes to the conclusion that the only acceptable possibility is a socialist solution. This result is quite under the influence of a historical contemporary context. Thereby, Machovec is identified with the ideology of the leading communist party. In the second period "Expectation and Conversion" (1965 - 1989) the approach to this dilemma is changed completely. Machovec is not searching for the meaning of life in a historical context of this phenomena but he is trying to make his own conclusions. He is attempting to find the meaning of life thanks to human work, universe, history, humanism, god, delight, future or dialogue....

Copmplex conception of health and sustainable developement
Krýslová, Simona ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Haškovcová, Helena (referee)
My diploma thesis deals with the topic of health and sustainable development. I am working with two topical Euro-American concepts, the socio-ecological model of health as promoted by the WHO (holistic concept of health) and the strategy of sustainable development as I acquainted myself with it during my studies at the School of Humanities of the Charles University. First of all, I analyse both concepts by means of expert sources. I emphasize their characteristic features, compare them and carry out a synthesis. On grounds of that I demonstrate three established hypotheses: 1. the holistic concept of health and the strategy of sustainable development with regard to their historical development are not only complementary but also mutually conditional concepts; 2. the holistic concept of health and the strategy of sustainable development have many common features; 3. the holistic concept of health is a natural and indispensable part of sustainable development. I began to be interested in interconnecting those topics in my diploma thesis in the moment I found out what both these interdisciplinary and systematic concepts have in common. At the same time, the interconnection was the most precarious part of my work. I did not expect to have any particular difficulties with separating individual features from...

Effect of the sperm ubiquitination in the early embryonic development in pig
Petelák, Aleš ; Krylov, Vladimír (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee)
The intracellular sperm injection (ICSI) technique is a very effective tool for the fertilization research. In the newly established laboratory at the Faculty of Science of the Charles University it was necessary to introduce this method and define the early developmental potential of fertilized oocytes. After fertilization oocytes were incubated to the blastocyst stage with a success comparable with other laboratories (17%). The ubiquitin-proteasome system which plays a major role in a protein degradation within cells is involved in a regulatory mechanism of sperm maturation. It is also responsible for a penetration of a vitelline membrane. In these processes ubiquitin residues are localized extracellulary. High level of sperm ubiquitination correlates with their low quality. Hypotetically it can be expected that the ubiqutination of impaired sperm cells can be used as a negative marker for their recognition and degradation by 26S proteasome complex localized. Experiments in this diploma thesis were designed based on the hypothesis that the executive part of the selective mechanism is the 26S proteasome. Therefore the effect of MG132 peptide inhibition of the 20S proteasome on the pronuclei formation and subsequent early embryonic development after ICSI was studied. Inhibition of 20S proteasome...

Suchánková, Petra ; Opletal, Lubomír (advisor) ; Siatka, Tomáš (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Botany and Ecology Candidate: Mgr. Petra Suchánková Consultant: Doc. RNDr. Lubomír Opletal, CSc. Title of Rigorous Thesis: Biological activity of plant metabolites II. Screening of alkaloid plants on human cholinesterases inhibition. The extracts of selected plants, which were expected to have an effect on brain tissue metabolism, were subjected to the screening of their biological activity. Summary ethanol (S) and ethylacetate (B) extracts were prepared by suitable method from various morphological parts of plants: Argemone ochroleuca Sweet (root), Argemone platyceras Link et Otto (root), Argemone grandiflora Sweet (root), Corydalis cava (L.) Schweigg. et Koerte (herb), Fumaria officinalis L. (herb), Papaver argemone L. (herb without fruits), Papaver argemone L. (capsules), Papaver rhoeas L. (capsules), Papaver rhoeas L. (flower), Papaver rhoeas L. (flower + herb). The process was based on the extraction of dry material by 95% ethanol, evaporation (S), and subsequent solution of the extracts (S) in diluted HCl, filtration, alkalization on pH 9-10,5 and extraction of alkaloid bases by ethylacetate (B). Both types of extracts were subjected to the determination of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and...

Argumenty Bubliny Vyššího Vzdělání v USA
Kasanová, Barbora ; Chytilová, Helena (advisor) ; Prokop, Jaromír (referee)
Unsustainable business practices coupled with an illusion of the masses plagues the higher education model in the United States today. It used to hold that college was the key to a successful job for fresh graduates. . . . We are in the midst of a speculative bubble composed of inflated expectations about the university system. This paper aims to analyze that there is indeed a speculative bubble of the US Higher Education system. The increased demand for college, skyrocketing tuition and room & board fees, as well as easier access to loans for funding have contributed to the formation of this bubble.

Macroeconomic forecast of the Czech Republic
Semerák, Vilém
Our forecasts start with an econometric model developed at Michigan University (WDI) and further improved at CERGE-EI. The model combines a whole range of econometric techniques; it can also use forecasts of other institutions as inputs. The results can be further modified by taking into account expected factors (policy changes, exogenous shocks) that might not have been reflected in the input data.
