All articles found are divided into five categories - health articles, stories, advertisements, tuberculosis in other meaning and death announcements. All data are processed using charts and bar graphs including comments and examples. Aim of this work is to determine how the Národní listy newspaper responded to the medical research news, what information did they offer to their readers and whether their agenda had changed by the influence of foundation of Masaryk's league against tuberculosis after the First world war.

Music markets in Czechoslovakia of the 1970s and 1980s
Havlík, Adam ; Rákosník, Jakub (referee) ; Pullmann, Michal (advisor)
Since the communist party seized power in 1948, new culture, the so called socialist realism, was expected to be a form of culture common and imperative to all people in Czechoslovakia. But instead of achieving hegemony, western cultural products such as rock music gained popularity among the people. One of the conditions, which contributed to popularity of western music, was a somewhat ambivalent reception and treatment of this subject. On the one hand, western music was often criticised and publicly condemned. On the other hand, small amount of undistorted information could be found on the pages of the official press - music magazines etc. Possibilities of acquiring records of western rock bands were scarce, for some even impossible. These facts contributed to the emergence of unofficial music markets.

Tvrdíková, Barbora ; Stejskalová, Veronika (advisor) ; Marešová, Jana (referee) ; Vachková, Eva (referee)
A newborn with the disorder of early adaptation demands cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This is a very demanding and important medical output. The stabilization of physiological functions of the newborn after delivery and the subsequent transport into a specialized centre can critically influence the baby's prognosis. The goal of this work was to find out the readiness of infant departments for resuscitation, how they manage it and how they secure the newborn before the arrival of the transport service. The theoretical part of this work is dedicated to the process of cardiopulmonary resuscitation itself. In the first empirical part the questionnaires from the infant departments of the regional hospitals which belong to the perinatological centre of the University Hospital Hradec Kralove were analyzed. In the second empirical part the analysis of the data from the group of resuscitated newborns brought by the transport service between 2005 and 2007 was carried out. The aim of the empirical part was to compare the performance of resuscitation and the security of the newborn before the transport into a specialized centre. The comparison was based on the results of the questionnaires and the documentation of the transport service.

Treatment of Deep Chondral Defects with Autologous Chondrocytes
Podškubka, Aleš ; Koudela, Karel (advisor) ; Karpaš, Karel (referee) ; Musiálek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Vavřík, Pavel (referee)
Treatment of Deep Chondral Defects in the Knee with Autologous Chondrocytes Fixed on a Scaffold Form of Hyaluronic Acid Esters (Hyalograft C) Abstract Aim of the study In the past few years we have seen further progress in the treatment of chondral defects by transplanting autologous chondrocytes. Different biomaterials are used as temporary carriers for fixation and an even distribution of chondrocytes in the defects. Since 2003 we have implemented a clinical trial for the treatment of deep chondral defects in the knee by transplanting autologous chondrocytes fixed in a scaffold from hyaluronic acid esters (Hyalograft C). This material has been evaluated in a prospective study. Material We evaluated results in 8 transplanted patients (7 males and 1 female, average age 31 years) with a minimal follow up of 9 months after surgery. Defects of an average size of 3,9 cm2 were localized on femoral condyles. Method We evaluated the functional outcomes (IKDC, K.OOS, Lysholm score) and performed MRI before and 3, 6 and 12 months after surgery. The newly formed cartilage was controlled visually (ICRS visual score) during a second-look arthroscopy at 9 to 12 months after transplantation. We compared the stiffness of the repair tissue at the site of the original defect with the surrounding cartilage using a specially...

Pilot study of sublingual in vitro permeation of butorphanol.
Šrámková, Markéta ; Vachek, Josef (referee) ; Doležal, Pavel (advisor)
The theoretical has mentioned the basic information about pain and its treatment. Furthermore, there are described analgesics, mainly opioids. This part is specifically focused on the kinetics and pharmacodynamics of butorphanol alone. A following section deals with the basic description of sublingual administration and it provides with a description of morphology of tongue and also provides information from articles, which dealt with a similar theme as this thesis. The experimental part focuses on the permeability of a sublingual membrane using butorphanol dispersed in different vehicles. Isopropyl myristate, phosphate buffer pH 5.3, propylene glycol - water (3:2) were used. Some of the test donor samples used gelatinous membrane or chitosan donor membrane. Acceptor phase in the experiments was phosphate buffer pH 7.4 or pH 6.5. Permeation marker there was caffeine. I have found from the permeation results obtained that caffeine as a marker of choice was appropriate. Permeability tests of butorphanol brought some interesting findings on the dependence between permeability and a selected membrane type. It can be concluded from the results that the membrane permeability of the membrane affected by membrane properties more than the used vehicle.
